hi,

I noticed not many discussion on 27" monitor...is there any drawback on having 27" monitor? eg. size too big and not as sharp as 24" or 23"...

i'm considering 27" but when I read recent posts...mostly not related to 27" ...

any good recommendation for 27" monitor btw...
thanks!
*
the 27" you want is 1080p or 1440p? there's less discussion because of the price of it for 1440p - around rm1.7k for dell. and not a mainstream now tho there's more and more ppl getting it.

size too big depends on the range of your sitting to the monitor, for me, it's quite an awesome feel on gaming (from 23" to 27"). sharpness is great (not sure what you mean, mayb blur out text?), and everything juz looks superb compare to my old u2311h. (mayb due to the heavy AG coating on the 23")

If ya goin for 1440p 27". Dell U2713HM won't be wrong for its price.

thanks for the reply bro, just want to clarify what do u mean by 4k TV? as in the price is RM4k above?
*
4k = Ultra HD
4K UHD is a resolution of 3840 pixels × 2160 lines

wiki/4K_resolution
n d price is certainly above rm4k laugh.gif

that's not very true. I've been doing some research this past few weeks only a handful of 27inch monitor at 1440 n the cheapest I found in lowyat is 1.3k

majority 27 inch are at 1080p which is kinda sad. sad.gif
*
yeap. our market dont have much these korea brand 27" @ 1440p. not bad for the price tho.
1.3k is which monitor? dell u2713hm kinda hurt my working ass laugh.gif

I was looking at Asus MX279H also but I realized that the stand is quite ugly IMO. Just note that you shouldn't rely on the built in speakers as they are just icing/decent only (even if they stick Bang & Olufsen name on it). Additionally I dislike their customer service, I have sent in my notebook for servicing and it has been 2 frigging weeks with not a single update (they promised me to call within 5 working days). To make it worse, this is not the first time that their service is so crappy for me  doh.gif

*I am using a 22" now and for me, 24" seems nice enough biggrin.gif However if you are using a bigger one already, I think you should stick to it - once you go big, it is hard to back small  brows.gif
*
+1.
but i really dislike the market having very scarce amount of 16:10 monitor. even u2713h is a 16:9.
coming from single 23" to tri-23" back to single 27", i'll say single 27"/30" is the best to keep things tidy and simple. the horror of insufficient space of tri-monitor is juz rclxub.gif ppl always come in and say so damn freaking high tech =.=. but i love it for multi tasking tho. sambil Running Man sambil BF4!!
Agree on the built in speakers, not very worthy to get it.

OT: my asus lappie sent in warranty for screen replacement (got bubble on the lcd, mcm screen protector application fail by asos.) takes 1 mths. (send in after 5 days purchase.)

^tri-monitor aint quite a good thing. GPU power to drive tri-reso and the most annoying thing of all, thick bezel in between. But with the latest dell intro ultra thin bezel, it looks sexy again to go multi monitor. wub.gif
but i'll juz wait for more affordable 60hz 4k 27-30" in the future (5years + down the road?).

any recommendation for dell monitors? looking for 23" and above.

i see most recommend 2414H? I mainly use for gaming and movies

what about 2713HM?
*
love everything about it. the spacious and crispier detail even without/lower AA made up by higher reso.
juz that its pricier and not 16:10 but 16:9 sadly.

Just to update my Dell monitor warranty, no doubt Dell's customer service is excellent, i log my warranty 2 days ago today i got the replacement. However their product quality really an issue now, look at the picture for my new replacement monitor  mad.gif
*
omg shocking.gif call them to ask for replacement again and tell the CS to freaking check the unit b4 send to you.
what's the use for them to deliver so fast yet another faulty unit!!
mayb next time you can ask the deliver guy to wait until you checked the monitor 1st. and ask him to giv you another unit OTS if its faulty. lulz

1080 is a bit too small reso for 27"

get U2414H like that better.
*
yeap. for 27", muz have at least 1440p.
if 1080p, whether 24" or 27" nth much different except screen size.

@Crovoseas
since your budget is rm1.1k. why not save for few more months and get a 1440p 27"? (my dell 2713hm juz cost around rm1.7k)
unless you need the monitor urgently.

I am still waiting people to poison me to grab U2414H. instead of P2414H.

Do you play game a lot ? Does ghosting(8ms) bothers you ?
*
my monitor is 8ms and yes, i game alot from Quake 3, UT, SC II, D3, BF 2/3/4, TF 2, CS, TFall Beta, Racing and etc. (i juz play all kind of games except sports). + ps3 on this monitor.
and 8ms did not hinder or give me unpleasant gaming experience. saw different between 2ms and later, but i guess my eyes did not apply to these differences or i don't have ultra spidy sense, except when you put 2 monitor side by side for comparison purposes.

mayb you can call up to dell as well incase you are lucky and get cheaper price than ALLIT.

thanks. call to order usually means its gonna be expensive hahaha

depends on luck. sometimes you get the sales person whom can give you lower price point, but mostly its higher tongue.gif
seeing now that 4k require CF/SLI of top end card, what/which GPU line will be require to power up 60fps on a single gpu card? 8xxx series? or r3 which i think its too soon?

TN panel. IGZO>IPS>>>>>>>>>TN.

Hence the 1ms. Good try though for getting 4K mainstream. It's hard enough getting folks moving up from 1920x1080 to 2560x1440.
*
yeap. the price aint kind to us to get a 1440/1600p monitor.
in fact, i only knew dell that offer these 2 monitor with IPS panel. i'm so out dated. laugh.gif

anyone knows how much it cost for U2713HM ?

i check dell website...have to call to know the price...i guess it's always fluctuating?
*
RM 1.75k to RM1.85k. should be around here. unless there's discount that will go near RM1.7k.
dell ultrasharp monitor is a hard b**** for its price to drop.
the above price is based on my previous research on LYP shop - ALL IT & Viewnet.
