I have pledged for the game the moment i saw this kickstarter.

For me, i would want to see another large scale RTS, not another Starcraft wannabe.

Ooh... so Cheesenium has pledged for this game as well. I'm interested to know how many LYN members actually pledged along. hmm.gif

I have pledged it on day 1, as i loved Sup Com and TA.

This is definitely my most excited kickstarter. Really looking forward to this game now, especially if Galactic War is in. Large scale multiplayer galactic warfare or unlimited comp stomps, sign me up please.

I think the game is fairly feasible to make considering the fact that Sins of Solar Empire was made with 700k USD initially, with additional 500k plus from Stardock. PA only have one faction while some of the stuff are carried over from Super Monday Night Combat, i think it can be made with 1.8 million. I am just kinda worried about the technical challenge to make a game like this, without the game slowing down to a crawl like Sup Com or TA.

This game starting to feel a lot like Sup Com with a bit of influence from shooters.

Summoning completed! biggrin.gif

I've to admit that I'm a total stranger when it comes to TA / Sup Com so I can't really relate to the game as well as you guys do. However, based on what you just mentioned, I'm curious as to what you meant by "some of the stuff are carried over from Super Monday Night Combat". As far as I know, MNC is a different genre but I'm assuming that you're referring to the game engine.

If (keeping fingers crossed) this project turns out to be a great success, I'm very interested to see how many game developers will opt for such a path where they're soliciting funding from interested gamers instead of going through the traditional publisher path. hmm.gif

If im not wrong, Uber will be bringing some of the tech over from their Super Monday Night Combat, such as the client server model. Other than that, im not very sure.

I think the engine will be a new one, designed ground up for a game like this. And i really hope they will do it properly this time. Both TA and Sup Com have terrible engine optimisation, some of the problems still persists till now.

I do recommend you to try Sup Com though, as the game is still amazing till today. There is no other strategy games that plays and feels like Sup Com's large scale warfare. IMO, there are only 2 RTS that i consider as RTS games that never age. One of it is Sup Com, the other one is Company of Heroes, as they never felt like an old relic of the past whenever you revisit them in the future. Sins of Solar Empire is close, but it feels like something is missing compared to Sup Com and CoH.

The funding has finished about 4 months ago. The graphs are insignificant now as the budget that Uber has is more than 2.2 million, as they do put a couple of million into the project.

It is priced to be expensive because the alpha tier is also $90.

Pricing it anything less than $90 would be unfair to the backers.

The alpha is pretty broken, to be honest, despite it is a very cool looking game. If i were you, i'll rather wait for Beta release then.

You are playing an incomplete game that is still in development so bugs and issues are expected. From my experience with other crowd funding projects, Alpha builds are usually a pain to play and difficult to enjoy most of the time like one build is very much playable, then the next one broke the optimisation and the following one broke the rendering engine till artifacts are everywhere but fixed the optimisation.

Most of the new features implemented are either broken or incomplete, it feels more like being a volunteer QA tester than being a gamer who plays an entertainment product. Still, some of the funny bugs made it a really worthwhile experience. It also seemed more like seeing what cool shit they implemented in this update than anything else.

Pretty terrible IMO. It is always online, minus the reliably of the servers. And also a lot of bugs.
