Hey All,

I am 28 year old and working in private sector. When I am 23 years old, doctor said that i have gout and also hypertension. So the doctor give me allupurinol to control my uric acid. After several years, I stop allupurinol because my uric acid was normal. But this year, the gout start to attack again. The attack became frequent since May 2012 until now. Doctor start the allupurinol again and I am on gout diet. But the problem is my uric acid never decrease and the attack continue. So I am asking for opinion guys... TQ

i'm 32 and I have gout as well. Realized that I have it somewhere early last year. I resist to take allupurinol. Now I'm doing 'bekam' every 2 weeks.
You will notice that people who have gout, when you withdraw blood on your feet area, there will lot of bubble coming out. And the color is a bit whitish.
Before this, I go to the place that can do bekam. But after few treatment, I decide to buy the tools. Now I'm doing it myself.
If u want, I can recommend you some books that you can read on bekam.

btw, are u muslim? Bekam is a treatment recommended by our prophet Muhammad pbuh. There lot of authentic saying from our prophet about bekam.

Hai there,
Thanks for reply. I heard also that bekam is good but im scared because dont know whether it is true or not. I have diet for 2 month (plus allupurinol) but the gout still attack and uric acid still not reduce. So bekam is good? lower down your uric acid? no attack anymore? Btw Im muslim..

I hope more people can share something here. TQ

Did your doctor give you colchicine when your attack started in May 2012?

The only thing you can get from a pharmacy is pain killer at every acute attack. If you think the current treatment is not working for you, seek for second doctor's opinion.

Actually I just been discharged from hospital today. On monday i go to general hospital. They give me injection and chocisine and they said i can go home. But I am not satisfied because I have do the diet and take the allupurinol but the attack now become worst and more frequent plus uric acid not lowered down. So i go to private hospital and they done all the test again. Now I the doctor start the allupurinol again but I am scared that the attack will keep coming since my uric acid not reduced. I feel like I cant take the pain anymore..every at least 1 attack..its killing me...

Sorry to hear that.. the problem is the high uric acid level rather than the drugs. And unfortunately gout commonly attacks men particularly more if you have a family history.

Be patient and do continue on the diet and meds the doctor has prescribed. I'm sure pain killers are on the list and you may have to be on them for a while to endure the pain.

Allopurinol is a drug you take long term (but not life long like your hypertension meds).. so if you have a chance to meet your doctor again, ask him more about how long he expects you to be on it. At least it prepares you for what's ahead.

Gout is different in each individual. Some get the attack often, some every few years and some once in 10 years.

For all your information, uric acid is very high in meat consumption. Therefore it's best to avoid meat or lesser

Yes it is so true. Limiting meat in diet will help to reduce uric acid a lot.

Especially char boiled, grill meat, all these causes cancer

Meats cooked at high temperatures and processed meats contain high amounts of nitrosamines cause cancer

so better go for raw vege diet or vegan diet.

In truth all foods cause your body to generate uric acid, difference is in severity.

When I caught it I was prescribed something (long time ago 10 years plus). It cleared up rather quickly (1-2 days). Before that, it felt like hell. Oh, I ate unprocessed food then. Very strict diet.

Today I workout (weights, martial arts etc etc), living on a list of BANNED uric acid problem food.

You my friend need to consult a specialist, talk to your GP and get a referral. I think you may need to see a nephrologist but talk to your trusted GP first.

Post back here on your findings.....for the benefit of others.

Good Luck.

During the raya, i have not watch out my diet... belasah shj kambing & sotong. Then suffer lah... sekarang i minum air betik muda&green tea . Getah yg ada pada betik muda & the green tea, will elevate the blood pH. Low pH is not good for gout people , we have to neutralize the acid level ..to lessen the pain.

How I did, cut the green papaya(do not peel the skin), into big cubes. Then boiled it with green tea for about 30minutes. Then drink the water.

google green papaya for gout.

Have to take a lot of alkaline based foods to counter the effects of acidity in the body...fresh fruits and veggies, fish oil, vitamin C, celery extract, cherry fruit extract are some examples.

FYI, foods rich in vitamin C (Ascorbic acid) are alkaline forming in the body and helps to counter the effects of gout.

i read through the article in the url. nowhere in that article mention anything about gout. i suspect you do not know anything about gout but you were confused with the term 'uric acid' and thus you mentioned that article.

One of the causes of gout are high levels of uric acid in the body fluids.

http://arthritis.about.com/od/gout/ss/informationgout_3.htm

That article I had previously mentioned was just to inform readers , the benefits of Vitamin C in helping PH levels in the body. Weren't the previous posts by other readers indicating Vitamin C as a beneficial supplements for gout sufferers?

please, tell me something else more substantial. just googling about gout and asking me to read about what i've already learnt in medical school is not enough. vitamin c is beneficial for gout? where's the logic?

Hi..I have discharged from hospital on 17/8. 4 days after that, the gout attack again. When I was admitted, my uric acid was 6++. on 30/8 I go again to the hospital for follow up. I cant walk, the gout attack both feet. On that day the blood test result shown that my uric acid reduced to 3++ which considered normal. I ask the Dr. why the attack happened even the uric acid reduced to normal? Dr said that the there may be uric acid that already crystalized in my joint and the uric acid level is just reduced. The Dr now referring me to the rheumatologist because i ask about possiblity of having rheumatoid athritis. But the Dr mention that through the blood test the rheumatoid is negative. Hoping everything will be fine. Now my target is to reduce weight. ^^
