Intel 330 120GB would suit your budget. The lowest price i found in LYP is RM310(C-Zone).
Intel = Reliability + 3 Years Warranty. smile.gif

Bandwidth "hunger" applications such as video encoding and huge graphics rendering require high storage speed will benefit from RAID0, cause it'll double the bandwidth.
Take an example normal Intel 330 is 480MB/s (could be higher), double it will reach more than 900MB/s for sequential read/write speed.
Or maybe a high I/O server will benefit from the increased I/O as RAID0 increases that as well.
In the end, it's all about bandwidth for RAID0, access time still pretty much unchanged, cause it's so darn fast already. brows.gif (less than 1ms)

just realised my z68 doesnt support trim on raid 0

if you're looking for M4 and you can access Equine Park easily, try to pay CEX a visit smile.gif
their price is... well, seems unbeatable

btw, jayacom intel 330 60gb is selling at 205 as on their price list. i bet it'll drop under 200 soon

I know. Good price but location far. End up travel same. smile.gif also for future warranty if any issue so I prefer an easily accessible store for me

Added on September 10, 2012, 4:25 pmUpdate : jayacom no stock for 256 m4 :-(

Planing to put in SSD into my old mbp mid 2009. I think its SATA2 only.
Which brand is best in performance/reliability, not to forget money/price as well.
Looking for domething like 28gb - 256gb ono.

Planning on getting my first 'high-performance' (supposedly better than normal HD, never used an SSD to boot Windows!)

Care to recommend me some super fast SSD?  smile.gif

Purpose:
- Boot Windows on it
- Play games on it (high-end games), not too many maybe max take up 150Gb
- Usual computing stuff (movies, music, web, etc.)
- Planning on getting Win 8 and starting fresh on it

Maximum price RM1k... that's it, not any higher. So far from the review I've read (and since forgotten), Intel's SSD are generally solid performers.

RM1k can get 256GB with change left =)

Hi guys , a shocking event happened to me last night . My Crucial M4 dead/kaput last night . BIOS didn't detect it at all , already try it in another PC , same result . Used it for 6 months , didn't expect this to happen cry.gif I hope this is a isolated case . Now waiting for Cyntrix to reply to my problem  ╮(╯_╰")╭

Good point on the price cuts, thus am also reading up if there will be a price drop soon (from Intel).
Also toying with the idea of 2 x 256GB drives or maybe 1 x 60GB + 1 x 256GB combination. Should be cheaper.
Would the lower 4K performance on the SF22xx drives mean much compared to the excellent performance from the Marvel chipsets (i.e. Crucial M4) ?

p/s: My 300GB Raptor is currently 80% utilized, about 240GB. So a 240GB SSD "wouldn't" be enough; i.e. after formatting usable space is around 220+GB ?
*
I hv toyed with the idea of using single 120/128gb or 256gb 1st and at a later date if there is a price drop get another to raid 0 it... But alas only the latest z77 chip supports raid trim.

Ended up with a 256gb m4 instead.

128/256 is still the sweet spot price over gb at the moment IMO

You forgot to touch base on Local Intel Warranty vs "Local Crucial" Warranty. I on the other hand would take the 520 over the 330 simply because it offers 2 more years warranty, performs faster, and only a wee bit more expensive (120gb). RM 103/yr (Intel SSD 330 120GB) vs RM 80/yr (Intel SSD 520 120GB) Can't go wrong with either.
*
care to shed more light on local crucial warranty??
thanks!

based on my experience, the problem about warranty is that you have to ship it to US for crucial product as I have replaced my DDR2 RAM twice for the past.

the RMA process is fast and have no problem.

If I hv an extra ssd, how can I maximize it aside from putting it in a new system? I already hv one running for os. Using z68 board, so no trim raid 0 for me.
