BMW Sauber F1.06 - double-decker front wing

At the F1.06's post-launch test session in Valencia, BMW Sauber immediately started development of the new car's aero package, trialling different versions of the front wing. The latest used was one sporting a double profile, following the concept introduced last season by Renault and subsequently followed by many other teams. This solution seems able to provide additional downforce, but with a proportionally low increase in drag, and is very likely to be used when the season starts.

Sauber V8 only 0.5 seconds slower than the previous Ferrari V10 powered  car.  thumbup.gif
current v8 is less stronger than v10. If BMWs v8(which should be slower, less strong) is only .5 secong off the pace than Ferraris v10(stronger, faster).... it is really impressive thumbup.gif . BMW was infact able to compete with Ferrari few years back, their engine is indeed stong and competetive.... but Williams car...sweat.gif u know lae...

I know, but with that statement that comes with the graphics, it seems that BMW pioneered that. I also just read the F1 Mag Feb issue. Seems that they have a bigger wind tunnel than both Renault and McLaren but they cannot fully use it to it's full potential

doh.gif doh.gif doh.gif some ppl know nothing but throwing flames.... BMW Sauber still a new team laa.... the management are still rookie.... afterall... everything we say and do is by immitating others... its nature of human kind..... whistling.gif

and just because they have a bigger wind tunnel doesnt promise a better result either.... it takes lots of testing and ect to come up wth a good aero package. Owning a Ferrari doent mean they can be fast unless they know how to drive fast.... same thing applies here wink.gif

BMW Sauber F1.06 - rear-end detail

As on all the 2006 machines, the sidepods are smaller and narrower, particularly as they reach the 'coke-bottle' section at the rear of the car (red arrow), where the bodywork looks like a second skin applied to its internal elements. This minimal design is intended to smooth the airflow to the rear diffuser. Hidden by shields at the car's launch, the F1.06's diffuser looks very similar to that of the previous Sauber C24 in its side sections, sporting a small flip-up right in front of the rear wheels, hiding within it two heat sensors, and sporting a small, vertical fin just inside the wheel.

Well, if the car goes well, BMW should be able to do a few challenges.... However, in terms of drivers.... well, i dont particularly like Jacque, he's abit like the rusty guy in F1 and one of the many ppl who is being labelled as the "no-braking" guy out there in F1. No offence to the Jacque fans out there, ok? Just my POV. Of course, I'll support our country's sponsored team anytime regardless of the drivers biggrin.gif

Go SAUBER !

Well, I trulli share ur view. Jaques is a "have been". He was a great WC but he don't have the same hunger as the young guns of Kimi and Alonso. Nevetheless we have the great Deutsch Heidfield!!!

nope. that year the williams was so powerfull that it was said you can take some obsecure person, put him in the williams car and he can become world champion. Jaques has an issue with both Patrick head and Frankie Williams in 1997 and ppl believe that he can become world champion because the car was soo fast.
another pont to ponder, in 1997, the team was not behind him, but only renault.

nope, juz simply nope. from his driving skills now compared to 1997, big difference. i'll put it this way, he's not competitive enough with the young guns.

my 2 cents
