none,

Either you buy multiple monitor or upgrade ssd
its better performance there
if you have already LGA1155 Intel i5 and GTX670
*
+1. But I don't think he will neither buy multiple monitor or upgrade ssd for gaming purpose cause.

1) Most of us don't prefer to do gaming on multiple monitor due to the monitor panel, like me laugh.gif

2) SSD won't make so huge performance on gaming wise, even loading its just around less than 5 seconds improvement. But then its good for those database gaming like Football Manager, or he's a speed demand freak tongue.gif

Nonetheless, I would recommend him just like your said, saving the money at the moment. If he's really into the gaming, i think every year he will need to change his graphic card. XD

No!! Stop tempting me with the Ivy Bridge lineup!! I duwan spend so much on upgrades!! cry.gif

And yea i do realise that most current users of Q6600 are Overclockers lol.. But i have a friend who OCed it before. He OCed extra 0.6gHz but said not much noticable difference

As for the GPU part.. hmm.gif i believe 560Ti can still play skyrim on high with acceptable frames..
*
560Ti of course can play with acceptable frames. Just that whether you are really fine with this, or you want more eyecandy texture brows.gif

Its so sad that there are still some games out there cannot be played at maximum setting (with fps more than 50 onwards as I still feel jerky if fps is around 40 ) but have to rely on SLI or Xfire. Hoping the next series will be a big impact. smile.gif

Should be retailing now at around RM1449 (Viewnet price), probably around that range or so.
*
Thanks... I really don't know whether i should buy or not. Cause...

1) I rarely play games, but I love to play high detail games.
2) The framerate for certain games are still not pleasant. Example, crysis 2, and who knows maybe crysis 3 which after I read the specification requirement. laugh.gif
3) Even though PCI-e 2.0 and 3.0 don't make huge diff, but I prefer to have the card to run at a maximum utilization. cry.gif

It seems like these latest game are making difficulties to those newly card. The trend does look worse compare few year back. Graphic demand is getting higher considering high end card can only achieve around 60+fps for some newly games ( with such an expensive cost ). I think I will just wait the next series as new CPU is coming next year. Now just struggling to play these games with my 5870. sad.gif

Reception has been quite negative. If you watch the video, you will facepalm. Before there is NO PhysX, but after GeForce Experience, PhysX is turned on? sleep.gif

I think this is for those new to computers (and computer games) that find graphical terminologies difficult to understand. Or for those who just don't have the time to experiment with different settings.

Right now only a few games are available to be used under GeForce Experience. Great idea, but I really don't see hardcore gamers even thinking of using it.
Performance optimizations seem to be lacking as the GPU goes down from a high-end card. Blame it on console port? Anyways, "Far Cry 3" is really demanding on the maximum setting. Even my 680 seem to struggle here and there though smooth for most part. I don't think there are recent games that seem to throw everything at the screen like FC3.
*
It makes me remind of crysis 1 few years back, that time even the highest end graphic card couldn't satisfy the game demand, until 2 years later since the game had launched. I think the trend might come again following Far Cry 3, Crysis 3, and who knows, maybe assassin creed 3 and company of heroes 2.

Well, even if there are games like Crysis 1, it would just be a few. "Crysis 3" could be the next that can bring down any machine. As for AC3, it is more of case of poor optimizations. Not too sure about CoH 2. I notice you're using an i7 860, which is quite frankly... weak. I have an i7 870, had to overclock to 4GHz only then my GPU was able to perform at its intended level.
*
Even though its weak, but then nowadays CPU is not as demand in the latest games. The statistic test does show that the FPS affected after upgrade to the latest CPU is just increased around 1 to 2 fps, which is not worth it considered changing CPU as well as motherboard. Graphic Card does majority work throughout the game process.

Anyhow, i personally still waiting the next CPU trend which is next year which new model coming in. smile.gif

I guess some games may have some contraints on CPU. Nevertheless, my rig main issue that have made me to tune the performance is the graphic card. Imagine Nvidia 680 users do feel a bit jerky while playing. How about Radeon 5870. blink.gif

If upgrade, graphic card will be the first to upgrade. But this year is a bit different with others, cause quite a number of games cannot be run in a max setting if I buy the graphic card. Somemore new CPU is coming in. And I do hope that 20nm is coming in. ( Which apparently I don't think it will be on 2013, instead it will be on 2014 ). I will see how it goes.

Does anyone know whether reference card has a loud noise when it runs at full performance? Cause my eyes is on the cheapest 670, leadtek as getting 660TI is almost around the same price as leadtek.

The cheapest GTX 670 from Leadtek sells at around +/- RM1100. It is roughly on par with the HD 7970. While the cheapest Sapphire HD 7970 starts from around RM1299.

I just ordered the Leadtek GTX 670 card. Will collect it next Saturday.... once I got this card, I feel like wanna oc another 8% of it core and memory clock. tongue.gif

Anything can happen though, it all depends on how the competitor (AMD) acts against them.

Right now both of them are having the yield issue as we expected. But expecting new 700m series for laptop this year.

I believe 2014 is a good year to purchase new pc. As new processor, new graphic card and even better version usb 3.0 will be all out.

Still have 3 days more to collect my 670. I'm so excited to get this card and OC abit. laugh.gif

Cheapest 670 among all brands, Leadtek!!!

Yeah, i know..... reference card. laugh.gif But google it found out that there are still a little bit of space for me to oc. Though not much though.

Actually I only have 1.1k budget. And it seems like 670 performance is better than any 660Ti OC non-reference card. So I just get this. smile.gif

True, a HD 6870 is enough for today's games, but definitely with reduced settings. Since the HD 6950 promotion cards are sold off already, then i guess getting the HD 6870 is really a no-brainer. biggrin.gif

Actually i don't think it's purely Nvidia's fault. In newegg US, an Asus GTX 650 costs $125 (~ RM387), here in Malaysia it costs RM509. See the vast difference? Of course, we shouldn't compare our prices like that but when you start to take Leadtek cards into consideration, then all other brands (Asus, Gigabyte) are seriously way overpriced here. However, if you look again at the chart i provided above, there is a big gap between 650 Ti and 660's performance. IMHO, this is one of the sweet spot that i feel Nvidia has missed entirely. And this is where HD 7850 1/2GB are running circles around Nvidia's current best offering (650 Ti). sweat.gif
*
This year I have to admit AMD is able to grab the sweet spot this time but lose big in high end graphic card market. smile.gif
But this year it does look like Nvidia is the winner this time compare 2 gen ago. Nvidia share market also bounced back a lot, even though it still cannot covered back what they have lost since 2 years ago, but it is a fact that Nvidia is really capable in fighting against AMD. And with Nvidia is trying to grab the console market. Nvidia this time is seriously wanna dominate this year.

I saw you have a leadtek 670 which I will collect it tomorrow. Did you OC it? If you do, mind sharing with me the profile. wub.gif

Hey bro, i haven't OC it. Just installed it in yesterday. I guess i won't be OC'ing it anytime soon, it's already quite fast on stock speeds.biggrin.gif Manage to try out Far Cry 3 last night, Ultra settings and 4 x MSAA, measured around 40 - 50 FPS, seems low but it's very smooth actually. However, i find that AMD is visually more attractive (higher contrast i think) when i ran it on HD 7950. However, the gameplay feels a little more choppy compared to 670. As for the fan noise, yes you can hear some noise at full load, but it's nothing too irritating. tongue.gif
*
Ehh... O you just installed it as well ya... Yeah 40-50 fps looks kinda low, but anything that is above 40fps is considered playable. I personal feel that Nvidia has better visual attraction than AMD card, cause the texture and highlight is much richer. And I do agree with you that AMD cad does feel a bit choppy as my previous card was 5870 as well. But did you turn on the TXAA on far cry? Does the fps really drop until unplayable status?

I think there's no TXAA support on Far Cry 3. AC3 and COD:BO2 i know got. smile.gif TXAA supposedly gives on par visual quality with 8 x MSAA, but at only around 4 x MSAA performance impact. Better quality but taking less juice from the graphic card. biggrin.gif

I see i see. Unfortunately I can't run max speed using 660m on my laptop for assassin creed 3. Sad case. Hoping playing in desktop will give me another good experience. haha

Definitely what you will experience in desktop is leaps and bounds better than your 660M on lappy. I checked and 660M is around GTS 450 range only.

True, and with new technology and directx supported, it does make the mobile graphic card runs better than 450 or any old gen card that on par with this card.

I'm would like to test this on the Crysis 2 texture pack to see the graphic. I really love the graphic details in crysis 2. And I think Crysis 2 benchmark with texture pack fps is kinda low ( just like far cry 3 ). But yours is after applying the latest driver right? ( Cause release note mentioned that Far Cry 3 has been tuned and increase by 5% ).

Just tested my Leadtek 670 in my pc with several games like battlefield 3, Batman Arkham City GOTY, assassin creed 3 with all MAX setting under 1080p. Simply flawless, but I do have issue whereby, Batman Arkham City sometime will drop till 30fps for a second then back to normal. I'm wondering what happen....

Congrats bro. Did you enable Physx for Arkham City?

Try your 670 on Far Cry 3. It will bring it down on its knees. tongue.gif However still highly playable under Ultra Settings / 4 x MSAA @ 1080p.

Yeah, will try Far Cry 3 once I'm back home. Feel like wanna install Crysis 2 to check the graphic texture tongue.gif
