I'm paying more compared to my 4MB line. Got it at RM88 during the student promotion but the price remains even if i'm not a student anymore. yeahhh! my Dota 2, averaging at 350 ms.. it is soooo irrritating..

you can't compare this maxis ftth 10 mbps to ur streamyx 4mbps... u know why? bcoz it's worst than streamyx 1mbps, period.

I've been on the RM88 4mb Streamx Unipack plan.
Now the 24 month contract is ending.
I heard that we can continue with it.

Should I continue with the RM88 4mb Streamyx?
Or go on and install my RM118 10mb Maxis plan?

I'm really satisfied with this 4mb.
It's more than enough for me as I only use internet for work.
I hardly download and dont play games at all.
It's really stable. Never give me any headache.

Then when I look over at this Maxis thread, there seems to be a lot of problems with the router.
I need stability. That's the most important.

Don't know what to do.
Maxis installer will come in mid September.
I dont need IPTV.
I still can cancel it but Im still on the fence.
Is it worth it to pay RM30 extra for a 6mb more speed?
But then get a potential headache..

And does the modem/router need to be next to the TV?
Or can we put the modem/router wherever we want to like streamyx modem?

former streamyx 1 mbps, regretted after change to maxis ftth 10mbps... i use internet mainly for work purposes as well

the main thing missing in maxis ftth is stability... it's new and the engineers are inexperience... it may go wrong in the most unexpected manner... imagine web browsing can be slower than streamyx 512kbps... it sucks big time if stability is the thing you crave for

After 6 WD waiting and following up, for the last 2 days like 4 different persons call just to verify the address and want to install (THE EARLIEST) on 27th Sept. WTF? That is like 1 month from application.

What happened to the 2 weeks promised done by the KLCC Maxis sales office?

So I fak em and take up UNIfi. Confirm install in 1 week.

good 4u... god save u from heartache of maxshit ftth

the new router will still be Thomson.... so forget about getting other brands... the new Thomson will be in black box instead of white box... maxis already signed a long term contract with Thomson

Maxis will win "The Worst ISP of The Year Award" hands down if there is any... haha

And I foresee maxis will be the winner yet again for next 5 years, at the very least... why? because everything is contracted to 3rd party... from installation, customer service to network center

ANNOUNCEMENT:-
Maxis FTTH(Fiber To The Home) is changing its name to Maxshit FTTH(Fcuker To the Home)

while accessing the internet today, it's raining heavily with thunderstorm... notice something very weird

i noticed the moment b4 thunderstorm strike, my pc will show "the lan cable is disconnected" for about 5 seconds or so

this is happening consistently everytime the thunderstorm about to strike(i.e. when the lightning appear)

i suspect it has to do with the unifi line... but i am not sure which line is actually affected:-

1)from my condo point of connection(telephone room in the ground floor) to my house cable; or

2)the fibre cable laid in areas around condo

any ideas?

I am suspecting maxis is using my ftth as a hotspot. This happened only one week ago.

When I use my laptop with inSSIDer program to check, besides my wifiname, there is another one labeled as "maxis" with the same info, but with Open Security. If I turned off my wifi, the "maxis" will be gone as well.

If I use my ipad, this "maxis" will be shown as well.

When I check my thomson router setting, under Home Network -> Interfaces, asides from the normal LocalNetwork and VoIP, there are "dummy" and "Hotspot" label shown.

Is it something wrong with my wireless setting? How can I correct this?

Or is my FTTH is being use a hotspot by maxis?

If it's being use as a hotspot, is this legal?

Any of you guy is having the same issue?

You may get rid from maxis hotspot by reconfigure your Thomson RG. Jot down your High Speed Internet credential, VoIP credential and any custom port forwarding you have done and do the factory reset on that RG by pressing the reset factory button for a few seconds. Do Setup Wizard and don't enable the hotspot this time.
is it possible to disable the HotSpot directly via the 192.168.1.254 setting(without doing the factory reset)?
