yes u can replace the HSI heatsink for a better one...but the only problem is that the only good HSI heatsink is scarce here. and its also from zalman.

actually u can still use the stock HSI heatsink. and the airflow from the VF700 would still be able to cool it nicely.

EDIT: IMHO if i were u... i would

1/ keep the money to buy the VF700cu,
2/ sell the 6600 for around 200 (or mebbe more),
3/ then use the total (around RM335) and get muhself a Galaxy 7300GT 128mb DDR3 AGP that already comes with a Zalman VF700al brows.gif

*upgrade cooler and GC one shot brows.gif brows.gif*

mADmAN,
don't you think that HIS stock heat sink is good enough? i'm using HIS ATI 1300 stock HIS heatsink and it's not really hot.. i think the heat sink is big enough to dissipate heat.
do correct me if i'm wrong. thanks

i can't seems to check the temperature though... the GC don't seems to carry temperature probe..

u can find a 2pin to 3pin converter (don't ask me where to find it, i dunno)

better use the 3pin converter, lessen the burder of the vga to provide power to the cooler & don't connect the 3pin to the mobo as well, same thing, burden the mobo to provide power, just connect directly to 4pin molex la (which is directly from the psu power source), i said this bcoz of my experience

i got two mobo...
mobo one: all the 3pin on that mobo connects to a fan
mobo two: all fan connects directly to 4pin molex, including the cpu fan, luckily my psu got rpm reader, so i plug that into the cpu fan pin, thus avoiding the mobo to shut down (the mobo will shut down if no fan connects to the cpu --> unless u amend the BIOS to ignore it)...

mobo one: always end up for RMA --> every 6 month (ASUS A8N-SLI Deluxe) doh.gif
mobo two: still standing after 3 years, no RMA laugh.gif

E-J@1,
but normally mobo comes with those connectors,
what i'm trying to say is that the manufacturer should have cater enough energy consumption for the MOBO to supply to the fans,
do you re-wire your GC fan to the Molex for power?

Just researched about it at the Zalman website and yes, you are correct. The VF-700 is able to support 6600AGP as it comes with additional HSI heatsink.

@desmondgasper,

I guess this is the best for you right now and it does come at a cheap price. Slightly more than RM100 only...

akachester,

the only thing i don't like about zalman is the attached fan.. can we change the fan? as in removing the fan?
