I am thinking to get Peugeot 408 1.6T until I saw someone selling 2nd hand Volvo C30 2009 at almost the same price.
Both are 2 different category and I cant decide.

I hope all sifu who had come across Volvo C30 can share about its pro and con.

Do not worry about resale value?
Have spare cash for repair?
Don't mind expensive maintenance?

d last time i had a chat with swedish marque manager (special workshop) he asked me how was it to own volvo?

So, i told him: Yeah, great! Just like ur tag line "volvo for life!"

he was so flattered and asked me y since i was smiling sinisterly.....

So i told him: I'm stucked with volvo for life! coz couldn't sell d car, it has no value, expensive maint, etc....

thanks for your 2 cents, I havent come across with C30 repair and maintenance since there not much owner in Bolehland and insufficient infos on the web. Resale value? Emm.. I dont expect much in Peugeot and Volvo either.

i only know that, even lawyer(who makes good money)found its expensive to maintain and have to sell after 5 years.

Parts will difficult to find. So be prepared to stock up used or new parts at home.

For other models, kinda disagree. For this model TS mentioned, not sure.

If a common Volvo, agree with u but this model is quite rare so parts sure difficult to find even for chop parts. Chop shops don't simply bring in used parts if there are no market for them.

Oh Jessy dun b sad, it's not that bad.

Just that maintain it as per volvo's advice and keep for longer period of time!

My has done a fanstatical 26++ years on the road and still going strong!!!


Caveat: Stucked with it for most of 7~8 years + until loss the value kao2 den sell!

Loss some money in terms of value, but EARNED the service of a reliable car!

how many of these do u see on the roads? that's your answer. u get exclusiveness but at the other end u get EXCLUSIVE HEADACHES if something goes wrong. i can say this because my neighbour has a XC90. volvo isn't as reliable as u think. and if u want to sell it after 5 years, be prepared to loose 80% of it's value then.

as the chinese saying "cry also no tears" so u'll be forced to stick with it for life.

for that kind of price, u'll be better off buying a new ford focus TDCI

if main car, i wont advise a sekenhen volvo. can apply to most sekenhen cars of western made.

exclusive yes. But as always check the car condition first. Because u are buying used. you need to know the history. Unless you are buying with warranty.

if it is just regular service, it is not expensive. but spare part change, probably more expensive than japanese, but in par with VW and BMW.

if its par with VW and BMW then its still ok for me. but the resale value which drop 80% that had scared me away~
