With the dividends offered by Public Mutual funds, wouldnt it make sense to invest in say Kenanga Growth Fund (moderate risk) or Eastsprings Small Cap (very high risk) for better returns.

Why do people still invest in Public Mutual funds?

Brand recognition, consistency and service.

A fund is only as good as the agent/service.
So yeah if you got the time to keep up with financial news, dive into the reports, good planning and resource/asset allocation skills, those are good.

Not so for the average people. wink.gif

On the other hand, Public Mutual's small cap is comparable to Eastsprings's small cap. nod.gif

Im actually refering to the returns. Whats the point of having good agents if the fund doesnt perform?  doh.gif

Also in what way is Public Mutual's Small Cap fund comparable to Eastsprings Small Cap?
*
Public Mutual has like 70 + - funds.
There are good funds, bad funds.

Good ones are producing compounded roi of 11-13% for the past 10 years.
How is that bad?

Both small cap had been producing 14-15% compounded roi for the past 10 years or so.
I don't look at single year performance. smile.gif

When u say compounded you mean annualised return rite?

Also can you tell me a few of the best performing PM funds over the past 5 years?

Thanks

But ES Small Cap 1 yr return is 51.27%, 3 yr annualised is 26.0%, 5 yr annualised is 26.48% which is higher than PM Small Cap. Or is there something im missing?

In the 'Total Return' tab, if you look at 3 or 5 years return, yes ES SC is much better than PM SC.
But as I said I look at 10 years, their figure for 10 years are comparable. smile.gif

Note that there were no major downturn in the last 5 years. icon_idea.gif

Recently, I am thinking of repurchased few of my public funds, however, I am thinking of switching to money market fund rather than repurchase. So, I got few items need to clarify.

1. If I partial switch my equity fund to money market fund (more than 90 days), there is not cost involved, right?

2. If I switch back my money market fund to equity fund, does it only cost me RM25? I read it from latest prospectus.

3. If I buy into money market fund, the sc is 0%, right?

4. After I buy into money market fund, if I switch into equity fund, does it charge extra sc or just RM25 as indicated?
Actually I am confuse the switching charge between money market fund and equity fund, hope somebody can help me, thanks a lot.
*
1. Yes no cost. nod.gif

2. If your units are loaded-units (IE from equity > mm > equity), assuming you switch back after 90 days, it's RM25.

3. Yes 0%.

4. If you buy into money market fund, your unit are consider zero-load units, hence when you switch to equity funds you will have to pay 5.5%.

Hi guys,

Just did my 2nd withdrawal from EPF into PRSF as recommended by my agent.

My question is, if I would like to use cash to invest into unit trust, which fund should I invest?

My objective is simple, I just want the return is higher than normal FD, something higher than 4% is great for me I guess and of course higher is better. Planned to hold it as long as I can.

If unit trust average return is higher than FD, I would like to convince my mother to switch over her FD into unit trust for better return.
Appreciate anyone can enlighten me on this. Thank you very much.

For conventional funds, PRSF and PDSF are my favourite. smile.gif

^ don't fix it if it ain't broke smile.gif

The worst PDSF did was -10.16% while PRSF managed -23.24% during the 2007 subprime crisis.
Defense is the best offense. flex.gif

To me they have the best risk/reward ratio among the other equity funds in Public Mutual.
You can't go wrong with 11-12% of 10 year CAGR. icon_rolleyes.gif

When you're near your initial investment goal.
Or your risk appetite decreased as you aged/family commitment.
