Of course they are expensive.
every one of them are custom made, can customize the LED light below every key to different color,
can change the key settings like goes without the Window keys, and etc etc.
you can even ask for a non-assembled set then DIY your own welding soldering and selecting different switches,
then then case, the mount board, the feet, everything can be customized.

Those are the Legendary "KMAC".

The keyboard for a true keyboard maniac.

I owned a Filco(blue switch), a steelseries(black switch) and now I m using a Leopold(red switch).
the Filco has a overall premium keyboard feel to it,
steelseries overall build quality surpasses the others,
and the Leopold has the lowest price tag among these keyboards.

I sell off the steelseries and the filco, because I think the red switch suit me best,
but the Leopold's spacebar are starting to annoying me.

if you are not going to change the keycaps for your keyboard often and play with various keycaps,
Leopold is definitely your choice, if you are going to buy plenty of keycaps(like me)
and change them from time to time, then for Steelseries and Leopold you might need to think twice
especially the Steelseries, its BIGASS enter key are very difficult to find replacements...

For Leopold, its spacebar...
the hole positioned on the spacebar only fit for Leopold and Keycool keycaps.
most of the time it is not a problem,
since the spacebar are blank, and it's length are same with the standard spacebar,
so when you replace the whole keycaps set that is the same color,
and not changing the spacebar, the keycaps set still look OK...

But when you replace your whole keycaps set to an entire different color keysets,
then the spacebar that different color really look bad on it.

we started the O-rings bulk order from Taobao not long ago,
and it is being shipped to us even as we chat.

I got myself 5 packs of thick rings,
might be selling one pack or two,
will let you know the price after I got them.

If you want to buy that is.

I never used the one from WASDkeyboards,
they have a thick one and a thin one?
or they have a hard one and a soft one...?

anyway, we are getting 2 type, those are of same hardness,
just the thickness are different, but the effect are mostly the same,
the distance to bottoming out is reduced by the thickness of the rings,
so the thinner one will effect less, on the other hand, the thicker one will effect more.

I got myself 5 packs of thick O-rings,
You can get some from other guys that got thin O-rings,
and compare it yourself.

btw, the thick one are not recommended to use on the Cherry original height keycaps.

Let me know if you find out a way to get it to Malaysia,
I might tag along one unit if it is within my budget.

Quite impressive, I have made 2too, one for my rf, one for my hhkb, will upload photos when I m back, now at jb.

$80USD seems quite high for a base kit?
is there more than 87 keys for the base kit?

the Red Alert is double shot,
but still ABS, I prefer PBT ove ABS......
the Imsto's grey/white with red legends printed dye-sub,
the price is ok ok compare to ABS double shot.
atleast it doesn't go shiny as soon as ABS,
and the legend printed with dye sub are permanent too,
at least according to the seller.

I save one keyboard to use all the keycaps, 1 set 87 PBT black, 1 set 104 PBT white,
1 set 104 ABS black Blank, 1 set 104+ ABS 2shot Cream Cheese and Green, 16 keys 2shot billiards,
various 2shot Esc Keys (around 10), 16 ABS red blank, all those are for Cherry Mx.

only 2 sets for Topre... 87 orange sub-dye, 60 white/grey HHKB sub-dye.....

ordered Sanctuary 2shot 104+ keys too.

I see alot people in GH want to buy it now......
Wonder how much it worth now, in GH.

cyclonechua is getting it that time, so he asked anyone interested,
so I say I want one set, he ordered one extra set for me and one more for dunno-who.
he getting 3 sets from Geekhack, so the shipping from USA are quite high, because not many people sharing.

That was back at April, and then Geekhack down, and up again recently,
then when I check Geekhack, they say they already sending the keycaps,
I pm cyclone and he told me he already got the keycaps
so I ask him how much, he told me that 3 people sharing postage so its high,
but I think its within acceptable range, and I paid him and he sent it to me,
last months.

From April To August..... 4 months+ total.
The price and rarity also raised between these time.

The quantity they produce depend on how many sets people are ordering,
they do not make extra sets to stock up and sell later,
people order how many set, they made how many set, no extra.
that's why they wait so long, to collect many many sets to order together.

So all sets are sold out when they start shipping,
maybe some one order extra sets to sell later,
but they won't sell low price of course.
that's how the group buy work,
like the Red Alert also, when they started the group buy for it in the beginning,
it was USD$60++, now selling USD$80++ already.

If you want to start to order again, you need to make around 100++ sets
one time, then the price will be below USD100,
if you can't get that many sets, they usually would not start another group buy.


Go geekhack Classified and see for yourself,
many people are looking for those double shot sets even now,
not many are willing to let go,

last time I check, there isn't any one selling their
Cream Cheese and Green (CC&G) set.

The 2shot ABS touch are "softer" in a way, compare to PBT's stiffness,
and the Legend are way higher in contrast compare to the sub-dye print
applied on PBT caps.

and ABS has no limit to the color selections,
you can have red on blue background,
and white on red like the red alert modifier keys,
for PBT, the printed color must be darker than the keys background colors.

for PBT, even thou it is likely beyond human's finger typing capabilities to wear the key's legend away,
the 2shot ABS keys are wear resistant even to tools wearing, et. if even you use sand paper to sand it
half way to the middle of the key, the legend are still there.

I think sub-dye can be sanded off with sand paper.

Alert! Warning! These might sting your eyes! lol!

My Leopold, with double shot CC&G modifiers, and some Cherry thick doubleshot I got sometime ago,
since the modifiers of the old cherry keyboard doesn't fit to my Leopold switch stem position,
I have set them aside for a few months now, until I tried the black + green combination,
I find it not bad and realize that I have these doubleshot white on black keys sitting ideally in my drawer!
So I put them on, replacing the Leopold's A~z, numbers, and etc x1.0 keys, and replace the modifier with the green modifier from the CC&G sets, turn out not bad at all! then since there are many others double shot sitting in the drawer too, I start playing around with it, until what shows on the photo @@..... What to say.?

I replace the black 8 ball with the red lightning bolt key, since one black key at that position aren't fit in well.
Alien at Insert key, (there might be some shape shifting Aliens inserted among human race as spy?)
and far away~ key are Alien too.
Solviet hammer sickle at Esc, 5 and 0 key,
the home and end key replace with the reverse and inverse Pi key,
cat paw on page up and down, foot prints, why not?
/ key for lightning bolt, same angle anyway.
the yin and yang, for the arrow keys, in x and y axis, some how reflect the ancient Chinese philosophy, no?
J & F, the CC&G's Cream color with green lettering, for easier recognition.
the spacebar are still the original one from Leopold, can't tell from its look?

USD$100~USD$150. for a keycap.

At that price, many people have to work whole month for it.

its made by clack factory, its a person who made the keys himself and sell them once in a while,
all his keycaps are sold withing 30minutes after he announce it,
and every one are allowed to buy one only, so every one who got the keys will not let go of it,
only very few are willing to sell or trade them.

just lurk at geekhack more, and go grab the keys as soon as he announce it.
