Can somebody tell ASTRO to remove the compulsory subtitle in channel 702 - diva universal ?

All the other channels in 7xx has no subtitle except this channel which clutters up the screen.

Subtitle should be optional for pay tv.

Hi.  I am new to this forum.  I wonder if anyone else is experiencing a problem which I am currently having.  Would appreciate if someone can share the solution.

I am subscribed to Astro Byond with HD.  After recording any HD show on the PVR, and playing back to watch, I experienced frequent interruption to the show.  The show just freezes like it went into pause, then resume.  The interruption can be very frequent, about 10 to 20 times in an hour show.  Each interruption can last for about 2 seconds to even about 2 minutes.

This problem did not arise when I got the PVR in Feb 2011.  It’s only started about 3 months ago.   I wonder why this is so.  The hard disc is only about 25% recorded.
*
I encountered the same situation.

It means your hard disk is going to go bust soon in one or two months time.

That's what happened to my hard disk after one year and the stupid astro came and replaced everything ie. new recorder and hard disk !

I couldn't even watch or retrieve all my past recorded programs. cry.gif

Is Disney XD (617) available in the family package ?

I didn't subscribe to the 'fun/cartoon' subpackage but I can see the channel.

But I am subscribed to HD channels ie. I get to see Disney XD HD (637).

Can anyone without HD channels and without fun/cartoon package confirm for me ?

Yes. Both SD and HD one are available on basic one. (Hopefully Astro didn't put the HD one into fun package later on) smile.gif

The HD channels are only available if you pay rm 20 more.

So the SD channel is in family package and NOT fun package ? ohmy.gif Thanks for info.

One should be tvN HD (has since been rebranded as Channel M as of 24rd November 2012), a Korean channel.
*
Why so many korean HD channels ? One HD, KBS HD and now channel M ?

Can we have discovery science HD or BBC HD ?

Good luck requesting for BBC through Assteruk. Assteruk hates BBC, claims no one watch. And now BBC not in very good term with Assteruk after they found out Assteruk butcher their news channel...
Astro is a puppet of govt, how can they censor news from BBC ?
Anyway, I am fine with no BBC HD but can we have Channel news asia or HD 5 from Singapore ?

I went to Thailand and even they have channel news asia on their satellite dishes

So why not malaysia who is our nearest neighbour and most of us have many relatives and friends residing/working in singapore ? hmm.gif

. It's only available on TM and DETV at the moment, but most likely ABN will also have it. And on TM it's delayed 5 minutes for censorship also...
I don't have TM or DETV, only astro.

So how to watch ?

Wat is DETV ? icon_question.gif

IPTV from Redtone, only popular among Chinese people since it mainly carries China channels, but in it's handful of non-Chinese channels it has CNA. Still alive because it has a small but loyal group of subscribers, and because it isn't ISP-locked. You can plug the decoder into Streamyx, P1, UniFi, etc, and it will still work.

Hmmm, Just checked their website, CNA no longer listed >.< But it's still listed on the CNA page at Wikipedia >.<

Anyways, you know you can watch CNA on www.hypp.tv even if you don't have UniFi? The www.hypp.tv IPTV is a stripped down version of TM IPTV meant for Streamyx users, dun have a lot of channels that is on TM IPTV, but they're still carrying FashionTV SD (which has been dropped from TM IPTV- TM IPTV now only carries FashionTV HD) and they do have CNA.

How come there's no ad from Redtone in the mainstream media ?

How much is the monthly fees ?

Hi everyone.
Currently Im having a problem with my Astro PVR Decoder.
Each time when I change to a channel,it takes few seconds(more than 5 seconds sometimes).
My decoder still have 80 hours of empty space.
Another problem is when i watch some of the recorded program. Sometimes it will stuck and wont play smoothly.
Hence i have to forward it till the program run as normal. And there are few times its just stuck like that where I couldn't forward it at all.
Anyone encounter similar problem like this..?
*
I encounter this problem before.

Just turn off the pvr completely ie. plug off the power. Then turn on after few minutes to boot up.

If problem still not solved after two more power off, then call astro to change box.

What about hokkien viewers ?

We have free for

Mandarin viewers - 301, 308 (HD)

Cantonese viewers - 304, 305

Hokkien viewers - NONE mad.gif

333 don't count as we have to subscribe to another package.

Not to mention why NHK World ch.398 is STILL on Chinese pack... sweat.gif  doh.gif

How many Japanese are there in Malaysia , not even 1%. Out of these 1%, how many are free to watch ?

If ASTRO depend on japanese market, then ASTRO will go bankrupt. laugh.gif

That's why they package it with chinese pack because japanese, korean have similarities with chinese.

They share same face and some common chinese characters. whistling.gif

Only chinese watch japanese or korean shows.

Malays watch indonesians and arab shows.

Indians watch indian, pakistan, sri lanka or bangladesh shows.

watch Doraemon or Naruto, or Dragon Ball?
*
doraemon, dragon ball are all cartoons mostly watched by children of all races even though they don't understand them.

What i am talking about are non-children japanese shows with jap cuisines, jap culture etc .
NHK channels are not all cartoons but mostly of japanese culture, cuisines, temples etc.

Jap costumes (kimono), chopsticks/wok, writing system, architecture etc are actually copied from the chinese. And also buddhism in japan is similar to china.

Do you think malays are interested in these ?

Remember 1993-1994? When Japanmania instead was sweeping through Malaysia? TV3 showing Japanese serials dubbed into Malay. The fact that it's dubbed into Malay says that Chinese folks aren't the main audience...
*
Which non malay movies/shows are not dubbed into malay subtitles on free TV ? laugh.gif

They want to put into malay subtitles even if nobody watches it because they think it is the national language.
Anyway, a lot of chinese don't know enough mandarin or cantonese but they understand malay. The mandarin/cantonese spoken in malaysia are of 'primary school level' and insufficient to understand HK, china, taiwan serials.

At that time, there were not many TV channels, tv1, tv2, tv3, ntv7 so the malays have no choice but to watch.

Nowadays the malays have many more programmes and choices to watch, if you see their astro packages subscribed, those are mainly the malay/arab/indonesian packages and not the chinese, korean or jap packages.

Hi! I wanna ask, how to reduce the response time of the beyond controller?
When I want to change a channel, press a number the light will blink few times before I can press another one. It was not like this before....
*
Turn off and on your astro box .

The old astro box is faster, the new one has speed problem...

Correction - cantonese includes 311 and soon to be in HD 310.

Actually 308 is the previous 310 HD channel. They just excluded those programmes aired in 311. So there's actually no addtional channel but just that we can watch 311 in HD this coming 13th.

Btw, last time 309 HD is free for those subscribing to Beyond. Why did they take it out?
*
I am talking about the free family package.

Most of us are not rich enough to subscribe to dynasty package ie. 310, 311.

Never knew there was a 309 HD. whistling.gif What is it ?

They should include a free hokkien channel in family package.

If they cannot get a taiwan hokkien channel , then at least get a xiamen hokkien channel as xiamen channels are free worldwide.
