You must subscribe to both 322 celestial channel AND HD services to view 309.

Just subscribe to rm 20 HD services won't get you 309 but you can view 308 from 13 jan onwards.

Just subscribe to 322 channel without HD services mean you can only view 322.

Astro way of earning more money for themselves...

By right, this is ASTRO numbering system followed by all packages.

Chinese channels:

300-309 Family package
310-319 Special package ie. Dynasty
320-329 Special package ie. Emperor
330-389 HD channels
390-399 Japanese and Korean

News channels:

500-509 Family package
510-529 News package
530-549 HD channels of news package

Learning channels:

550-569 Learning package
570-589 HD channels of learning package

English variety channels:

700-709 Family package
710-719 Variety package
720-729 HD channels of variety channels


As you can see, the HD channel are usually +20 from the SD channel eg. 721 is HD AXN from 701 (add 20), 575 is HD history from 555.


ASTRO chinese channels administrator screwed up the original numbering system ie. there is no system

By right,

Celestial HD should be 322 + 30 = 352 (NOT 309)

Wah lai toi HD should be 311 + 30 = 341 (NOT 310)

Quan Jia HD should be 308 + 30 = 338 (NOT 308)

AEC HD (if there is one in the future) should be 301 + 30 = 331

Hua Hee Dai should be renumbered to 323 (part of emperor package) (NOT 333)


Variety channels

Granada TV is also screwed up, it should belong to 70x (family package) instead of 735.
The variety HD channels should be renumbered from 72x to 73x. (+30 instead of +20) to make way for the BIO package.


In this way, it is easier for viewers to remember.

The chinese channels numbering is very messy and not systematic.

We cannot use the 'next' or 'previous' to browse through the channels in our package.

We have to remember which channel it is and press 'xxx'.

It usually happen when you press the pause button or rewind. Then it takes a few minutes for subtitle to reappear.

I think it is speed problem. The processor is not powerful enough.

Go to thailand and china. They can have free satellite. why not malaysia ?

I went to Thai embassy few days ago.

They can receive Thai channels.

Anybody know how I can subscribe to Thai channels ?

Why astro don't have Thai free channels and Singapore free channels (our nearest neighbours )


Singapore can receive free TV channels from Malaysia but KL and Penang cannot.

Astro is a greedy monopoly. charging rm 20 just for hd channels.

Tolls - UMNO cronies

Old package:

family = rm 40
HD = rm 20
emperor = rm 22

Total = rm 82

New Waa package:

Old package above plus Wah Lai Toi

Total = rm 75

So the savings is just only rm 7 , but you get additional free Wah Lai Toi channel

How pathetic ! A cheap way to pull in new customers to sign up for emperor package.

They should drop to rm 50 , then it's a deal.
