i play with mixed of low and medium setting.
super smooth on country side but uber lag in the city.

i limit the framerate to 30fps to "reduce" the stuttering.

Hello to all u young sifus! I am a novice/dinosaur and know next to nothing about pc technology, but I need your inputs/help.

I bought a DV6 6001tx for my wife last May and she's happily streaming videos online and watching in HD clarity.

So, yesterday when I went to Harvey Norman in IPC and saw the same PC on offer at rm2399, I bought it for myself. I added 4G ram for rm150. Too tired to use it last night but just turned off the charger after 8 hours.

This morning, switched on the pc and wifi and was prompted to install flashplayer 11. Since my pc is new and empty I thot why not and installed it (not sure if this is related to my problem). After that my nightmare began :

After launching my google homepage, I clicked youtube and it took forever to download. I opened another window and tried to download the Star newspaper and again, the page won't download. I knew I have a problem.

I called HP on their 1800 line and spoke to a guy who guided me to uninstall the Ralink wireless adaptor and restart the pc to get it installed again - that didn't help. So he told me that he will send me an e-mail with steps to guide me to reinstall the OS (wow!). He told me that if that doesn't work, it is probably a hardware failure That was around 2 pm and till now I have not received his e-mail.

I am thinking of taking my pc to the HP service centre at D'sara Heights tomorrow morning. However, since I chanced upon this dedicated thread, I thought I might as well get some inputs/advice/help from all you good sifus.

does your wifi icon show "Connected" with Internet Access? or it show yellow ! sign?
you can't access internet with Internet Explorer too?

I can access the internet. The icon shows connected and signal is excellent. I can launch the home page but subsequent downloading of any other website is very, very slow.

In some cases, the page could not download completely even after 10 mins or more.

Only happened on Google Chrome? Can try install Opera? You can download it from here.

Btw, what is the version of your Google Chrome? You can check by typing About:Version in the Omnibox/Url box.

Also, can u try ping TheStar website? since you can't access it. You do it by pressing
Win key + R and then type CMD. Press Enter. In the command prompt window, type ping www.thestar.com.my -t .
If your connection is ok, you should get something similar like the image below, 0% loss. (end the command by pressing Ctrl+C)

Thanks for giving all these pointers, but I don't think I dare to do it..

Anyway, I'm not using google chrome. Not sure whether I understand the terms, but I can access or get the Star home page i.e can download but after around 10 mins (that's super long right?) and if I click anything else, the response will again be very long..it is like..hang?

Remember I mentioned that I downloaded the flashplayer this morning? You don't think that has anything to do with this problem?

Lol.. then you can try uninstall Flash Player from Programs and Features and see what happen.

How do I check that please?

Mine is internet explorer. Guess what :

I could not uninstall the flash player previously because I had an internet page opened. This time, I 'accidentally' closed the internet page and managed to uninstall the flash player and ... spoof!

Cool, but without Flash player you won't be able to enjoy the interweb so much. Mostly you can't play Youtube video and you can't play Facebook games.
I recommend download and install Google Chrome, it have built in flash player.

I don't know about facebook games, but I can certainly play youtube video even without the flashplayer. However, I do notice that some videos being shared by facebookers require flashplayer.

Ok, I will consider the google chrome.

Unfortunately my laptop DV6-6114TX telah kena curi. really downhearted as the laptop as really serve me so well. Oh well, now need to kumpul duit back buy a new one. Maybe going for dv6 also. Uhuk3

You can use Minitool Partition Wizard Home Edition or just run Window Disk Management and remove the drive letter.
