Reverthing back to older driver will fix this but sometime it a hit or miss. Another method you can try is by increasing your idle clock and volt via Overdrive config.

how can i do that?

That is a really old model, not the one we discussed in this thread. It's probably using Sata 2 port so upgrading to SSHD won't give u full performance of that drive.
HWINfO.
You never service it after all these years? laugh.gif

Acid, i've done disassemble my laptop, reapply new thermal paste and clean my fan/heatsink. It lasted for a day and today it getting hotter again. What did i do wrong? Maybe the fan faulty or bad thermal paste maybe. Can you give me a way for me to troubleshoot the problem. Thanks in advance.

What is the temperature?
Is the fan spinning?
Can u feel hot air coming out from the vents?
What method you used for the thermal paste application?
*
The temperature is 86 and sometime comes up to 93.
Got alot noise coming from the fan but i can only feel a little hot air coming from the side.
What method? I just put enough paste on top of cpu and gpu. Is it correct?

I'm not using TurboBoost.
The fan spinning rapidly.
I suppose i'm using pea size amount for thermal paste and its no brand thermal paste... Huhuhu

This might be a stupid and obvious question, but is there anything blocking the fan intake, vent, or the path of the air in-between?  Since you say that the fan spins rapidly but only a little hot air comes out, it sounds to me like there's a physical blockage instead of you not putting your thermal paste on properly.
*
Thanks for the info. i just open back my laptop. Maybe thermal paste that i use is not good. It did not stick to cpu properly. Just like glue... Huhuhu. Maybe i need to use better thermal paste. Is there any recommendation for thermal paste?

and where can i buy dv6 cpu fan other than service centre?

I changed my fan DV6-6168TX at Vistacomm-IT Mall Section 14. 1st floor. However, my HP model, the design itself was flawed. It has only 1 fan for discrete switchable GPU & Intel i7.

No choice but to improvise with this!

Does it work? Cannot say is awesome but does a better job vacuuming heat out from a single fan chassis. It needs its own power adapter not just 5V of USB power.

nice! where can i get one of those? my cpu temperature keep hitting above 80... huhuhu

i've got few question that need to be answered

1. how can i successfully install ati graphic driver without having black screen and blinking cursor? what's the stable driver from leshcat catalyst that i can use?

2. is there any trusted seller that sell hdd tray that disguise as dvd-rom drive? thinking want to add ssd into mine.

1. I think only older driver working, give me few days to try since i disabled my dGPU because of my OSX installation.

2. I'm not sure if Casey still selling it, try ask him here or PM him.
*
1. because lately when i'm trying install new catalyst driver, the screen will turn black with blinking cursor after i finish install the ati driver, everytime. search the google and found out that maybe i'm using the new driver. but i always use the same driver everytime i'm installing graphic driver. another one is maybe the graphic chipset has been spoiled and i hope that is not the case. really loved this laptop... huhuhu

2. for dv6 we are using SATA right? what's the difference between SATA and mSATA? what's the best SSD for DV6?

thank you for your reply Acid_RuleZz

1. Yeah, previously i tried new catalyst also resulted in black screen.

2. SATA, DV6 don't have mSata/Mini-Sata. Best is subjective bro, i currently using 2x 80GB Intel X25M, a very old SSD but speed is still many times faster than HDD. That is the best SSDs for me. laugh.gif

1. cannot play games for awhile... huhuhu. really want to play need for speed badly

2. at least it running flawlessly right? hihihi
