QUOTE(liquidvamp @ Nov 4 2013, 03:50 PM) even though we are demanding our salary, they won't understand that doing graphics need to use creativity and time consuming. they will think that it's easy and if we are demanding too much, they still can hire fresh grad which they can pay like RM1.8k. save company's money, thus increase KPI. lol. u might wana start building your cantact and work freeelance on your own.im looking for a job after i get my bonus. will try to search for a company who's not really a graphic company, but they need a designer. it's hard, it's there. from my observation, designing companies doesn't appreciate it's own designers. from my past experience la. even my current company. T_T ok enough rant. i can go on till tomorrow if i wanna rant about out designing scene in Malaysia. sad. p/s: got vacancy at ur company? haha. i have cert for those too. XD i heard thoose 4A agency able to pay 4-6k for designer. try your luck there but prepare to sacrafire your life. |

QUOTE(M1X @ Mar 4 2014, 04:20 PM) Just sharing tid-bit here... 1k for 10-15 render, u are spoiling the market!!! First job from June 2012 till now, RM1200 (not yet minus late, EPF, insurance... damn... sounds really scary to you, right? Yes it is scary), in a small construction company. Dealing with 2D/3D structure/interior designs/documentation, tools up to myself - using Sketchup + Layout since I never learnt CAD. Layout can achieve the same thing anyway. At least my life don't require huge spending in this little city, no pay house, no pay car, no pay whatever loan, so it is still manageable with that salary amount. But seriously, of course I need MORE! Thinking of going freelance (not quiting the current job lah, since it is not really "busy" type of job). Was once helped friend's company deal with a render project, $1k for 10-15 renders include modelling, not bad for a few days work really. If only there are more work source... But for now, I think I better spent my time horning my skills first, since most of my time in this construction company actually deal with CAD drawing instead of doing rendering. Duh, I didn't signed up to do those stuff... |

QUOTE(cgfx @ May 11 2015, 12:32 AM) sorry etsuko - mind elaborate abit? How old are u know?i'm the main guy in my office that handles 3D/visualization work. in fact, that is what i was hired for. shouldn't my main priority be completing my task and be better at it? are you saying that i should branch out in other area's, become a 'multitasking' person? U wanna stay at this position only doing 3d sitting on your office chair all day till u get old? By the time u 28 yo you will feel that you can't compete with fresh grad especially in paid. They are cheap! While u planning on marry and setting up a family. Will your salary enough for you? Golden age of designer are very short, most at its young age. |

QUOTE(Flanegan @ Mar 24 2016, 09:13 PM) I think it's all on individual which path they want to be.. Do you have a registered company or corporate partner?Me personally, I can't see myself entering office staring at the computer, going to pantry fill-up my teabag and then sitting down wait for assignment to come it from the boss or leader of the division and stay 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm anymore. So I took the other path and give it a try... At first, not that fun because reality suddenly hits you when you get shut or your feeling got play. For example, manage to had meeting with them. On the way to the office and suddenly cancel for no reason or having long conversation with them and 2 hours later they shows no interest on your business. The feeling you left the office sometimes can snap you like in Korean Drama.. haha I'm getting used to it already and able to read their mind.. You dont always seek success on the 1st try, meeting them is an opportunity, to service them you have to know their mind, what they want. i actually went on an interview for a job offer that i am not interested, having a conversation with corporate leader are brilliant, how they think, how far they see and what they aim. |

QUOTE(ChannelChan @ Mar 9 2017, 01:44 PM) not adidas/nike . but 3k damn little . is the designer scene drop dead till like this . how if we grow older max is like 6k? sadzz.. Not design scene drop. The consumer market changes! You have to look around which people controlling the market now. Yes it's China and they are very competing in the market. And continued to expand it's power for the next 5-10 years. Unlike the old western style, people pay for design charges and pay for production cost. Double charges! No matter u like it or not these cina man are in power now. They pay money, they want design their products ready. Production : 20K for 1000pcs corporate annual report booklets print bind and deliver. Client: OK! OK! Designer : 5K for design charges only Client : why de fuk so expensive? You hardly do anything!!! |

I am interior designer so now may know what I'm doing now. I love to meet any designer exchange our opinion towards the industry. After all design is not a business, it's a community where great people love beautiful things. Make love not War among our industry. This post has been edited by blek: Mar 9 2017, 06:43 PM |
