even though we are demanding our salary, they won't understand that doing graphics need to use creativity and time consuming. they will think that it's easy and if we are demanding too much, they still can hire fresh grad which they can pay like RM1.8k. save company's money, thus increase KPI. lol.

im looking for a job after i get my bonus. will try to search for a company who's not really a graphic company, but they need a designer. it's hard, it's there. from my observation, designing companies doesn't appreciate it's own designers. from my past experience la. even my current company. T_T

ok enough rant. i can go on till tomorrow if i wanna rant about out designing scene in Malaysia. sad.

You guys need to form a Designer Union among yourself, and get get these greedy ass company start paying more for your work, am pretty much sadding looking and reading from all your so called "Designer Salary" .

As for me am also in IT but more to support in Windows, Server, Network, LAN but that is just support and am getting 5.5K + 500 allowance with only 3 years experience.

Start demanding more guys, with upcoming GST + Subsidies cut + Inflation + Deficit of RM value, how you guys are going to survive ??

First job from June 2012 till now, RM1200 (not yet minus late, EPF, insurance... damn... sounds really scary to you, right? Yes it is scary), in a small construction company. Dealing with 2D/3D structure/interior designs/documentation, tools up to myself - using Sketchup + Layout since I never learnt CAD. Layout can achieve the same thing anyway.

At least my life don't require huge spending in this little city, no pay house, no pay car, no pay whatever loan, so it is still manageable with that salary amount.

But seriously, of course I need MORE! Thinking of going freelance (not quiting the current job lah, since it is not really "busy" type of job).
Was once helped friend's company deal with a render project, $1k for 10-15 renders include modelling, not bad for a few days work really. If only there are more work source... But for now, I think I better spent my time horning my skills first, since most of my time in this construction company actually deal with CAD drawing instead of doing rendering. Duh, I didn't signed up to do those stuff...    But well, get some knowledge anyway.

First Job(Fresh Graduate) :apply as 3D Animator - 2k for 16 months

2nd Job: 3D Animator- 3k for 8months

3rd Job: 3D Animator - 4k for 5 months (contract)

4th Job: 3D Animator - 4.2k for 2 months (post production house, dont expect to go home on time, work until at least 10pm-1am)

5th Job: 3D Animator - 4k current

I was thinking of becoming a freelancer as well but my networking might not as good as others. Plus I have financial commitment every month because I'm not from local as my family not here. Every single thing that I've spent does matter. So until now I still not dare to take freelance job. Still permanent job is more suitable for people like me.

i'm the main guy in my office that handles 3D/visualization work. in fact, that is what i was hired for.

shouldn't my main priority be completing my task and be better at it?

Go out, print small design profile of yours.
Search any company you think you can improve their visual design. Find their HQ phone and address.
Approach with thick skin, if you got shut in-front of the door.

Move on.... Look for other one.

I think it's all on individual which path they want to be..
Me personally, I can't see myself entering office staring at the computer, going to pantry fill-up my teabag and then sitting down wait for assignment to come it from the boss or leader of the division and stay 9am-5pm or 10am-6pm anymore.

So I took the other path and give it a try...
At first, not that fun because reality suddenly hits you when you get shut or your feeling got play.
For example, manage to had meeting with them. On the way to the office and suddenly cancel for no reason or having long conversation with them and 2 hours later they shows no interest on your business.

The feeling you left the office sometimes can snap you like in Korean Drama.. haha

I'm getting used to it already and able to read their mind..
