Newbie to Gunpla. May I know is it that, as long as we see the product is from BanDai then it is the Japanese product? Next, how shall we spot whether the kit is pre-painted or need paintjob? I don't wish to go into paintjob yet for my first Gunpla.

most knockoffs dun hav Bandai logo and hav weird names like gundoom or something. If u c Bandai logo chances are its the real deal (ive seen some boxes whr thr is a Bandai logo but its fake but those r quite rare), to be safe just buy from a reputable seller/shop then u wont hav to worry.

All Bandai kits r pre-painted, its just that some r less detailed then the others. In NG, HG and old MG for instance, alot of color separation are done via stickers if u dun mind this then u wont hav to paint but most of us here hates stickers n treated it like its an incarnation of hell thus most of us avoided it with a 10 foot pole. Me personally ill burn it then pee on it to put the fire out then stomp on it and flush it down the toilet....

New MG n RG hav excellent color separation even small small stuff usually is modded in a separate tree (with diff color if required) thus newer kits there is no reason to even paint it unless u dun like its default colors.

The recent photo release of Mg Nu Ver. KA. You guys notice the article mentions about "LED"? Anyone know what is that about?

Here....clearer scans from gunjap.

I guessing that led is for eye light up feature like the Marasai. It still unknown if they will include in the box or buy separately assuming it compatible that is.

Actually I'm not concerning about "Made in Japan" or what, but somehow saw some China brand gundam, so may want to avoid those. Actually I'm planning to get online, as it seems to have better deal online than at the shop. That's why need some confirmation first.
*
don't worry, as long as it's Bandai logo, it's original smile.gif
China pirated ones uses their own brand name & logo, eg. TT, Gao Gao, Model GD

as for painting, non of the current Gunplas are pre-painted
and most kits still need some painting, whether it's major or minor paintjob depends on the grade
however all kits come molded in the main colours already, unlike in the 80's where kits are only molded in a single colour
so your can skip painting entirely, you'll still get a kit about 80-90% in their supposed colours
and building Gunplas doesn't necessarily means your must paint, more than 50% people out don't paint icon_rolleyes.gif
if you really want to avoid painting at all costs, I suggest you to get RG, as it comes in all the correct colour, with a few details needed but stickers are provided icon_idea.gif

as for prices, most online prices are cheaper, but by not much, and most need to pay postage fees
unless your are not from KL area, I suggest you go Berjaya Times Square check out the hobby shops there
NOTE: if you are comparing with Jusco, Isetan, Metrojaya, Toys R Us, etc prices, it's not online shops that are cheaper, it's because these places marked up the price sweat.gif

most likely similar with MG Marasai, which I predicted before on what contributes to it's 7000yen price tag, that is a LED light up gimmick, most probably in the chest to light up the eyes & head cameras

Thanks for the explanation! In fact I'm planning to go for MG directly. RG is better than MG? Probably I will go BTS to check out and see. So far checked gundam.my only.

what specific gundam you are looking for?
RG is good in colour separation a lot. MG not bad either... at least you look at box...all MG is looks like that. (of course you need to the basic pen lining la)

you can try google the even old MG RX-78-4 / RX-78-5... it is not bad too. (as long as don't show inner frame of course for that one...)

You might want to check dalong.net for surveys and reviews as well, to see which one suits you best in term of what you want smile.gif

Or get a HG.
Newer release HGUC won't disappoint you. Except HGUC Zaku Marine. The eye won't even move, garghhhh D:<

if u r a newbie (as in completely new to model kit building), i'll advise u to avoid RG for now. Its cheaper then most MG but also more fragile and alot of small parts + alot of work on detailing, if ur not use to handling those parts it'll break eventually.

just go for basic MG that r not too expensive and not too complicated. Avoid all transformable suits due to the way its made alot of them r fragile and complicated, exception could be made for Epyon cuz tat transformation is basically yoga style thus its rigidity is not compromise by much.

i'll recommend zaku 2.0 (there is alot of version but just stick to basic j type), Strike (if u dun mind its dated design in comparison to the new GAT series) and RX-78 2.0

it got ntg to do with your sweaty palms, all knife & cutter will rust as they r not stainless steel smile.gif
u can prevent this by applying a layer of oil or WD40 after usage everyday icon_idea.gif

well those hobby cutters are not stainless steel. stick with multi tools or swiss army knives. those serves me better.
