Neat, pretty sure you could pull off a nice one if you put your soul into it.
As for your questions to be honest I am as inexperienced as you.
Though I think the most important thing to do is to build a strong portfolio and start exposing yourself on the art community (CGsociety, ImagineFX, devientArt etc)

Haven't been active in this thread as of lately, here is something that I just uploaded minutes ago:

i thought google sketchup is creating some basic shapes only

you construct the tank or import the tank XD

i like the thread.  tongue.gif

Import.
I can't into 3D rclxub.gif

As for the thread, yes it was painstakingly hard to color each and everyone of those.
I imagine if were to build this from scratch, would be awesome but don't think I would invest that much time doing so.

An hour+ study using a sculpture image.

user posted image

Trying to experiment with different kind of brushes in Sai.
One of the regret I have is that I didn't properly construct the structure early on and it didn't turn out the way I want it to be later on.
Welp, lesson learned.

its rather well done, some wrinkles are apparent while others made it seems like the old man is melting, a little bit of exaggeration on the neck.

I like the shading considering it was done in an hour.

btw, what is a sculpture image?
*
Spot on, I was experimenting with a different brushes and I still trying to figure out its proper usage.

The sculpture is "The Art Critic" by Philippe Faraut.

...now that I look at it again my construction is clearly still a mess... rclxub.gif
Welp, gotta practice more.

Well, a good artist doesn't always make a good businessmen, you're looking at the wrong person here when it comes to that. sweat.gif
The best way I know is to expose yourself and get involved with the online community...and that's pretty much it for me.

Stiff and unnatural...which is actually a common problem when you're trying so hard to get it right, but at the same time you didn't fully grasped the anatomy.
This is the same problem I have, and I have been advised of a good way to fix it is to practice sketching the form and flow of various poses.

Finally something personal to post in here~ XP

wow amazing notworthy.gif

may i know how did you make the shading seems like canvas-like texture please.

noob here
*
It is as easy as grabbing a stock canvas texture, and set it above the artwork as an Overlay layer.
Here is something new, more of the same as before...though I think I kinda went overboard with the texture.

Grayscale coloring? Sai just doesn't have that many layer options such as Color layer for me to pull it off, and I just don't have the patient to went through such process.
Kudos to you for pulling it off nicely for a first time!

Artwork for this week, again, more of the same like before.

Well, my table happens to have a rolling pad.
Resizing the brush is as simple as turning it back and forth. It is fast and smooth.

Not quite new, but it is something that I can upload today:
