if you are looking cheap stuff in sabah or sarawak... you need compare the price of

A) postage to SAbah + cheap price KL
B) expensive price in Sabah

see which one is cheaper XD
*
Yup that's common sense but I can't even find those item here.
The pen/nib holders are relatively quite cheap, around rm 3-5 each.
The nibs are more expensive tho..

If I can find these in my place I'd be glad to buy bundles of 'em. rclxms.gif

looks fine, perhaps the blend between the stairs' edge with the color of the grass looks off.

Recently I got hold of an item I've been looking for so long;
a traditional nib pen.

So I've been practicing inking with this manga pen, and it's HARD to use! mad.gif
I need to practice more. sad.gif cry.gif

Here's some quicky sample I cranked out just now;

wow nice!!

used to draw with quite a pressure with a pencil.. i know drawing with a dip pen is gonna require some control, but never knew it's THAT hard!

to ink something from say, 0.05/0.1mm to 0.3mm lines, i practically apply no pressure on the pen, and just nonchalantly glide it across the paper..

the problem with this for me, i haz very little control of the pen this way, it's so easy to slip and make mistakes..

only now do i understand why great production houses
has separate great talent for pencilers and inkers..

gotta train more now..

put your left hand on the keyboard.

B - brush
E - eraser
[ ] - scale brush size
space - drag around

most ppl usually go for the medium size, if just put on table.
if you want to carry it around, then the small size will work.

- edit -
on top of that, you might want to check if it come with extra pen nib.

Holy cow good tips.
Thx!
Yea it does come with 3 xtra nibs.

Anyway, apart of the gazillion guides on the web, are there any good books U'd recommend for beginner digital arts?

DragonReine

Nice books!
Itll really help me, I really need a good foundation in color theory, plane lightings and whatnot.
And digital painting skills, color blending and stuff.

Thanks!

I've 'acquired' the Digital Painting with PS CS3 sometime ago... but haven't put it to full use..

Only played with the blending technique.
I just can't bring the ilustration to life.
It looked flat because of my lack of understanding in lighting and colors.

Can't wait for the tablet..it's my first ever..

I got my Wacom Tablet ady.
Played with it awhile, so I can get used to it.

Many said that Small Tablet wont work well with larger monitors @ 21-23" 1920x1080, its true, feels jumpy & overly sensitive.

Found a quick work around, I changed my resolution to 1600x900, now its comfy and feels natural to work on my 23" display. smile.gif

My 1st attempt..

Theres this beginner guide on dA, followed it halfway through, couldnt do the rest (lack of technical skills - Photoshop).

So I kinda do it my way, cheated a bit, instead if adding noise manually, I used PS filter effect. (dunno how customize brushes yet)

Obviously more touch up & refining to do, highlights & stuff, but with my current ability, fundamentals know how & technical skills, theres still a long way to go.

Holy cow this is hard.
I suck at this.

Was trying to mimic color blending.. like most comic illustration.

Art resource by the great Artgerm.
Used it to practice painting digitally.

ARGHH!
More practice..

What software did you use?
*
Photoshop CS4.

'Got' Corel Painter 12, I've no idea how to use it & I'm only starting to teach myself with that...
I'll make the transition much later since its got tonnes of painting-specific tools and even better blenders.

I'll stick to CS4 for now till I'm decent at it.
