QUOTE(ThousandMango @ Dec 9 2012, 07:44 PM) Thanks dudeQUOTE(Sai91 @ Dec 10 2012, 01:36 AM) how u color so fast.. = = I use 3d gor the bus stop perpective, and render some of the shadow in 3d. So , it actually save me quite alot of timeme is like take foreverrr.. QUOTE(Agito666 @ Dec 10 2012, 03:42 PM) IMHO la, i personally feel really bad to say this... you think character do more detail a bit or maybe make the outline less bold a bit will be better? Dont worry dude. U are not the only person that tell me about this. I have some ideas in my mind on how to blend them betterbecause my brain keep telling me this is 2 different things maybe tone also, background is really really nice but character macam little simplified Maybe thinner stroke with different color, and have to look into the ambient light/color correction area QUOTE(inachi @ Dec 10 2012, 05:45 PM) agree with agito..i also feel character and environment is slightly seperated. doesnt blend well together. Thanks for the input. |

QUOTE(Sai91 @ Dec 12 2012, 02:19 PM) clean as in?I think the aim is to make it look less like 3d render, and more painterly. I didnt spend much time on the 3d material/texture. just put a normal sun light, render/output it with shadow. This help me reduce the time to plan and draw all the perspective thing. coloring, and deciding where are the hightlight and shadow part. Anyway I still need to paint ontop of them to make it painterly. But I believe if I spend enough time doing all the settings and textures for 3d, then I wont even need to touch up the render at all. btw, it isnt really a new idea/method of doing 2d art using 3d guidance, alot of peoples did this ways also. |

QUOTE(inachi @ Dec 12 2012, 04:54 PM) exactly..do you know chong fei giap? he's an illustration lecturer in my college..he also using this method as well.. yea, i know him and saw his work before, how can peoples dont know him when he is so popular he has awesome portfolio! https://www.facebook.com/media/set/?set=a.1...13294557&type=3 In the anime/manga industry, a lot of company are using 3d/photo as a guidance to speed up their work flow. The key person I research on is Makoto Shinkai, and I look briefly on "time of eve" anime. Well anyway, I am just a programmer trying to do my own anime. although there are still lots of place for improvement in my stuff, but I am happy with my progress so far. |

it is an option.
We can choose to do everything manually and be a real master that can do everything from scratch. or we can choose the path where we just want to express the idea, timeline, speed is always priority. anyway, i believe a real pro who have master painting and drawing skills can do better than me and even faster than me. But I am not a pro, that why 3D help me a lot. |

QUOTE(Sai91 @ Dec 15 2012, 07:29 PM) doesnt blog about this D:But I have some earlier blog post about my other artwork http://www.mclelun.com/blog/2012/12/anime-...round-tutorial/ http://www.mclelun.com/blog/2012/10/makoto...nting-tutorial/ There is a few quick and easy way to make your painting nicer. look into the sun light/glare/fog thing which use the soft round brush and screen/add blending more. it add the "depth" into your artwork easilly. - edit - the grundge /dirty/weathered wall. I just use a photo I took (dirty wall) paste in photoshop, change layer to "multiply", then edit it more with brush. This post has been edited by mclelun: Dec 15 2012, 09:07 PM |

good matte painting is harder than what you think. Have to match all the level, darkness brightness , color etc.
Perhaps just keep on drawing and enjoy yourself. |

QUOTE(FireFryXx @ May 28 2013, 03:05 PM) What do you do if you don't have the mood to start drawing?? I'm having it now....oh my God... dont draw? I'm suffering *cries* it is very simple. dont force yourself to draw. you should enjoy the drawing process, not the other way round. ![]() Paint over 3D This post has been edited by mclelun: May 29 2013, 12:21 PM |
