Hi. Can i know if there are any dota 2 users who are using Dell 15R SE with i7-3612 and Radeon HD 7730 ? How is the performance with it ? I am planning to get a new laptop and i think my most demanding requirement is Dota 2.

Can any users share share their experience with their laptops ? .I tried searching in the forum but only showed me the dota recommended requirements. I prefer asking opinions from real users

I'm using an i3 with GT330M and 4GB RAM. Playing on maximum settings with >50fps.

My current laptop is a x2 turion RM-72, with HD3200 . Its max settings with high fps of 50. But it screen will freeze for 1-3 seconds during war. This defeats the purpose of playing dota because that few seconds is the most important time.... So i dont want that happen to my new lappie >< But i haf a feeling that won't happen ? haha

Btw, what laptop are you using ?

GT330M>GT520M?

mine is i5 2.4ghz GT520M 8GB Ram, and the framerate is 25-40 at maximum settings

sure can max 1 using 15R SE..Dota 2 requirement not that high 1....7730 is almost equivalent to GT 640M...it will run smooth even if u get the FHD model with max setting...at least it does for me with GTX660M...

may i asked how do you check fps in dota2?

Dota 2 is not really graphic demanding
The Inspiron 15R SE would be more than enough for that game

But the main point we need to explain why TS's current laptop with x2 turion RM-72, with HD3200 can't handle well lo...

AMD HD3200M is pretty weak no?
Its only around Intel GMA level

It's comparable to the HD6250 so not as bad. Still better than the GMA 4500MHD.

actually my bro is playing dota on a 4 year old pc without any dedicated graphic card... it looks quite bad n run in low frame rate but it still playable..

For me i think should be AMD processor heat issue, mine when play dota, screen will freeze. The top left of the keyboard hot till can fried egg...

The Turion X2 is a dual core AMD CPU series, it's one of the earlier generations of AMD multicore CPUs in the market and always had a heat issue hence why nowadays people tend to label AMD's chips are hot and unreliable.

Swt why is the topic moved. I want to know the laptop expereince of dota2 users. Now its becoming a debate between graphics card and CPU .

The turion x2 is a very old CPU not worth mentioning.

Since Dota 2 is a real-time strategy game, the CPU would matter quite a bit isn't it?

Running everything at max at 768p, with 6770M and i7-2630qm.
But there was once I turned off turbo boost, and there seems to be stutters when there's a huge team fight.

Extremely smooth with Boost on though. I shall test it with Boost off for a couple more times. Might have been a connection issue.

DotA 2 doesn't really rely as much on the CPU than the GPU because it's not a full fledged RTS. Having a high base speed is better in this case but you don't need so many cores.

Since HD7730M is slightly faster than HD6770M, u make ur judgement base on that no?

Btw, u planning to play Dota 2 with Max out setting@1080 resolution? HD7730M won't be able to deliver 60fps imo.

if i'm not mistaken latest generation, amd has improved their proc... no heat issue right?

AMD Turion X2 + aluminium chasis = mobile frying pan.

Their current chips run really cool! Sure they may not be as powerful as their Intel counterparts but comparatively as mobile solutions, very decent in their own right.

Taktaulol, your GC should outperform mine any day of the week. Framerate does drop after a couple of games, but I always attributed that to the GC heating up.

mudkipryan. Whats the FPS whilst playing dota2. Any sudden drops from lets say 50 to 30 during team fights ? Even if its just a minor 0.5 seconds. Does that happen ?

i had the hp dv3z till it die on me recently (cpu kaput based on the LED error code). Dota 2 is playable on turion x2 + hd3200 provided you turn down ALL settings and put your render quality to low. It looks horrible imo much worse than regular dota...

side note, the hd7670m can max this game out at 1366 x768 no problems.
max temps is 80 without cooler. not bad... not great either.

max out with no problem and max out with 60fps while having a huge team fight is 2 different things.

So which one better between these 2 graphic card to play dota 2, Nvidia GT630M or AMD HD7670M

From notebookcheck the 7670m is slighly faster but realistically they are pretty close.
I am using the 7670m and the lowest fps in dota 2 is around 30 when team battle but it usually averages around 60 ( all settings on high).
If you have games that utilizes Physx or ur an nvidia fan then get the gt630m..

My 3 years old Dell Studio 1555 can run Dota 2 at full setting just fine, the graphic is so low end that I think any 5 years old computers can run it just fine.

what's ur ram? bcoz nowadays most laptop hav at least 4gb d....ppl tend to ignore about the ram d...but 2gb should more than enuf for the game...dota 2 can b played on the 4 years old pc without dedicated gc n 1gb but the framerate n graphic is quite bad

that's odd.. maybe driver not optimized for dota 2 yet because my overclocked 6770M get 40-ish average on Dota 2@1080 max too.




if you want to compare 3DMark11 scores, my oc'ed gpu only equivalent to gt640m.

Got it to work. I get around 3k on 3dmark11 after oc.
Fps for dota2 is about 40 average. Maybe it's the driver.

Everything max ingame. Didn't touch anything on Catalyst Control Panel though.

Go optiont and select full screen? Or edit the config file yourself.

and change "setting.fullscreen" "1" instead of "0"

i doubt he meant max setting....and maybe his "smoothly" is not 60 fps...mayb just playable...

for Dota 2, 45fps is barely playable for me.. even at 50fps you will notice the "unsmoothness".

im playing on max setting 60 FPS. i think you are correct. you need to wait for a dell user with that specific model.. ) but i believe it should suffice. should be able to play it on max setting.

Spec 1 but you need to overclock that A6 because Dota 2 is quite CPU intensive.

Try to get 3rd Gen Core i5 with GT630M/HD7670M or GT640M.

Even with that less powerful A6 APU the HD7670M is better than GT610M by quite a margin.

You can say GT630M pretty much equal to HD7670M. GT620M is slightly slower but much better compare to GT610M.

HD 7660G + 7670M in the other hand.. can perform as good as GT650M DDR3 IF the condition is right.
