erm hi guys. relatively new to lego and its lingo. what is ALJ price? thanks for answering. smile.gif
*
ALJ is the evil distributor responsible for notoriously high Lego prices in Malaysia. Basically, Lego prices in stores here are jacked up above and beyond what many Lego fans feel they should pay for sets. Sets in Singapore are much cheaper in Malaysia, for example.

Because they're the sole distributor, they pretty much have a complete monopoly and can dictate the prices they set without much fear of competition from anyone else.

time to buy a few new ninjago figs
my Kai hand already loose from all the battling

I think more like it will filled in the licensed void for Pirates of the Caribbean. Next year looks to be heavy on LotR, Marvel and DC, so my guess is that they'll replace Pirates for a movie tie in license.

I doubt that Ninjago will go anywhere since it's been one of the most successful themes that Lego has produced ever. I would LOVE to see them take Ninjago to space and battle some aliens.

Don't know if this question has been asked here, but is "The Big Shop" in Legoland? Meaning to say we need to purchase a legoland ticket in order to buy lego in "The Big Shop"?

Edit:-
Additionally, any info on the tax (if any) if i buy lego from UK or US and ship in to Malaysia?
*
On Legoland, yes you'll need a ticket to get into The Big Shop, although to be frank there's nothing much there that you can't get elsewhere since the prices are the same. I wrote about the shop in depth on my blog if you want more info.

On tax, you might run into problems with customs if your order is worth more than RM500. Also, stuff gets 'lost' pretty often if you use regular mail.

i dunno wat is the deal between TLG and ALJ
but as a distributor, u need to sell certain target/take certain volume. price wise, the adjustment will be based on market.
of course, develop country have currency advantage, and may have much higer volume hence cheaper price.
it seem tht so far local distro is surviving cos if the sales was very bad the distro will have to change or they need to push the good out to customer.
so i guess AFOL market is too small here to influence the volume (which seems to be selling reasonably) hence at the moment i dun expect much movement or promo from distro.
*
You're right that the AFOL market is too small. And AFOLs aren't the main buyers of LEGO, it's still primarily parents because, duh LEGO is a toy. Unfortunately, most parents I know have absolutely no clue about other alternative avenues to buy sets, so they buy them at TRU anyway and just complain that the prices are expensive.

So yeah, business is booming for ALJ, so they have no real incentive to drop prices or even offer us sales (outside of the end year Bangsar Village one)

The only identifiable minifig in the battle pack is Scrum, the guy with the triangle pirate hat who was a minor character in the movies. The rest are pretty generic zombies and an officer.

i think can mod

melei guy:
purple torso and legs
then the skirt is plain but u put checks to make it look like kain samping
songkok maybe can use the butcher from CMF and mod the colour

melei girl:
no idea will probably have to detail mod on torso and leg is the female brick.

anyone here mod their minifigs before?
*
You could probably use the accessories from Prince of Persia for a Malay lady for for songkok, you can use the Indiana Jones hat thing.

It's fine if they fix it promptly and professionally. Can't be too naive to think that things won't break down or malfunction. I'd take Stomp with a pinch of salt though... it's SG's online equivalent to Harian Metro or Kosmo... but contributed by average citizens.

Well that's one of the perks of working next to a mall, heh. I went to Toys R Us, since I had some vouchers to use from Star Card smile.gif

Am thinking of getting the Zombie set next, heh.
