if you like bass, you will like a-jays series. you can buy a-jays 3 at rm259 in parkson in pavillion (and audition) but i would top up more to get shure se215 (rm388) instead. i was exactly in your position and i chose se215 instead of jays because se215's bass does not cover the other sound and the bass is impactful and tighter than jays. jays' bass is very loud but muddy. but jays is certainly an upgrade from the stock earphones. laugh.gif

i noticed ur in penang, maybe you can pay a visit to jaben penang? they have audition for various earphones and headphones and they always have bundles to grab smile.gif you can also visit their website and check out the price and then head to head-fi.org for reviews and stuffs cool.gif

until now 3 button doesn't work with android unless you mod it which would cancel its warranty. i would say jays one+, it is bass heavy and is compatible with android (one+, not one)

but better just save the money and buy klipsch s4a (s4i for iphone, s4a for android) costing rm430.

if you are in uk now, you can get akg k450 with ha450 XD

My Rig: Galaxy S3/ iPod Touch
- Type of usage: Music
- File format: MP3
- Music genre: Rock, Punk-Rock,
- Budget: Really hope to not spend much, maybe around RM90, but do recommend me something reasonable outside the price.
- Headphone/ earphone type: Earphone, as long as can firmly stay while running.
- Other requirements (if any): Need to use for Running, so I need something water resistant & doesn't fall off easily

you can consider sony active series.

MDR-AS41EX/B is sold at rm119
MDR-AS20J is sold at rm79

or you can buy philips sports series as well. you cant expect hi-fi within this price range.

itching for upgrade..any recommendation?

was hoping for a rather huge upgrade.. shure se215?
please refrain from those branded overprice gear like beats.. cap ayam but great in performance i will get it!

want a good in-ear type  icon_question.gif

listening to: "slow" song like country, folk, soft rock; ladygaga-type proof, no hard rock; rap, i pay much attention in the lyric of the songs.
*
i had been using shure se215 for 9 months until i changed to denon ahnc600. se215 is good for all kind of music, warm and fun, bass is tight but it is not awesome when comes to female voice. when compared to my denon, there is so much less details when listening to shure. maybe it is because of its low frequence range? unsure.gif

maybe you can give a try for sony xba-1 since it uses balanced armature rather than dynamic (se215).. it should have better clarity. i myself nvr try it before.

Recently just brought a Lenovo Gaming Headset for RM100...
The audio quality was good but the microphone is piece of crap...
While using skype...The people cant even listen what i talk to even i put the microphone near my mouse..
Is there any headphone with clear and nice microphone attached together?
Please advice me... sad.gif
*
if you can spare rm300 you can buy the infamous steelseries siberia v2

me myself owned the siberia v2 and cmstorm sirus 5.1 both microphones are very clear but sirus needs you to speak louder because its noice cancellation is too good (cancelling all background noise)

i prefer steelseries more because it is more comfortable and way more lighter than sirus. of course, sirus 5.1 is perfect for fps games but siberia v2 serves the purpose as well. although siberia v2 is only stereo headset, but you can listen to directions of footsteps as well, including front and back.

for budget options, try turtle beach ear force z2 for rm199. the video below shows how stereo works with surround sound.

happy gaming.

thanks for the recommendation, they have really good review but kinda over my budget.. any excellent between RM350.00 ++?

eyeing for se215 or Klipsch X10..please advice, thanks! smile.gif

any place around lowyat plaza can test those earphones or buy there?
*
i bought mine in tong lee, ground floor. it is located beside the home theatre system shop (walk up the stairs, got chinese restaurant etc). you can audition there, they will gladly help you but only limited models (obviously not the expensive ones like se535 lol)

but if you have transport, proceed to jaben near sunway. they have models and professionals to advice you. in addition, you get 2 years warranty instead of 1.

well, just top up abit more to get the se215 then. you can only get jays below that budget and those are bass heavy earphone but still is a decent upgrade from stock. or you can buy some sennheisers but i never like low-end sennheiser because i find the sound is flat and boring, but they are clear for vocal.

my recommendations:
shure se215
final audio design adagio 3
jays a-jay 3
sony xba-1

hopefully something can impress me..then I wont care the money anymore..

Hi! I need a quick suggestion for a portable setup using at public areas or walking areas.
Preferably ear-on headphones. Budget less than RM500.
What I have in mind, Audio Technica ES-55 and the AKG K451.
Any other or better suggestions?~
*
well i didnt try audition the k451 but i auditioned the k450 and es55, both are decent headphone and very comfortable but i dont like the coloured vocal on the es55 compared to k450. but es55 certainly looks better imo. i bought the k450 and i absolutely love it, it is light, has good amount of bass and very clear mid and high for the price.

Apologies, I put up the early post in a rush. Here's my requirement.

Rig: Nexus 7. Using it as my portable pc at public areas such as schools or library
Usage: Watching videos while browsing the internet, listening to my music while reading e-books, occasional movies but NO gaming.
File of music: mp3 320 and FLAC.
Genre: mixtures of Electronica, Trance, Melodic, House and Jazz music
Headphone type: I'd love models like the ES-55 or AKG k450/k451, the ear-on is pretty convenient to have. Unlike earpiece where I always have to be careful while inserting it or plugging it out.
Other requirement: a mic would be nice for Skype!

Thank you so much in advance!
Yeah, the K451 seems to be the newer model hence the unavailability for now. I think I misunderstood thinking the k451 was an improvement of the k450. They should be different models which I will definitely try out before throwing my cash. I don't care looks actually. Just want the best bang for my buck atm. Thanks for your reply!
*
ur reason to purchase on-ear is same as mine, having on-ear is so much more convenient. i agree with e1-akg, only k450+ha450 fits your needs and your phone. you will like k450, the bass is tight for your kind of music as i listen to trance as well.

My rig: Pc
Usage: Music, Movie, Skype and Game
Budget: RM300-400
File format used: mp3
Genre: Different variety
Headphone type: Noise isolation headphones
Others: Comfort, good quality and come with a mic.

if you dont need audiophile quality headphone, i recommend you to buy asus vulcan anc. i owned one before so i can tell you its active noice cancelling really works. i sit in front of the tv with mid volume, before i turned it on i can still hear the sound but after turn on, i cant hear anything even though im not playing any sound from my pc. it is also a great gaming headphone with precise positioning, i played bf3 with it so i know. watching movie and music of course cannot compare to audiophile headphones, but it still has decent amount of bass and good clarity on mid and high. of course, it also has a mic and it is very clear. i bought it at rm370 at c-zone, 2nd floor, lowyat plaza.

my rig: pc with asus xonar essence stx sound card
type of usage:gaming 40%, music 40%, video 20%
file format : all
genre : all
budget : 400 below
headphone tye : over the ear
addition info: I want the headphone to be comfortable cuz I play 6 hour non stop, and mic I dont really need( got also can).. sound isolation is not my main priority. I more concern bout quality and comfort.. the headphone must be stereo and not usb connection.. surround sound is not my choice, stereo better. curently I leaning toward asus vulcan anc but it's too expensive and its not a audiophile type headphone.. any recommendation would be helpful ty.

edit - and 1 more thing to notice... the headphone you recommended can be bought at LYN..
*
i own asus vulcan anc (rm370), steelseries siberia v2 (rm300 bought in uk) and cmstorm sirus 7.1 (rm380) for gaming headsets and shure se215 (rm388), akg k450 (rm205 bought in uk) and denon ahnc600 (rm250 bought in uk) for more audiophile quality. it is common that gaming headsets have flat sound because you need to focus on your in game surroundings rather than game sound quality. but if you are not serious about gaming or you do not play first person shooter then you dont need a gaming headset. using a gaming headset to watch movie or listen to music is boring, so when i do that i will switch to better headphone for better sounds. however, i find using a audiophile headphone to play games make my ears get tired easily, maybe too much bass in gun sound? hmm.gif or maybe just my ears got problems. cool.gif

nice comment.. very many info.. so is there any good headphone recommendation that will work well in gaming and music( no need to be a gaming headset).. 1 more, how bout the sound quality in music in asus vulcan pro when anc is turn off ( if you dont mind gv me a rating range 0-10) and gimme the rating for siberia v2 too smile.gif.. I dont play too much of fps game( I still play some) so gaming headphone is not require I think.. any suggestions on audiophile headphone(since audiophile headphone work great in gaming too)?

sorry for the demand because I really dont know what headphone should I buy and I cant find any semi gaming semi audiophile headphone.. and if I din use a good headphone, it will be a waste if I have such a good sound card..
*
mm i dont use vulcan pro, i use vulcan anc which was the first version, i would giv it a 7/10 when anc is turned off and 5.5/10 when anc is turned on because the bass is completely gone when the anc is turned on while you can hear absolutely nothing around you (maybe can hear bomb explodes but i nvr try that before). i would give siberia v2 a 6.5/10 because of its flat sound (little bass compared to vulcan with anc turned off). dont need to worry about clarity of gaming headsets as they are all very clear at mid and high but you cant expect the high to be crisp like audiophile headphone because of its flat sound.

i agree with e1-akg because my friend living beside my room in uk now owns akg k99 and q350. so i had the chance to audition k99 as much as i want. for me i dont like the how the k99 sounds because i prefer smaller soundstage when listening to music. but i think it will be a good choice for you because it is very very nice if you listen to live concert, the soundstage as i said it is very wide and you will like you are sitting in the concert listening the music. the headphone is very clear as well but the bass is lacking for me since i like trance music more compared to vocal. but since its soundstage is wide it will be good on gaming and watching videos.

Hi, thank you for your input. I've just came back from Jaben testing the best portable on-ear headphones I could afford: the ATH-ES-55, k450, and the ATH-ES7. I was really disappointed with the sound of k450 actually. Can't really explain why, I'm not very good with the sound description terms (Sorry~). I actually liked both the Audio Technica's models. So now, I'm juggling between the two now. Hope you find this info useful and get what you are looking for. Best of luck!
*
i know why you like you like es7, it is the vocal, isn't it? but for me it is not natural and tuned but it was certainly very amazing especially listening to female voice. well every ear is different. best of luck choosing the headphone that suits you smile.gif

- iPod Classic >FiiO L9> looking for a headphone portable amplifier as well, currently considering the upcoming FiiO E12 or E17
- Strictly music
- Any format will do as long as they are not Justin Bieber songs
- Everything except Metal songs and Justin Bieber songs
- Over-ear
- I do not want any colouration, I want songs to be played as much neutral as possible
- Around Rm2000/400GBP as I am in UK now

There are too many headphones out there for me to choose within this price range. I am currently eyeing on AKG Q701 & K701/2, Sennheiser HD600/650, Beyerdynamic T70 & DT990, HiFiMAN HE-400 and many others

or you can just recommend me the source (i didnt buy ipod yet), the dac/amp and the headphone combination around rm3000

bro, im in newcastle, not london, there is only a shop in newcastle which sells audio products which is richersounds but they have limited products here, unlike Jaben. so i only can order them online. i am not a kid, i wish i could decide depending on my ears as well.

HI situs,

I'm new to audiophile gear, i need some advise.

i just bought UE TF10, second hand, my first gear to try on. the sound is crisp, very good soundstage. worth the money...but..

the sound profile is not ultimately what i'm looking for.. for me its a bit "flat" sound overall, eventho everything is well balanced.

i want some more "punch", maybe a bit more bass, but not too much.. i listen to metal and rock the most, and also instrumental guitar and piano.

can recommend other IEM for me?

any advise will be very much appreciated. thanks in advance.

weak bass? its bass is overwheming lol.. you can audition them in jaben. bring somemore money, you will find one that suits you definitely. but it me i will recommend se215 but it is rm388.. it suits you more because it fits your ear better when you are doing exercise and it has tight bass.
