- iPod Classic >FiiO L9> looking for a headphone portable amplifier as well, currently considering the upcoming FiiO E12 or E17
- Strictly music
- Any format will do as long as they are not Justin Bieber songs
- Everything except Metal songs and Justin Bieber songs
- Over-ear
- I do not want any colouration, I want songs to be played as much neutral as possible
- Around Rm2000/400GBP as I am in UK now

There are too many headphones out there for me to choose within this price range. I am currently eyeing on AKG Q701 & K701/2, Sennheiser HD600/650, Beyerdynamic T70 & DT990, HiFiMAN HE-400 and many others

or you can just recommend me the source (i didnt buy ipod yet), the dac/amp and the headphone combination around rm3000

How much Bose AE2 price in Malaysia? I would like to compare the price here in Egypt which cost only RM 350 NEW!!
*
it is GBP119 = RM600 in UK, even -VAT it still costs rm500, but sometimes there's ridiculous offer like i grabbed my brand new akg k450 at rm200 here.

but beware of fakes, one of our member bought one back in malaysia but this means fakes existed and can be everywhere.http://forum.lowyat.net/topic/2198931/all

so, do some research on the fake product before you buy the product in egypt.

Nope. I don't think it's fake. I just went to the Bose main distro here. http://global.bose.com/countries/egypt.html and also to the Virgin Megastore. The price exactly the same.

it is a good buy then drool.gif

T70.... very treble happy. Detail wise obamanotbad.jpg. Really excels with quality recordings. Try it before decide. I happy. but now want sell half price liao. Or go T90 maybe? The open can.

HD650 warm n bassy. HD600 much less warm, a tad more neutral than HD650.

The rest i never listened before so i try not to comment.

U can try... AKG K550? Or maybe Grado PS500?
*
i cant try them here so i can only depend on you guys' opinion and buy it online. i dont trust those reviews on the website because most of them are endorsed so opinions might be biased.

If you are looking for portable setup I do not think all of these over-ear are portable.

A close-back is more suitable to use outdoor as sound leak is minimal. whistling.gif
*
i already have akg k450, shure se215 and denon ahnc600 for my portable setup. i just want an open back headphone now. cool.gif

TBH, i'm more of a rock person. Until lately starting to listen to slower songs like jazz. just so u know what my flavors will be.

And also, open back meaning you wanna build a full desktop setup?
*
yep but im currently in university, i will only go back to malaysia next year. so now i will just use ipod+amp as my source. besides, that is much cooler than people who wear beats on the street. drool.gif

err... bro, i lost u. so u r looking for a home setup or on-the-go? Because open back ones are less ideal for outside use. i think u know right? Haha.
*
both home use and portable, but of course i won't use them on a bus or in the library because that would disturb people. and also, i dont see any fault of using open back cans in the public but everyone should use them instead of iem and close back cans because of safety reasons. there were already several times that i almost got hit by a car when i was crossing the road. icon_rolleyes.gif

btw, there were already 47 people who was involved in accidents in 2010-2011 and 70% of them died because they were using headphones. http://www.livescience.com/17995-accidents...nfographic.html

if use volume booster so be distort

1. get an amplifier (budget 200+)
2. strap 2 speakers on your head with tapes, one beside each ear and turn the volume to the max (budget rm10 for cheap speakers + rm5 for tapes)

my friend bought monster ncredible nergy earphones last month. i tested it but i dont quite like it because the lack of bass, but the clarity is awesome. so you might want to test it or do more readings before purchase. my friend bought it at 50gbp which is approx. rm250. and yes you can hang it around your neck, very convenient. but please note that there is no case provided because monster thinks that you will not need to store them, just hand around your neck when you are not using it laugh.gif

- Hi im looking GAMING HEADPHONE thanks  tongue.gif
- Your rig (laptop with no 5.1 surround card)
- What type of usage (1st movies(bass), 2nd gaming, 3rd music)
- Other requirements ( mic and 5.1 true surround sound) ( 5.1 optional if sound really good)
- Budget below rm 500 or i can go up to 700-800 if it is really really good  rclxms.gif
on the shortlist

1) cm sirus 5.1 true surround sound
2) sennheiser U 320
3) logitech g35
4) tiamat 2.2 because i dont have plugins for the 7.1
5) steelseries siberia v2
*
i have sirus and siberia and i prefer siberia because its sound quality is good and its weight is light. sirus has true surround sound and huge bass but it is very heavy. i cant wear it for 1 hour straight

If this is original one and just RM500, buy it straight away, super comfortable and midrange centric sound, I would say the sound is quite good and definitely worth RM500, Retail is RM900-1000. Mind to pm me where you get for RM500?
*
well it's no secret, i got them on ebay in uk as im studying here. im aware of fakes on ebay btw so i am going to meet the seller directly tomorrow to deal instead of via ebay since we are in the same city smile.gif

Edited: oh, it should be original because it's a free item when he purchased the xperia z smile.gif uk had an offer to provide free mdr-1r as a gift when you purchase that phone. now i know why there are alot of cheap mdr-1r on ebay smile.gif

whats the different between gaming headset and music headset
*
siberia v2 is a solid choice for you if you major purpose is for gaming because siberia is designed to have wide soundstage to hear the environment in fps games and flat eq so that you have clarity (but it also means neutral and can be boring when listening to music). bass is still there, but it not overwhelming (still can hear footsteps clearly during a gunfight). but in general, siberia v2 is still better than those rm100-200 headphones outside there like the cheap sonic gears or any computer headphone brands and low-end sennheisers, sonys etc. for music listening and movie sound effect.

siberia is also very comfortable and light, i can last 2-3hours wearing them without any issues.

if you dont mind the weight, you can try cmstorm sirus 5.1 with the usb dial, the sound is awesome for everything and you can tune the treble and bass accordingly. but the thing is it is superheavy and not portable because you need either a 5.1sound card or a usb to use it, no 3.5mm jack.

you can also try asus vulcan anc if you want to concentrate on your gaming, you cant hear anything else when you turn the anc on but with the bass tuned down unfortunately.

well, these are the 3 gaming headsets that i own now

sound quality: sirus>siberia=vulcan anc (anc off)>vulcan anc (anc on)
comfort: vulcan anc (comfy synthetic leather)>siberia (lightweight but loses to vulcan because of round earcup)>cmstorm (heavy)
microphone: siberia=vulcan>sirus (need to talk louder for the mic to pick up, but it is also very cleaar because it cancels all the background noise since it is not sensitive)

now, gaming headset vs music headset

gaming headsets are set to have flat eq and the purpose was explained above. normal music headset dont have a flat eq to make the music to be enjoyable. (there are neutral music headset too, but they are not considered to be music headphone anyway, because you dont listen to the music with them, you analyse biggrin.gif )

for example, i cant use my shure se215 for fps games, the sound is too forward and the soundstage is small, i cant hear which direction my enemy is coming from and the gun sounds are often too overwhelming and cover other sounds (footsteps, radio chat (skype etc.)) but when i use it for music then it gets punchy and the vocal sounds like someone is singing in front of me, which is enjoyable.

hope i cleared your doubt cool.gif

I know this is suppoed to be a recommendation thread but there is no Koss Fans Club in LYN so I decided to post the question here.

Is Porta Pro available in red version and white version other than standard version. I saw them in HMV in the UK so I do not think they are fakes but it concerns me still. There are people saying they are fakes but some say these colours are only available in Europe.

Any Koss dealer can clear my doubt? Many thanks in advance.

Edited: They are available in Amazon (UK) as well.
