Lumia 720 managed to achieve very good balanced brightness + low noise, but lacks details. http://www.flickr.com/photos/84764600@N03/8992975837/ (NOT MINE)

920 can do the same but with much better detail right? Anyone took something similar before? Mind to share?

This shot wasn't a good example of detail level for this phone; I didn't have time to properly set it up lol.

Anyway here's a 100% crop unedited. You'll see that even when you look past the motion blur, details are not that good. It's a thing with night shots with this phone that I hope will be improved in the coming Amber firmware update.

Here's another 100% crop (cigarette tip) that I think is a bit better in showing the phone's details level (or lack thereof).

Oh, sorry. I think I may have removed the noise in PS. sweat.gif sweat.gif Or maybe not, forgot about it altogether. But usually there's only luminance noise present. Their noise-reduction algorithm just needs a few tweaks and looks like they did just that with Lumia 925.

As for brightness, there really is no limit for still and panoramic shots. On the contrary, you'll struggle to take long-exposure night shots without getting it overblown since the aperture is so big and there is no ND filter (which was the case in my lightning shot).

This is only with ISO 200 on 1-sec exposure, taken about an hour ago.

And this is with ISO 100, which is more similar to how it really looks.
http://sdrv.ms/15Uqx1v

I haven't used this phone extensively for portraits or street shots, but IIRC this is a shot I took when I first got the phone, so it's using the stock software. I was impressed, especially coming from.. Motorola L7 and Lumia 800.
http://sdrv.ms/14FXUpx

On paper, its larger aperture is probably better-suited for night shots compared with Lumia 920, but 920's OIS and probably-better optics quality should more than make up for it. Not to mention panoramic shots are a PITA to take with this phone because of its narrow DOF. biggrin.gif

Looks good, details still acceptable for me.

Lumia 800 in similar situation full of noise, details not any better either(got handshake though).
