QUOTE(IluvProton @ Aug 10 2012, 08:56 AM) I will personally see this AES only like last time the speed trap camera = 'hangat2 tahi ayam' This time they won't abandon it. Coz a third party company will install and maintaining it. And that company will have a cut for every summons. So the more summons AES can produce, the more money they can earn.later pulis will said cost high, we must abandon it. QUOTE(mr_boonez @ Aug 10 2012, 08:59 AM) i have a feeling it's going to be like South Korea highways. Speed limit 80km/h and have cameras (similar to AES) all over. But those Koreans are smart...drive fast like hell, but quickly slow down the car just before passing the camera. And their GPS maps have warning when getting near the camera.. Soon hopefully our GPS also can give each AES location.QUOTE(wegatech @ Aug 10 2012, 09:34 AM) Source: The Star (10th August 2012) Lower speed can reduced numbers of accidents? Then reduce till 50km/h, so there will be no more accidents at all. KUALA LUMPUR: No traffic summonses will be issued to road users under the new Automated Enforcement System (AES) during the Hari Raya holiday period, the Transport Ministry said. Its Minister Datuk Seri Kong Cho Ha said the Government had not set a date to fully implement the system as the cameras were still being tested and certified. “We'll announce later when the system will start and we'll ensure that there are enough signboards in the areas that are under camera surveillance. “We hope the system will be fully-operational by year-end,” he told a press conference after launching the national Hari Raya celebrations traffic awareness campaign at the Integrated South-Bandar Tasik Selatan Transport Terminal yesterday. It was reported that under the new system, 566 speed cameras and 265 traffic light cameras would be installed while 250 mobile cameras would be in use for places with inadequate infrastructure for setting up a camera. Kong said some of the cameras had already been put in place in some “blackspot areas” but were only on trial mode. On another matter, Kong said the national speed limit on federal and state roads would be reduced by 10kph during the Hari Raya period. “The speed limit will now be 80kph for federal roads while those travelling on state roads will not be allowed to go more than 70kph. It will take effect beginning Aug 12 until Aug 26. “The Road Transport Department will also impose restriction on heavy vehicles carrying goods from Aug 17 to 18 and on Aug 25 to 26,” said Kong. Meanwhile, several people interviewed were all for the lowered speed limit during the holiday period and gave the thumbs up for the AES system. Student Chye Hui, 20, said she welcomed the move to reduce the speed limit during the Hari Raya holiday period. “It is a good start to help reduce the risk and number of accidents. I hope the Government will also deploy more traffic police to reduce congestion during the period,” she said. Another student, Mohamed Shafiq Mustafa, 21, also lauded the move to lower the speed limit and also expressed hope that the AES system would be implemented soon. Deploy traffic police to reduce the congestion? Motorist when saw police they drive even slower, congestion will become worse. Seriously, what the country need is more education on safe driving, and education on common sense! |

QUOTE(dares @ Aug 10 2012, 08:35 PM) The govt departments decides whether or not to cancel the project, not that third party company (two companies, actually). In fact, technically these companies have no say in this other than using money to influence the decision-makers. you think the 3rd party is outsider? surely is their own crony. If someone higher up boh suang those suppliers (maybe he didnt get enough candy), he just have to KIV it and the suppliers will hailat. |

QUOTE(dares @ Aug 10 2012, 09:13 PM) most of the time yes, but not always. sometimes these companies just offer some irresistable in return to get the job. For more than 1000 AES, only crony would go for it.Even if it is a crony-run company, the company is still subjected to the whim of the person in charge. There are other cronies competing for the same contract. And if other crony competing and get the tender, the result still the same. QUOTE(IluvProton @ Aug 10 2012, 10:04 PM) Use slipper also can ar when open saman? |

QUOTE(JonSpark @ Sep 27 2012, 11:02 PM) Yup, after this we can see most cars going thru the traffic light at uncle driving speed. Good luck to all the people that have to endure jams at traffic light during the peak hours. (Including me) T_TQUOTE(epo @ Sep 28 2012, 12:59 PM) Politicians can decide what is right or wrong for school children??That is bad.. |

QUOTE(cute_boboi @ Sep 28 2012, 03:51 PM) That is not to catch you exceeding speed limit across traffic lights. ya, it's not to catch speeding, but they might play it safe but drive slower so that can stop on time when light turn yellow. It is to catch anyone who breaks the amber & red lights, 2 seconds rule. Not sure if it captures if any car stops in the yellow box, which according to undang-undang, you are not support to stop there. Otherwise, when light changes, you'll block other cars from different direction, and cause a chain effect of traffic jam. QUOTE(jimmy.soo @ Sep 28 2012, 04:01 PM) I hate when ppl so kiasu to actually stop on the yellowbox and act like nothing's wrong when others trying to exit/come out from an intersection! ya, people that can't stop before yellow box is really kiasu. the yellow box just 1 or 2 car distance size, yet they selfishly occupied the space and causes cars from other direction also stuck there. |

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Oct 11 2012, 10:48 AM) aes is quite canggih system, for sure there are sensors that will detect any problem happen to it. If not mistaken AES system is not really reliable. There are report of other countries that the system capture cars that are not over the speed limit.Added on October 11, 2012, 10:51 ambtw, would it be an irony if accidents happen when people trying to slow down in a sudden (avoiding the flash) and got hit from car behind them? Maybe the sensor detect 90km/h as 120km/h.. |
