totally in agreement here. but I guess, in more a quieter town, and after midnight, we should have flashing amber or timer.

On reason why things fails here, is that no is no enforcement and policing. If one breaks a rule on western countries, most of the time, you would see being pulled over.
*
I've been barking on this point for ages.

Try go and drive in Singapore. Once kena before, I'm sure the person will drive with super cautious and follow all the law. rolleyes.gif

Just as an example, same with Singaporeans, they drive like angels inside the island.
But once in Malaysia / PLUS highway, they either drive like turtle on fast lane, or speed lunatics and try to break all the available laws here.

QUOTE(tehoice @ Sep 27 2012, 11:52 AM)
nola, he is right, this is a common practice in Europe, in certain countries in Europe, the bus driver won't move if you have not gotten to your seat, and if the bus is full, all the aunties will look at you, so you know you have to get down and take the next bus. lol, funny experience...

in switzerland, whenever you are beside the road on the pedestrian zebra line there, all the cars will stop and let you pass. even if you dont have the intention to cross the road, they will also stop their car and let you thru...
we really should have learn all these....
*
This is true. On my very first visit to a scandinavian country, after check in, decide to walk over to the small mart to grab some food. I'm walking slowly and 10-15 ft away from zebra crossing (without traffic lights), a good 15 seconds walk away, and the car already stop for me. Really rclxub.gif as I stand and wait for the car to cross, but the driver wave to insist me to cross first. I really feel ... ulu. tongue.gif quickly run across, just in case they'll run me down, due to mentality trained in Malaysia. sweat.gif

Here in KL ? Traffic light already red. Metrobus zoom 9 9 and still slowly pull away to give pedestrian some black smoke. Otherwise cleanser products won't sell well in Guardian/Watsons. Kapchai just zoom past (one day I'll give a sweet kick and let them fall down). Some other kapchai decided to use the zebra crossing to cross to other side or do u-turn. doh.gif

QUOTE(cybermaster98 @ Sep 27 2012, 02:51 PM)
The first step to education needs to start from school. Kids need to be taught to obey rules & respect the law. They also need to be taught the importance of preserving the environment. This is an ongoing process and should be instilled from young.

Then a total revamp of JPJ needs to be undertaken starting from the issuance of licences and permits. Everything is corrupted. Even now, i know that lorry drivers with a typical D licence can purchase a E licence (above 7.5 tonnes) or a H licence (heavy machinery above 5 tonnes) for only about RM 800 without even showing up at JPJ. Many trucks are being refabricated using 'potong' parts and the schematics are being done by specially appointed 'JPJ draughtsmen' who then produce JPJ compliant drawings for documentation purposes only while the real truck is never inspected. Everything for a fee. These are the trucks on our roads today.

The cancer is really bad. Trust me.
*
Parents are doing it wrong. They allow their under-age kids to ride bike, as long as within nearby house
They allow their kids to ride, without license.
They allow their kids to ride, without helmet. Dekat je ... beli kicap.
Or, kalau pergi surau, nanti helmet kena potong/curi. doh.gif
Or, panas le. nanti rambut kusut, tak cool.

Yes, the cancer is very bad.

For AES @ traffic lights.  What if traffic lights are faulty.  Will camera continue to shoot? Wat about bikers. They are the biggest TL offenders.  Can they still get off without getting caught ?
*
I recall Jalan Ipoh, near the Sentul Link there, a lot of cars will go straight for that right-turn into Sentul.
Always see it flash many times.

Bikers, officially suppose to summon also. But I think as usual, due to our lack of enforcement, Malaysia Boleh, 1Malaysia, they'll get off the hook as usual. Why ?
- false plate (curi motor)
- broken plate with half alphabets/numbers left.
- angled up/down photo cannot see
- don't pay, no money to pay, come catch me icon_idea.gif

Yup, after this we can see most cars going thru the traffic light at uncle driving speed. Good luck to all the people that have to endure jams at traffic light during the peak hours. (Including me) T_T
*
That is not to catch you exceeding speed limit across traffic lights.
It is to catch anyone who breaks the amber & red lights, 2 seconds rule.

Not sure if it captures if any car stops in the yellow box, which according to undang-undang, you are not support to stop there. Otherwise, when light changes, you'll block other cars from different direction, and cause a chain effect of traffic jam.

QUOTE(xxboxx @ Sep 28 2012, 04:14 PM)
ya, it's not to catch speeding, but they might play it safe but drive slower so that can stop on time when light turn yellow.
ya, people that can't stop before yellow box is really kiasu. the yellow box just 1 or 2 car distance size, yet they selfishly occupied the space and causes cars from other direction also stuck there.
*
Some traffic lights are programmed reasonably good. The green will flash 3-5 times, then yellow will be slightly longer about 2-3 seconds, then only red.

Some are badly programmed. From green, then yellow for 0.5 seconds, then red.

The yellow-box grid-lock cause a lot of traffic jam chain reaction. Lack of enforcement also.
Anyway, OOT from AES.

QUOTE(shalzkasbsp @ Oct 8 2012, 03:09 PM)
was wondering how close do u need to be before slow down when see camera...i was about 200 metres away from the camera and slow down till 90 around 100 metres away from the camera but the fella still flash at me..the cars in the lane beside me wer sumwat travelling in a similiar speed as well

was wondering if there is a minimun detection distance?

location : Kajang ( Northbound to KL)
*
When you see the warning signboard, start release the pedal and let it cruise down to 80-90km/h.
This may take about 500-1000m+ and by that time, you will reach nearby the camera.

The camera detect and shoot at about 100-200m+ (from the pole), to capture your front plate number.

Those previous handheld or tripod mounted radar gun, straight line can shoot up to 2km.
By the time you see the fellow squatting down at pillar, most of the time is too late already. Unless he press wrong or shaking or temporary blinded by the sun or missed it.
But they normally shoot at 300-800m range.
Therefore, when approaching interchange, PLUS always has 3 signboards. 2km, 1km and 500m.
I'll release pedal and move to slower lanes immediately after pass the 2km board.

btw, what about tailgaters? sometimes those annoying buggers rite on your tailpipe, forcing you to speed until u got place to gv them space to overtake...in such situation the front car get stuck for the behind car get away rite
*
As sad and unfair as it sound, if the tail-gater follow close enough to the front car bumper and based on the camera angle and height, it is possible that the plate number cannot be capture. shakehead.gif

Therefore, in such situation:
1) If no camera, just speed up, and move left. Remember the undang-undang, "Ikut kiri kecuali memotong"

2) If got camera, I'll rather signal and move left immediately, maintain speed or slow down. No matter how heavy is the traffic. Not worth to risk RM300 / summon

QUOTE(sanosizo @ Oct 8 2012, 05:13 PM)
what if we engage high-beam when we're nearing the camera location?
*
In morning/noon day-light, does not work, as the sun is much brighter than the puny high-beam.

At night, the AES flash is powerful enough, to capture at high speed. Therefore, does not work also.
Unless you do James Bond style, rotating license plate tongue.gif which is illegal shakehead.gif

*
Not necessary. As the story goes, without full/strict enforcement, there is no point to keep issuing summons.
So, if everyone gang up and don't pay... cause even blacklist, JPJ still allow renew 6 months road tax. doh.gif

Then PDRM/JPJ sweat.gif ... and start to give 1Malaysia discount doh.gif

QUOTE(cokelatpanda @ Oct 24 2012, 10:20 AM)
Let’s play physics. If  I’m travel on Plus highway cruising 150km/h. Can I arrive at the AES camera make a 110km/h cruising within 2 -3 km stretch (The AES warning signboards are located between 2km and 3km before the camera)? What’s the optimum stretch if I want to slowdown gradually, no sudden braking?
*
For steady drive, I'll lift the pedal at 2.5 - 2km mark (You should see the 2km board before you reach that board) and start to move left.
Ensure 1km mark the speed is already at 90 or 110.

For spirited drive, taruh until 1km mark, brake hard.

AES can work at >200km/h

Which is faster ? your physical vehicle or light-speed ?

QUOTE(Megaboyz @ Oct 25 2012, 03:26 PM)
This AES can capture the speed of the normal plane if i'm not wrong. Got my friend test it to the plane and got 300++ km/h.

Basically, even super cars can't do anything about it.

Even a motorcycle got caught by the AES. One of my friends got flashed by the AES in SKVE next to shell petrol station. It was night and he was in 2nd lane with 120km/h.

Just a question, does the AES really have been enforce and need to be payed?
*
Yes, if a motorcycle travel at middle/fast lane, and if exceed, picture will be taken. As long as the object is "big" enough to trigger detection.

To be a loyal citizen, just go and pay.
For the rest of Malaysia Boleh, don't pay first. Why ? Cause there is summon, but no enforcement. So what if not pay ? Currently I know still can renew road tax 6 months continuously without limit, if got summons but did not pay.
Later, wait for it system cancel due to error, or 1Malaysia discount promo 50-70%.

QUOTE(chris_tco @ Oct 25 2012, 03:35 PM)
i have another concern. according to the AES coordinated locations which were provided by JPJ, why there r few AESs installed under the sea?

are they trying summon those over-speed submarine too?

http://www.malaysiakini.com/news/212472
*
I think most likely typo/printing/communication error when passing the co-ordinates from one person to another ... and another.

Just want to ask before reaching the KL-Seremban highway toll entering KL, what is the speed limit there?

I follow the signboard 110km/h, but dunno why kena photo...
*
From Seremban towards KL direction, is 110km/h. BUT once reach Bangi interchange, reduce to 80/90km/h (forgot) all the way (Bangi-Kajang-Serdang-) until Sg. Besi toll and there-after.

Vice-versa if opposite direction.

QUOTE(masao343 @ Oct 29 2012, 03:04 PM)
in the near future, all cars will be connected wirelessly to a master traffic system where the car will be speed limited to whatever the speed-limit of the road it is on. no need AES anymore. just wait for it to happen tongue.gif
*
But before that, there will be GPS tracking and tolling installed.
If go higher than speed-limit, automatic get e-summon or snail-mail.
tongue.gif
Already in phase now.

Closed road-tolling (PLUS, LPT) also has the capability to check it.
e.g. If you enter Penang at 12pm and exit Jln Duta at 2:30pm (without stop/rest), it's quite obvious that you travel >300km in higher speed.
At exit, they have camera to capture your license plate, and link it to your transaction, i.e. exit + entry

QUOTE(owenwong84 @ Oct 29 2012, 04:40 PM)
What the fish.. No signboard show 80 or 90 speed there.
1st signboard is speedtrap zone, then 110km/h 2km, then 110km/h 1km, then cicak....
*
There are signboards (red circle with number in it). Try look closely from Seremban -> KL.
Before Bangi interchange, there is something like "110 Tamat 1km di hadapan" (or "90 had laju di hadapan"?)
At Bangi interchange, there is "110 Tamat"
Right after the under-bridge interchange, there is "90 Mula"

Vice versa also.
