QUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 10 2012, 09:04 AM) I'm running class 10 (supposedly), feels more like a class 8 to me. Hahaha... so far, it has never occured to me. I don't think I'm so hardcore though. Most of the time its like... <10 pages opened up in browser. Rarely I leave heavy games opened up... cause when I play heavy games it's like when I'm back home, lying in bed already (very rare also nowadays with the work in school).... And wait until you overmax the swap with multiple image/animation heavy websites. It gets ugly. Really. Ever seen the S3 crawl to a halt? Admittedly, that's intentional so it doesn't count as "real world usage" lol. Normal usage wise I'm still quite happy - if it's even the swap's fault. It might be Siyah lol. Ah the joy of flashing all sorts of weird homebrewed stuff into 2k's worth of electronics. I'm only using zram in stweaks which to me is good enough.. cause I don't think I really need like 1GB of slow swap space. just 300MBs of 'emergency' swap space so that certain programs don't completely freeze or stop running. slow to a halt.... so far never happens la. Maybe I'll purposely stress it during the holidays (when I'm Free-er) just to see what happens. |

Well, ben has mentioned before that most of the reported people with rooted devices (some even didn't flash back to stock before sending) all were accepted without any real reports of a device being sent back.
AND if you wanted to root your device... read the disclaimer eh? It does say something about this whole 'sending to SC' and 'messing up your warranty' thing right? It's really a do it at your own risk kinda thing. So, if you were one who has rooted the phone, you kinda accepted that probably you wouldn't be able to claim warranty, no? |

QUOTE(IpohBoY @ Aug 11 2012, 02:21 PM) I just got my S3 2 weeks back and was thinking to root it. Since I'm new to android, I have a few questions to ask. 1.http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=16742861) I am currently on DXLF3 firmware. How do I find and restore to this stock ROM in case I wanna revert back? 2) Which ROM is preferred here? Heard most of you recommending Wanamlite? 3) How do I backup everything before starting rooting? 2. Stock Based Roms are popular. Wanam, Checkrom, and Omega are among them. 3. Nandroid backup? Reboot to recovery and you should know what to do next. Howeeeeeeeeever. here is something you should read at least. http://www.vikitech.com/10347/perform-nand...-android-device. and lo... root |

QUOTE(benny888 @ Aug 12 2012, 07:28 AM) don't pay rm25. I complain to the supervisor why it is free in celcom n not in maxis? Immediately she change for me free Just a few months ago, wanted to change my sim card in maxis and they said it's RM50. They added that it has always been that charge. I remember someone said in the SGSII forum that changing sim card was free? I also feel like getting a proper micro sim instead of just getting one cut from my previous old sim |

QUOTE(db07mufan @ Aug 13 2012, 09:21 AM) Hey guys small problem, don't know if it has been asked before but i did a search on this thread no avail. *#0011# and turn off Wifi power saving mode and see if things change. I'm pretty happy with my S3 so far and been vouching it to this friend who wanted to get a phone . He finally got one yesterday and then LOL he can connect to his mobile data, outside wifi but not his house. It shoes connected to wifi but simply refuses to load a webpage, all other devices can surf without a problem. Anyone of you came to know of this issue? Now he's pissed and complaining how crappy android is HAHAA Some routers do have compatibility issues with mobile devices. It's not an exclusive android issue. |

QUOTE(alexlimco @ Aug 13 2012, 11:14 AM) I have switched off the % indicator in the status bar and decided to enjoy my S3 to the max without such worries. To be honest, it works far much better and longer than my previous N8, S PLUS, my partner's previous S2 and my wife's current iPorn4. Battery draining is inevitable on smartphones. If you wanna make the most out of the juice you have, you'll have to learn how to OPTIMIZE the usage of the phone without having to forsake usability and 'not using' the phone just to save battery. Which I have to admit, is quite the learning curve for many people QUOTE(RedDevils88 @ Aug 13 2012, 11:16 AM) Good luck. Post your results here. remember to follow the instructions to the core. Flash ROM first then immediately flash the mod without rebooting the device. based on the thread's posters, 64GB cards vary in success. Good luck and have fun |

QUOTE(weretiger @ Aug 13 2012, 11:26 AM) while i was with my old HTC Desire (now becomes my baby's toy). i never afraid battery issue as i charge it pretty much twice per day due to games+connection on 24/7 different grass different grasshopper mawith S3, it last me at least from 7am -> 7pm, even with games + connection on, charge it once when i got home. sometimes i turn off connection if busy or not using my phone, it last me till next morning and charge it @office. Speaking of iphone4, my idiot coll told me battery -1% every 5 hours. I said to him:" really? lets bet, my phone vs yours. if yours can last 1% in 5 hours, i give you my this month's salary. Else, you give me yours" then he just smile and says:" no la... this month need to use money....." I was like.... QUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 13 2012, 11:28 AM) Stability lol. I undervolt my GPU also get artifacts what use, because I've overclocked them to begin with. buttery? truly? Probably I'll test run it AFTER I run wanam2.2 for a bit.I'm running 266, 350, 440, 533, 600 for GPU. Just thought I better not skimp on the volts if I'm running the GPU up to 200MHz above normal lol (S3 normal max is 440). Not major Overvolting too, just slight 25mv bumps. Maybe it's just me, but with OCed GPU steps, everything is so much more buttery. My CPU runs -100mv though. 100Mhz -volt? Wow. I'm going just -50Mhz and I'm already tempted to revert it back. No real change in battery life. |

QUOTE(thana146 @ Aug 13 2012, 12:02 PM) My phone everythIng on stock. No. That should not happen. I know it's not stated anywhere, but I always recommend a reboot after any system modification.Yesterday updated the fIrmware to XXBLG1. For the 1st time my phone automatically rebooted. Anyone experience this? QUOTE(Kasumie @ Aug 13 2012, 12:03 PM) These days while using some apps suddenly it will shut off and come to the home screen. Or sometimes it will hang. Hanging does sound like a RAM congestion issue. Try clearing RAM and see from there if it improves. If that helps, then check your running apps to see what's hogging it up. If it doesn't help, then you might wanna check which app seems to be hanging all the time and maybe that is the culprit. So planning to factory reset the phone. I have already back up with kies . So my questions here once reset , then I store back all data using kies. Will application store back or need to download again ? veryyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyyy peculiar though... shouldn't happen eh? QUOTE(TamiyaOne @ Aug 13 2012, 12:06 PM) here is my screenshot.. noted it when change the rom to wanalite 2.2. just wan to know it is ok or need some tweet It looks normal. Of course, it doesn't show to what extent you are stressing your phone to. Use BBS for more info if you really wanna get anal about saving the extra minutes on your 2100mAHQUOTE(Eiraku @ Aug 13 2012, 12:23 PM) Maybe it's Wanam's new optimizations in 2.2 + the OCed GPU lol. Me, seems to be working fine so far with my tweaks, UC. Following a lot of Gohkan's own settings actually and under just a taddddddddd bit.. I tend to UC quite a bit to the extent it doesn't hamper performance. I can't tolerate 'unbutteriness' if that's a new JB word. Anyhows, I'm UCing the CPU more for decreased heat anyway, and as such it's working well (+ the new modem, which helps). Battery savings? Not so much, though idle drain does lessen a bit. I have a spare battery at the ready anyhow so 5 hours full time screen on is good enough for me. I think most of us go loco on the internet browsing and thus far it has been a blissful experience no matter what tweak I do on it. So... no difference there I guess. QUOTE(cloud999 @ Aug 13 2012, 02:05 PM) You can try mybackups But based on your response, you seem afraid to un install paid apps. Don't worry. Play store works on a one off purchase concept. Subsequent downloads of the same app is free under the same accountaccount. |

QUOTE(riziger @ Aug 14 2012, 05:31 AM) The problem is, due to the very lousy quality cell reception, sometimes my messages don't go out. This is ok if the phone lets me know, so I can retry. However, Handcent does not. It will just keep "sending" in the bubble screen and it thinks the message is already sent when I click message details. Obviously this is nonsense as I think I have already replied but the message did not send out and there is no warning anywhere that the message has not been sent. Any ideas? On previous android phones, Handcent will notify me whenever it's unable to send. The stock messaging is waaaay too ugly for me and using Checkrom its removed anyway on mine. QUOTE(Fantasia @ Aug 14 2012, 09:05 AM) R u using digi? Coz I have few friends who r using digi experience the same problems. They can't even receive my text message until few hours later after I sent... The first thing to doubt is probably the carrier. However, even if that's so, it should not happen too often.Try using another messaging app i.e. go sms pro or the default messaging app and see if the problem persists... if it doesn't then most probably you'll have to reinstall handcent or something like that.
