Datasonic to raise RM40.75m from IPO


KUALA LUMPUR: Datasonic Group Bhd expects to raise RM40.75mil from its initial public offering (IPO) on the Main Market of Bursa Malaysia Securities.

It said on Friday the IPO includes the sale of 20.37 million shares and an offer for sale of up to 7.93 million existing shares at RM2 each. Of the 20.37 million shares, it is offering six million units to the public.

Datasonic chairman Tan Sri Mohamed Hashim Mohd Ali said at the prospectus launch the company's impending listing will translate to higher capacity and capability to create a stronger company profile and allow easier access to the capital market when required.

Public Issue

6,000,000 Public Issue Shares, representing approximately 6.67% of our enlarged issued and paid-up share capital, will be available for application by the Public, of which at least 50% shall be set aside for Bumiputera investors including individuals, companies, societies, co-operatives and institutions.
Our eligible Directors, employees and persons who have contributed to the success of our Group
In recognition of their contributions to the success of our Group, we have reserved 4,009,996 Public Issue Shares, representing approximately 4.46% of our enlarged issued and paid-up share capital, for subscription by our eligible Directors, employees and persons who have contributed to the success of our Group.

Bumiputera Investors Approved by Ministry of International Trade and Industry (MITI)
8,517,000 Public Issue Shares, representing approximately 9.46% of our enlarged issued and paid-up share capital, have been reserved for Bumiputera investors approved by the MITI.
Selected Investors via Placement
1,847,000 Public Issue Shares, representing approximately 2.05% of our Company’s enlarged issued and paid-up share capital, have been reserved for placement to selected investors.


Offer for Sale

Concurrent with our Public Issue, the Offeror will offer for sale up to 7,932,000 Offer Shares, representing approximately up to 8.81% of our enlarged issued and paid-up share capital to selected investors, identified by us or our Placement Agent.

Don't know yet, haven't even download the prospectus....

2.00RM. not cheap

Not only expensive but potential up swing is also very less. This being ICT company, normally not much interest from public. Mesiniaga was the first IT firm to list in KLSE back in 1999 at issue price of RM1.90 only. After 13 years the price now is hovering around < RM2.10. My guess this Datasonic could be between RM1.80 to RM2.20 on listing day. Hope this is not going to be another SCAN ASSOCIATES.

Just bought 10 lots in this stock...

In fact, the Chairman of Datasonic, Tan Sri Hashim Mohd. Ali, is also sitting on the Board of the company I'm working for (in the same position), and during our last meeting, he did mention about the company going for listing... If I'm not wrong, they are the ones who grabbed the contract for the MyCard chip from Iris Technologies...
