i am bringing my car into tomorrow for her first service. i've gone thru' the owner's manual, check-list and i've also noticed several things. i wonder if anyone has experiences on some queries and issues i've identified, and wouldn't mind sharing your opinions and advice:

1. Manual unlocking using the key - When unlocking using the key, can the alarm be disarmed without the remote?
2. Starting the ignition - I remember some other members experienced the same issue: after a long period of inactivity, say several hours, when the car engine is started again, there is a really short loud grinding sound from the engine.
3. The car is very sluggish at slow speeds or when moving from stop. Will a retune or remap of ECU (whatever that is) help?
4. Noisy CVT transmission/engine at low rpms and/or low gears.
5. Steering wheel veers to the left slightly - Tyre balancing and re-alignment needed? Will Proton do this as part of the servicing?
6. Rear left wheel/suspension creaks when turning at low speeds or going up the hill.
7. Dashboard rattles/vibrates, particularly when accelerating at lower gears/speeds.
8. ESC indicator on the console - Lights up on when lights switched on. Shouldn't it light up when with the lights switched off?
9. Windshield washers - Left side sprays water at a considerably lower angle; is this intentional so that the water is washed across to the other side when the wipers are turned on?
10. Left front grill of the front fog lights is covereed versus the right side.... I think a member hightlighted this before; is this intentional?
11. GPS maps/software - Do they upgrade it often with each servicing?
12. Head lamp leveling switch next to the Start/Stop button is abscent - Not available for M'sian models?
13. Head light flasher will not turn off when lever is pulled inwards slightly and released.
14. In the Proton Preve Checklist made by the LY members, there is a "seat belts height adjuster" entry. I don't see any way to adjust the seat belts heights..... is it a change for some models of the Preve?

okay, good to know in the event in the future, i have to manually unlock the car.

i was told by the mechanic after my 1st service that i don't need to step too hard on the brake. and yet, when i don't step too hard, the grinding sound is still there upon a cold start. but this morning, i tried it again, and there wasn't any grinding sound.... hmm... i'll have to keep trying.

i've not noticed any major changes in responsiveness, i suppose, i'll have to drive it more to really take note.


i too was told before the 1km mark, it would be free. however, my sales assistant booked me into a 3rd party Proton authorised service centre, and not the main Proton 3S service centre. i was pretty disappointed. otherwise, i would have that sorted out already.

found out the issue, it was a poorly secured back seat, solved!

i'm thinking of getting a camera installed as well, i'll have to read back in the old posts to see which dealers the forum members are happy with, and i wonder for how much.

i suppose you have a point. as long as it's working yea.

oh okay, kewl. just replace the SD card from the concealed card slot yea.

yeah, sad we don't have that option installed. i think it's an important feature to use whilst on the highway.

yeah, i noticed when only the LED lights are switched on, there isn't an issue. only with the dipped lights on, depressing the lever slightly doesn't release it. i haven't test it with the front fog lamps yet. i'll have to test it out.

oh okay, well, i'll have to keep driving to take note. also, disappointed as my car was sent to a 3rd party authorised Proton service centre, as opposed to a 3S one. so the mechanic only gave the excuse it's normal for the Preve to be sluggish. performance will only kick in after 3000rpm.....

once again, not the Proton 3S, hence they didn't have balancing/wheel alignment facilities. i'm not happy with my SA

oh, i'll have to spot this later.

ooooooh.... noob question. what does an intercooler do? nevermind, i just looked it up, it's to cool the turbocharger of the Prevé engine right? that's the fan i heard after the engine is turn off?

oh.... is that true? hmm.... then, not a fault, but designing flaw i would think because, i feel if you're driving at night, with dipped headlamps, then you wanna flash, have to keep pressing the lever hard in to turn off and on. that's just a minor inconvenience.

my car is 2 months old and still looks like new. you goyang ponggong when you sit is it?

i too am pretty disappointed with my 1000km service. next time, i would send it back to an 3S SC as opposed to my SA sending my car to a 3rd party authorised Proton one.

they didn't do a re-tune when i request them to do so; the mechanic only gave the excuse the car only picks up at 3k rpm..... right.....

also, i have a question for every one, for the 1000km service, what motor oil did they use? the mechanic told me, my CFE car needs to use 5W 40 Shell Fully Synthetic motor. i didn't argue with him, but when i looked in my user guide, i didn't specify using such an expensive motor oil.....
