if you open account on 30 Aug, you have 1 to 30 Sept any day to bank in the money, RM1000 to earn 3%. RM50 to earn 2.85%.

If there is no other better offer in Sept, Oct...I will probably top up the previous saving combo hence no need to bank in RM1k ...if not I just deposit RM50 will do...3-2.85 = 0.15% interest difference only..

Yup, agreed. I guess I will also do the same. biggrin.gif

Didnt notice ...thanks for highlighting here...
Hong leong bank

3 mth FD 3.95%, max 10k, 1k in saving account till 31 oct.
6 mths FD 3.5%, interest credited when mature
12 months FD 3.6%, interest credited monthly

"3 mth FD 3.95%, max 10k, 1k in saving account till 31 oct."

Sound doable? - quite similar to the concept of OCBC 3 month promo.. hmm.gif

Talking about the HSBC 5% promo...
I noticed the promo is extending to 3 more new branches and to Oct/Dec 2012.
- Cyberjaya
- Kulai
- Sri Gombak

For those who are around those new branches, highly recommended as it is the best offer so far.  thumbup.gif
Do check out the link below and read the TnC before proceeding.

My OCBC FD is expiring before month end. So now the best 3-month FD is HLB (3.95%) based on 1st page summary (not including OCBC since they need FRESH fund). Correct me if I'm wrong.

Hl bank maximum 10k only. Ocbc can still be renewed through rentals in the morning and use personal cheque in the afternoon. Can arrange with bank to pre-sign document before maturity date
*
Thanks for the tips. Can we use personal cheque to open FD? I thought they accept banker's cheque only? What do u mean by "renewed through rentals"?

As far as OCBC is concern, personal cheque is as good as banker cheque and the FD starts the moment you open FD. Early morning rentas into Bank X, afternoon when fund available, use personal cheque from Bank X to open FD. Rentas costs RM9.
*
Thanks. In that case, I will use personal cheque rclxms.gif
Btw, it will be a Friday so I hope it wont cause any complication in terms of cheque clearing.

Alliance bank got step-up FD promo. 3.1% on first few months, 6% on the sixth month deposit. Need to open savings account with cash that's 10% of FD deposit.

Just for the record, doubt its really attractive

How did you come out with 4.55%?

Do you have the link? Or any detail info?
I could not find this FD promo on their website..  sad.gif

Thanks

RHB FD promo usually is not attractive, just like Public bank.
And AM bank is also very quiet recently..

Added on November 30, 2012, 11:04 am

Just called to Alliance Bank to ask for their FD promo.

Alliance Bank is having a 6 month term FD promo like below:

From first to 3rd month, FD rate is 3.1%
From fourth to fifth month, FD rate is 3.2%
Six month, FD rate is 6%

Average is 3.616% p.a. for 6 months term of FD ---> only 90% of fund will get 3.616%. remaining 10% will go to CASA
Minimum amount is RM 10K fresh fund.

But need to put 10% of the total amount of FD into current account or saving account.

So, the total 100% deposits (90% FD + 10% CASA) will get less than 3.616%

And the 10% fund in CASA cannot be withdrawn for 6 months.
*
Ah, <3.616% is not really high. Rather go for conventional type like UxB though slightly lower.

Thanks. You have helped me to plan next year when FD and SS account mature. Hopefully at that time there are good rates available and I can just withdraw all together.
*
Mine is worse I think. I opened another combo FD in OCBC (1st is 4.50% n 2nd is 4.00%). So my smartsaver is accumulation of 2 FD combos n can't make the withdrawal till the 2nd FD is matured in order to get the max 3.00% sweat.gif

Am bank in general open on Saturday and one in penang open on Sunday last time. In general those banks in the mall allow normal transactions on weekend.

Quite a few banks open on sunday eg. OCBC n AmBank in Damansara Uptown (except if the Sat is a public holiday or it's a first Sunday of the month).

Hi guys, I received a RM10 "BULK CREDIT" in my OCBC smart savers (part of FD combo). Anyone knows what's that for?

Thank for the update Bro.

Like I speculated, OCBC's promo rates would at least match UOB's.
Based on 4.5% with ratio of 2:1 as reported by gsc, I work out the effective interest rate ranges from 3.8% to 3.9667% with Smart Savers (2.4% to 2.9%). Pretty good if deposit RM1K into SS every month.

But to note, the effective interest rate reduces every single day (starting from beginning of the month) since the SS interest rate drops to 0.5% with a single withdrawal. So in order to get the maximum effective interest rate, the deposit should be on 1st of every month (and take note on the clause on the savings portion when withdrawing, e.g. maintain for 90 days or 3 months since February only has 28 days).

Happy New Year 2013 smile.gif

Bro, I redo my calculation, if not wrong then Bonus Saver is better than Combo ?

Interesting. Too bad my yr 2012 combos will only end in Jan and Feb 2013, respectively. I need to hold on till Feb or else the amount in smart saver a/c will need to be accumulated again (without withdrawal) with the new 2013 combo.

Based on total amount of 32k
1. Bonus Saver
FD - 20k - dep date 1-1-13 - maturity date 1-4-13
SS - 10k + 1k + 1k (compounded)
Rate= 3.81%

2. Combo
FD - 25k dep date 1-1-13 - maturity date 1-4-13
SS - 5k + 1k + 1k (compounded)
Rate= 3.67%

Pls check .

1 st table is FD
2,3 & 4 is Smart Saver
*
So means the new package aka bonus saver is slightly better. I will stick with OCBC in that case for another 3 month tenure thumbup.gif

Read thru past few pages. Seems majority are talking abt HLB FD promo. Any good ones for 3 or 6 months tenure besides HLB and OCBC?
