I saw some lyn member only 28-30 earn the same salary as you.

Probably you should try find other private company which offer better paid & bonus then stay in government sector for the rest of your career.

Now 6-7k is nothing for a family person. With that salary can't even afford to buy a 500-700k double storey.
*
Sorry bro. Dont underestimate the pension. By the time he will get 7k rm without working and worrying. And he could start up business in his retirement.

In private company, your job not secure enough and u work long hrs. I know 6 yrs in big 4 u can get 7.5k.

If i were him, i will do part time business too. Gov job not stressful.

Just sharing my years of experience in the industry.... If u're not planning to become an enterepeneur, then

First phase of your career (0 - 10 years), get a good kick start for your career e.g. Good industry, potential jobscope, outstanding environment / working culture, etc

For accounting degree holder go to audit firm e.g. The big 4, don't stay for less

For engineering degree holder go to upstream O&G company

Note: To choose company based on salary, because one company can pay you extra 1k per month is just naive, job hopping too much and soon you will find yourselves unwanted by the industry elite (this is diiferent with freelancing), to think that work less play more is a good thing is just stupidity as this is the phase you should build your career and capability e.g. Not looking for the best renumeration and easy work yet (that's for the next phase!)
Second phase of your career... This is the time which will define who you are in the corporate world, if u've done enough or need further push... But most important u've selected the right track... I'm not saying other line of work or industry is not good, but if you want to join the elite workforce in the Malaysia environment, thsi is the way u must do it... Based on my observation...

My 2 cents worth  whistling.gif

What is your experience? I agree with u about big4. I hv higher salary in commercial but in long term people in big 4 has higher salary than me.

Allow  me to share my personal experiences.

I'm in the banking and finance line for almost 8 years before i decided to venture out on my own.

Leaving the comfort zone and taking that leap of faith is never easy. I just trust my gut feel and let God show me the way.

Initially, it was very very tough but you should never gave up easily.

Nowadays, i trade stk mkt FT and on a normality basis, i can easily make 30 to 60K a month. In a bull mkt, the sky is the limit.

What i'm trying to say is that, in whatever things you do, there bound to be people who will throw shits at you.

But you should always trust yourself first and foremost and persist at all cost.

May you all achieve success soon.

Can you tell me about your venture ?
Does the money higher than when u work in bank?

hence, i assume he is currently making a lot more than what he used to earn in bank

But from where he got the capital of 3 million?
His last salary is about 5k. 60*8 = 480k.

It is good to try out different company to have different experience. If you can get a better offer like 30-40% increment on top of your salary after promoted, you may give a try. Else, stay with current company.
Money is very important especially you jump ship to a new company and you found that you don't like the new company.

How to get in to Big4? Just send your resume & apply job thru Big4 website. If you attend interview before & not manage to get in, then you may not good enough or may have attitude problem.

Some of my friends who can't speak fluent English still manage to get in. These days Big4 had lower their requirement due to short of candidates.

In 10 years ago, the Big5 (when Arthur Andersen still around) only recruit top student/employee. If you ever fail any paper in ACCA/CIMA/CPA you are disqualify in their list. But now world has change.

Bro. do you really think working in Big4 really give you big money?

Lets do the maths
Let say Big4 offer 4k & commercial is 3.5k

Big4- Work average 12 hours for 25days (sometime work on Sat)= work 300hrs/mth

RM4000/300hrs = RM13.33/hr

Pros-
gain more experience & get promoted every 1-2 years (due to very high staff turnover)

Cons-
No life, workaholic life, sleepless, very stressful life, no entertainment, no time for family/partner & etc
Commercial- Work average 9 hours for 22 days (sometime OT) = work 198hrs/mth

RM3500/198hrs = RM17.68/hr

Pros-
better bonus, work life balance, less stress, more time for family/partner and etc

Cons-
Less experience gain, hard to get promoted, routine work and etc

Anyway it is all depends what you really want, if not happy with current job, stop whining and go get better job and offer. If you can't get any offer, blame no one and continue you current role.
*
To become manager in big 4 is easier than in commercial. You think that i never OT. I OT everyday and unpaid and being labelled by other MNCs that i never OT and lack of exp since i was in MNC. Better sacrificed myself in big 4 and got recogntion.

The reason I share my salary are as followings:-
1)I would like to know where do I stand .
2)I realise seldom info from plantation industry share their information here mayb they are all hiding in jungle. I am hoping more ppl from the same industry as me will post their salary here after I did the 1st step.
3) in this industry we hav to stay in the interior location so to compensate the bosses hav to pay higher salary to those qualified person and retain them.
4) Palm oil is the second industry that make the most profit for this country after oil and gas industry. So if u really good and make significant profit it is possible to hav high salary.

I am not trying to convince u that I am true but just want to let u know the reason behind. Thanks for letting me know ur opinion I appreciate it very much.
*
Regarding no.4 i din't agree. Because i was offered by one of big listed palm oil company with same salary with my current. They cannot go beyond what i want. They convinced me that big company not always give high salary

To become assistant manager in big4, yes provided you very hard working & smart & able suffer to work >4 years. But to be manager level, you must have professional qualification plus you are really really good & hardwork.

All the best to you to get in Big4, but seen you attended some of the interview, sorry to said they have some cooling period before you can go for another interview. Seen they don't offer you a job, they must have some reason behind and you should think about it.

A genuine advise, instead of keep complain & comparing, please put all your effort to complete your CIMA. With professional qualification you can easily get a better paid job. If you stuck completing it, there goes your salary level also.
*
Thank you for your encouragement bro.

Firstly, i can say whenever i saw job advertisement,80% prefer big 4 exp. From april this year i have attended about >10 interviews. Most gave up on me because my expected salary is too high. I also saw my cousin in kpmg is difficult to switch to commercial too since her salary is high in kpmg. I can conclude mnc pay peanuts too now, they focus on cost saving.

Secondly, i need to finish 6 more papers in cima. And i thought my experience as accounting supervisor will be valued more? I am directly report to FM/CFO in my company and i hv 5 people report to me. And for pay i am earning less than 5k.

Bro. MNC look more on qualification then your experience, so as the Big4, you never make it to Manager le

I always said, if you feel underpaid, just jump other company who willing to offer you. If you can't get any better offer, mean you are well paid and you need to work harder to get better paid.

Honestly, 6 papers is a long way, you should focus more to it for the sake of your high paid career dream. Please extent your vision, and not be short sighted & see the short term benefit.

I rarely see any MNC Finance Manager/Director with Degree only. Only SME & some Chinaman company who prefer experience then professional qualification.
*
I don't need best benefit, my current company has one of best benefit here. What i dont like from MNC, the increment there is only 10%.
I will finish my cima soon bro.what are other qualification that useful? Take another degree? My degree result not good, i got 2nd lower, just need few points to make it 2nd upper but employer like PwC not treat it as excuse.sighzz..and xima not relevant to big 4 right?

employment is no longer safe. I used to be a young ciku and like all, i gave my all in my works. Sad to say, after 8 long years, it goes nowhere.

But luckily i stay frugal all this while and managed to save some money.

Now that im on my own, i have so much freedom and do what i like and best of all, i no need some smart alec tell me i'm not good and shit like that.

You guys are already good now. You just need to reach into your self belief system and get out of that so call comfort zone to be great.

CIMA 6 papersĀ  hmm.gif Please let me know if you can complete by end of 2013.

Most people will go further study for Master Degree.

10% annually still consider low? Guess starting own business only can fulfill your desire & dream. It is very hard to become rich by a employee. Or maybe jump to sales/marketing/property agent can get you to your high paid dream, 10-20k per month not a issue, if you hardwork enough to get the sales.

But in Finance & Accounts, probably work 5-10 years you still can't to reach 10k.

Let me know how many & what level of people in Big4 get 10-20k per month?
*
Senior manager in big 4 should be able command 10k/mth.if every yr you are promoted, within 10 yrs you can achieve that.

I think cannot finish all in 2013. The fastest may 2014 for T4 case study. For exp, i already got 18 mths in commercial.

Then what maater degree u recommend? I thought they prefer prof qualification than maater degree

Generally MBA will recognised by most firm, but it only useful when you going toward manager level.

The preference for Prof qualification or master degree are depend on what level of job you apply, if fresh grad, then most firm will prefer prof qualification, if you are good & experienced >5 year in operation/business, then Master will be more valuable.

If you know business, the paid are decide by how much you can add value & generate income to business. So if you wanna get high paid, ask yourself, how can you derive benefit & income to company, so that they have enough money to paid your salary.
*
It will be definitely not in accounting.
in big 4, auditor will be considered as profit generating whereas in commercial as cost cntre.

Bro. please don't underestimate accounting background, half the director & CEO in Malaysia are from accounting background.

Please be patient & work hard to gain more experience, of cause with prof qualification you climb faster then normal degree holder.

Undeniable some sector paid very good for fresh grad, eg, IT, E&E Engineer & etc. But is very hard for them to climb into managerial level due to they work in frontline, specialise operation job. Finance & Accounting are more flexible & more into business or even go into banking/investment industry.

Stop complain & comparing, otherwise you might end up trapping yourself.

Banking is also so so except investment banking bro.
And not easy from commercial to move. And salary is good for fresh but after that only 10%
