Hi all,
I would like to enlighten all those who are dropping by this forum after attending either the
Team Party at Wisma Standard Chartered or
Marketing Plan Presentation in the Mc-Ocean office at Fraser Business Park, One Metro Pudu.
I have been reading through the threads above and it seems like there are more uneducated/emotional ones than those who are well equipped with the right knowledge/facts about this industry and the company.
For the benefit of all, let me explain what you are going through and what
facts you should know about this company before proceeding to the next stage.First of all,
Mc-Ocean Holding Sdn. Bhd. is a registered company under the:
i)
SSM (Suruhanjaya Syarikat Malaysia) license;
ii)
AJL (Akta Jualan Langsung) license under KPDNKK (Kementerian Perdagangan Dalam Negeri, Koperasi dan Kepenggunaan) -
https://www.kpdnkk.gov.my/kpdnkk/status-sya...ualan-langsung/ (check for Mc-Ocean and downlaod PDF to see the full view); and
iii)
MDDA (Malaysian Direct Distribution Association) -
http://mdda.org.my/members-directory/Rule of thumb is any direct selling company must be registered with these 3 bodies for it to be
legally operating.
There are some threads showing that this company has changed it's name a few times and has appeared in the watchlist of Bank Negara Malaysia (BNM). Just to enlighten those who have no business knowledge,
changing of name is associated with the development of new management/shareholders/shift of license ownership/introduction of new products or service or just for the sake of rebranding. A growing business will go through any of the above mentioned and it is perfectly normal to do so in the business world. Some examples include even Public Listed companies such as SAPURA KENCANA to SAPURA ENERGY, ARAB-MALAYSIAN MERCHANT BANK to AMBANK and many more.
As for the appearance of this company's name in BNM alert list, you should understand that any company that has been queried to BNM by the members of the public as a financial service company will appear in the list to protect the consumers/distributors. Due to lack of awareness, members of the public are going to the wrong authorities to check about this company and hence the appearance of this company in the alert list and not blacklist. (Use this as a reference to make your complaints :
http://www.ssm.com.my/ms/saluran-eaduan ).
Mc-Ocean is classified as a MLM company and not a financial institution/investment company)Now, let's go to the main reason you are here today. Should I proceed to view this opportunity? Am I going to be scammed? And whatever thoughts that are running in your mind.
First of all, you must understand that network marketing is a model of business that is used to distribute products through people be it by retailing or by building a network of licensed distributors who have purchased a sizeable amount of products.
Mc-Ocean Holding Sdn Bhd is using the MLM model to expand its products reach to the market similar to other network marketing companies such as Amway, Hai-O, Coway, Herbal Life and so on and this mode of sales is perfectly regulated and allowed by the government of Malaysia.
The only difference in Mc-Ocean's strategy of attracting distributors are their
3 stage system of making distributors understand about their marketing plan.
Some say this is fishy and why not direct to the point! Why keep it at 3 stages? I am smart enough to understand.
Well,
there must be a good explanation to this system. Mc-Ocean is using the
Network Franchising model to expand their business which means they are
combining network marketing with a "system" (property of a franchise) to enable distributors to understand about the company before making any decision. Here is what I have learned from the system:
Stage 1 : Known as
Team Party and is normally held as a gathering of distributors in Wisma Standard Chartered, Bukit Jalil or previously in Old Town White Coffee, Bangsar South. The rationale behind this stage before introduction of the company is to enable distributors to feel comfortable with who they are going to work with before making a decision of joining or not joining as a distributor. One of the main elements of starting up and expanding a business is to work with the right partners to bring it long term. If you are not comfortable with the distributors at this stage, you are given a privilege to not proceed to the next stage and likewise for the distributors. Also the term "invitation to office is very limited" is something that I would say as a "marketing tool" to ensure newcomers to take this opportunity seriously as no monetary commitments are involved at this stage. Means you have nothing to lose.
The idea is simple: If you are comfortable with the distributors and the environment, by all means please proceed to the next stage. Otherwise, you can politely decline)
Stage 2 : Known as the
Business Presentation. In this stage you will be toured around the office in Fraser Business Park and be shown on the Marketing Plan and system that this company applies to make the sales of products. You will be looking at a basic marketing plan that involves a capital of RM2400++ to become a licensed distributor of the products and being entitled for Stage 3. You will also be enlightened on the KPDNKK Anti Pyramid Act and Distributor application form that shows your rights as a distributor before making a decision.
I would like to expand this section to ensure you understand this stage clearly as many arrive at a confusion after looking at the marketing plan/reading negative comments on this thread.
1) Understand that you are there to seek for a business opportunity and not solely as a consumer of the products.
2) Business must involve products/services.
3) Business that involves tangible products must involve capital to purchase them.
4) MLM can be done by retailing or expansion of distributor network (which must involve purchase of product)
5) There are many method of sales and sales through expansion of network is regulated by the government.
6) Recruitment without purchase of products is illegal. Recruitment with purchase of products is legal.
Some are enraged at this process on why must you make a decision there and then? And why must I pay to go stage 3? Why can't I see the whole process before making a decision?
Let's take it step by step. If you have paid the capital, you are not being scammed.
DO NOT WORRY. One of the clause in the KPDNKK Anti Pyramid Act form that you have read and signed before making the payment is "You are entitled for a 100% refund of all unsold products within 10 working days from the date of purchase". Which means you are able to obtain your capital if there is anything wrong after making the purchase. This is your right as a distributor.
Another reason of making a payment before attending the final stage is a
commitment fee. Understanding how this company works takes time and commitment and it is only rational through a capital. Obviously there can be negotiations of payment as not everyone are financially sound to make a payment of RM2400++ and hence why you are there seeking for an opportunity.
If you are not willing to pay, then maybe you never understood that you have a right to refund your capital/ you didn't know that starting up a business requires a capital. Not liking the marketing plan will be the least of a concern/excuse to make a payment and giving yourself a chance to try the business cause you can actually refund 100% your cash within 10 working days if the system doesnt work according to your preference or as how it has been told.
Stage 3: Known as
MNU which stands for Money and You or MLM and You. This stage is meant to make distributors understand
how to expand this business to a bigger level and maximise your profits. Definitely one of the main variable to make this possible is through a bigger capital and this is an
Optional Plan where distributors will be shown a mechanism to help them expand this business to that level if they want to opt for it. The capital to opt for this plan is RM35,000++ and a blueprint will be drawn to run this business step by step for this plan.
To understand business on a bigger scale, distributors have to be first educated on the system and basic structure of this business. And that is the reason, Stage 2 is built to enable the distributors to understand the system, training by the company and more people within the business itself.
If you opt for this business model, you will be entitled for significantly higher profits and percentage in the company's marketing plan and will be on a faster track towards a higher income position known as the Knight Premier (income potential of average RM20,000/month)
To understand this as a business, you must be matured and willing to look at it from a business point of view and not through the consumer point of view.
Business = sales = profits. Once you understand this equation, you will be able to run a business.
The end game is this. If you are person who is actively seeking for a significant secondary source of income, please proceed and view the business yourself and understand if it can help you.
Know the right facts about an industry/company before making judgements. The comments in this thread are indicative. Take those with the right facts and do not confuse yourself with negative emotions. Be practical about business and know if this can be a financial solution for you. If it is not, do explore other opportunities out there and be careful with what you indulge into. Knowledge is key!
If you have any concerns, do reply to this comment and make sure you attach with facts and proper justification from the authority.
Business is not going to be easy/consistent/quick rich. It requires consistent effort and preseverance to continue building it despite having challenges and competitions. There is no such thing as a perfect scenario business with no risk and gives a high return. Please understand this before making any comments too

The idea is to whether this business can be your second source of income/cashcow
