So I contacted Tune Talk customer service, they claim that they provide 3G services up to 384kbps. Pay per use is 5 sen/MB, and subscription is 88 sen for 50 MB daily. 384kbps isn't that kind of slow? Download speed will be like 40+ kB/s.... Is that enough for web browsing, accessing Facebook, watching Youtube videos, etc.? I believe Digi prepaid is also at 384 kbps, but I've never used it before so not sure how is the experience with it. If anyone had used Tune Talk or Digi prepaid internet, please share your experience with me on whether 384 kbps is fast enough for general usage. smile.gif Oh and if anyone had used Tune Talk, do share with me whether they have experience problems such as no line reception or anything. Thanks.

Btw Tune Talk has pretty nice call and sms rate as well.

P.S. I do know U Mobile has the best plan for prepaid mobile internet, but unfortunately they do not have coverage in my area. Celcom and Maxis are kind of expensive for prepaid. XOX price is pretty good, and fast, but once beyond quota they cut off internet completely. Just want to compare Tune Talk with XOX at the moment.

You cant expect to have the best of everything for the cheapest price.

You want very cheap and slow speed
Prepaid Digi, Celcom, umobile, XOX and tunetalk

You want average priced and average speed
go for postpaid digi, celcom, umobile and tune talk

You want high price with amazing coverage and speed
Maxis

I am light user only, the RM 48 or RM 50 one looks ok, but at the moment don't want to go for postpaid yet.

So basically you are saying that 384 kbps is too slow right? I suspected as much. Thanks, that was what I was asking in this thread. smile.gif

I know. I don't need so fast speed though, just need something that is fast enough to load webpages, facebook, check email and maybe occasionally youtube. I don't intend to download stuff, for that I use wifi. Thing is most postpaid cost more than RM 40, I would prefer something below RM 40. Seeing as 384 kbps is too slow, then I think XOX will be my best bet for prepaid. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Thanks for the advice. Since I don't use that much, I think it might be better to go for those above 384 kbps.

Better u go buy the sim pack then use a day Internet. For me It's Too slow everything is slow. If full fledged website will take a lot longer. Once you apply one month u will suffer a month.

That's a good idea. I see XOX said their download speed, in their own words "up to 1.5mbp/s (On H+ or 3.5G Coverage)". I believe what he/she meant is 1.5 MB/s, which is kind of fast right? That is of course their max speed though...

From our experience unlikely you will receive that kind of speed for that price for unlimited if really that fast alot of us will switch to xox. Oh yea it comes with bandwidth limit so really nothing to wow about since rm18 for 300mb

Maxis skmm 700mb for rm25 can reach 7.2mbps more worthy it le

If like you say, a light user, just simple email, etc. 5 sen per pop onto Tunetalk is a good deal compared to $50. When I used Tunetalk, I couldn't use up the balance until it expired! But that's the problem, no long term validity unless you pay extra.

tune talk says 5sen per mb or per SESSION. what it means by per session, is it mean if i on and off gprs every 5 seconds then in one minute i will be charge 12 sessions? (12 x 5sen = 60 sen/min)

any time limit to finish the 5sen/mb session?

Not sure, but I think you are right. Each time you connect should consider one session, so if poor reception, keep connecting and disconnecting then will charge a lot... sweat.gif If you want to use tune talk should get the 88 sen per day for 50 MB, think will be more worth it than pay per use...

my chat with talk tune so far...

mhtan: tune talk says 5sen per mb or per SESSION. what it means by per session, is it mean if i on and off gprs every 5 seconds then in one minute i will be charge 12 sessions? (12 x 5sen = 60 sen/min)

You are now speaking with Satwin of Customer Service.

Satwin: good morning

mhtan: gd morning, happy sunday to you, wink.gif

Satwin: The data is been charges as 5 cents per MB

Satwin: Which means when you had used 1MB and below, you will be charged 5 MB

Satwin: *5 cents

mhtan: yup, that's right. i am just afraid of the "per session" clause, what if the signal so wobbly that every 100kb they charge new session

mhtan: that mean 50sen per 1mb, could that happen?

Satwin: Nope, that could not happen

mhtan: why do you say that?

Satwin: The price will be quoted when you use 1MB

Satwin: Till you dont reach the second MB, you still been charged for the usage of the first MB been used

mhtan: no time limit? if i use the data carefully that and dont use more than 1mb per day, even i off and on my phone many times that day, i only will be charged 5sen?

Satwin: Yes

Satwin: Is there anything else I can assist?

mhtan: sounds very good, if this is true, this is first time i am proud of malaysian company, hehehe

mhtan: but how do you account for this statement in the website

mhtan: Example 2: - If you download 1MB of data, but it was done in 3 sessions, you will be charged RM0.15.

mhtan: how do you define per session?

Satwin: each session has data usage of 1MB quota

mhtan: dont mean to be difficult but dont you think this contradict example 2? why do you need example 2? if each session is 1mb for is it possible that i dl 1mb in 3 session? 3 session should give me 3mb and not 1mb right?

[long silence...... malaysia boleh] -stay tuned

Added on August 5, 2012, 10:55 am[after long pause]

Satwin: Yes, you are right

mhtan: so how do explain example 2?

mhtan: how is it possible for me to dl 1mb in 3 session with total charge of 15sen?

Satwin: one moment please

mhtan: ok, no prob

Satwin: thank you for waiting

Satwin: for downloading session, if you use data which is less than 1MB in one session you will still be charged 5 cents

Satwin: no matter if you had used less than 1MB for downloading, you will still be charged 5 cents per session

mhtan: But that's not what you said earlier right? Satwin: The price will be quoted when you use 1MB

Satwin: Till you dont reach the second MB, you still been charged for the usage of the first MB been used

Satwin: that is for browsing purposes

mhtan: you have separate rate for browsing and downloading???!!!

Satwin: we follow on the data rate been used

mhtan: satwin, please... do you understand the question?

Satwin: When you had use less than 1MB of data in a session, you will still be charged 5 cents

Satwin: therefore downloading data which is less than 1MB in 3 sessions is being charged as 3 sessions x 5 cents

mhtan: that's my first question!!! but you replied :

mhtan: yup, that's right. i am just afraid of the "per session" clause, what if the signal so wobbly that every 100kb they charge new session

mhtan: that mean 50sen per 1mb, could that happen?

"Satwin: Nope, that could not happen
Satwin: The price will be quoted when you use 1MB
Satwin: Till you dont reach the second MB, you still been charged for the usage of the first MB
been used"

Satwin: I do apologies on the confusion earlier

mhtan: ok, so, if the signal drop and on 60 times per min, that will be 60x5sen = rm3 per min (worst case scenario), right?

Added on August 5, 2012, 11:03 amSatwin: Yes it is

mhtan: 42 min... malaysia boleh...

mhtan: back to square one,,,,

Satwin: Is there anything else I can assist with?

Note: .88 is Auto renewed daily unless you STOP!

The 11:59 cut-off is bad for me. I don't need it in the daytime when there is free wifi.

Do I remember correctly, there is an annual number validity plan? Don't see it on website.

Great, thanks. They mention $10 min balance but what if it falls below briefly, say, after a long call, before you have time to top-up?

I believe that minimum balance only applies at the time you subscribe to the one year, so you need RM48 to subscribe. After that, it should not matter.

what is the download/upload speed for tunetalk? is it really 3G/H+ speed? thanks.

I did manage to get up to 3.6Mbps at Pending Area, Kuching.
It seems to be very laggy when you open any website but once it opens, it's okay.

sorry, im not really get it. the 88sen for 50Mb per day package, is there 88sen net only or? coz i saw what 5sen per 1 session, and i dun really understand. let say im jz use less than 50mb or exactly 50mb, so i jz pay 88sen right? if i exceed 50mb and eah 1mb i hv to pay 5sen, and the 1 session i hv to pay again 5sen during i use that exceed 1mb?

example, i use 52mb and 3 session when use that exceed 2mb, so the costs is 88sen+10sen+15sen?

sorry again for this question, coz i wan to sign that 88sen plan, i do hope i can understand exactly about the plan. thank u so much.

Heard that tunetalk offers better plan now. RM200 for 240GB for 12 months. 20GB per month. With stable connection and wide coverage, i think tunetalk is one of the best telco now.
