Why every time I open Firefox, it will freeze for around 15 seconds then only I can start using it smoothly?

I already disable all plugins but it is still the same.

^ Somehow My PC totally laggy before I got that error.

Guys, about bookmarks.

Having hundreds of links...made it laggy?
Especially a burden on our RAMS?

Try it yourself. Backup your bookmarks then delete all your current FF bookmarks.

Anyone facing the same issue? Youtube embedded videos in forums looks puzzled up, browser running really slow, scrolling moving n lagging, hangs and freezes pretty often although my computer is using win 7 4gb ram and lots of hdd space. All my drivers are up to date and no issues whatsoever yet only firefox does this. Never had this issues before. Anyone reverted back to old version? If yes, which old version is still the best and still safe to use?

user posted image

Check out the screenshot, why the video box looks like that? Sometmes pictures looks the same too till i have to scroll up n down and then it will vbe fine

My Firefox always freezes for around 10 seconds during start up.
I've try disabling all plugins and clearing everything, cache, history etc.
My final solution was using Chrome.

I tend to face that when I'm using Chrome at times. Its not really a ground-breaking issue since scrolling up and down would solve it.

Maybe you can give the beta a try. Do look at the log if there are any changes on last build.

i am also having the same issue and this is a problem with the new version of flash to work with firefox 14. just revert to old version of flash player and everything will be working fine again.

Which version of ff? Do you have a anti virus program in your pc? It could be searching for AV.

Probably your avast is slow in scanning the file. Firefox does not have a virus scanner so it will use your default AV. Anyway, how big is the file?

Regardless of the pc spec, i still think it should not take a long time to complete scan for less than 1mb file. Suggest disable the auto scanning download and use your avast to scan the file manually.

1. Type about:config into the location bar and press enter
2. Accept the warning message that appears, you will be taken to a list of preferences
3. Locate the preference browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone and double-click on it to change its value to false

Thanks! did change it to false too.

Wondering, when I search for the file, there are two similar files :

browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone
services.sync.prefs.sync.browser.download.manager.scanWhenDone

Is it okay if I change both to false?

No, not downgrade the browser version but the flash version. Give this one last try before downgrade your flash. Disable the flash acceleration. Make sure your firefox is on stock settings.

Evening.

From here, it seems my bookmark is till ok since it still has this;

CODE
{"title":"","id":1,"dateAdded":1222235886083009,"lastModified":1223244020340428,"type":"text/x-moz-place-container","root".........................

This solution might work, but this user alterna did not teach step by step on how to create a bookmarklet etc.
Step by step with screenshots might help.
Lazy teacher.

I do not know how to create a bookmarklet.

But I tried; is this correct?
Right click on the toolbar and select 'New Bookmark', paste javascript on the 'Description'.N
Then what?

What is the original bookmark file size that you have backup?

Any reason not to use Firefox build-in bookmark sync feature?
It is the best feature ever make for Firefox.
Just do the setup and the sync is automatic ....

I don't know what you are up to but do paste the javascript at 'location' not 'description'.

Hi guys.

Hm My FF version is 18.0

Funny thing is, how do I bookmark all tabs?

Seems the function is no longer available in the 'Bookmarks' at the toolbar.

Advise please?

^ Thanks a lot @stpmmaths smile.gif

Still, I am wondering as to why the latest version of FF does not have the options to bookmark all tab via the Bookmarks function. Seems a bit ridiculous, no?

Particularly in a thread filled with YT embedded videos.

Also, the browser hangs over plugin crap.

Damn FF makes me sick vmad.gif

Will adding more RAM to my mobo helps? hmm.gif

I have understood 1 thing, being an FF user.
When there is a newer update, just update.

It solves most of the problems.

You see, the older versions, in most cases, will dicontinued from being maintained. So it is best to update to the lates version. smile.gif

Try that frist, before forking out money to buy more RAM.

I mean, web browsing does not require super powerful rig, no ?

LOL you are right also. But maybe it is best if you try to upgrade the FF version first, and see whether it resolves the problem smile.gif

The shites just keeps on coming.

Is it just me or FF makes your browser hang and slows down your computer.

Worse if you have add ons.

After you close it, a pop up window telling you FF has crash etc.

Chrome has no problems whatsoever.

Go with what works. See if another PC in your network suffers the same fate with Firefox.

So many variables as to why it doesn't work, mostly points to a local network filtering system or anti-virus.

The latest Firefox have many additional add-ons and neat builtin functions in case you have another machine.
