Yes, they had many types of AFVs. The Germans couldn't manufacture enough tanks during the war so they made a lot of different types to compensate for this deficiency. Then they started to make tanks without rotating turrets (e.g. StuGs, Marders, Panzerjagers) because they were cheaper, simpler and quicker to produce.

Yup. Check out the 128 mm gun mounted on the Jagdtiger. A gun of this caliber was not seen on an MBT until the late 70s. For comparison's sake, the main gun mounted on the M1A2 Abrams is only 120 mm!
