Hi kawan-kawan.

I've been riding kapchai for the past six-years and now I think is the time for me to get a car. This will be my new car. I really like B-segment car la Honda Jazz, Ford Fiesta due to their small size so it is less hassle to drive in heavy traffic.

Last time I aim for the Honda Jazz but since the big red no longer display appealing attraction, so I shift my target to VW polo. This my new car will be used for my main transportation to replace my aging kapchai and sometime long run through the peninsular for vacation, etc. I already went to VW showroom, while the Polo Sport is quite impressive and I don't think the size is that small, it is acceptable for, but my choice were already spoiled by the polo gti. Prior to the 30k price hikes I think the polo gti is a really great to have car but for the price it asking now I don't know wether it'll remains valid or not.

Feature-wise I really like the gti far more than the ordinary polo, the better looking rim albeit same size. The red dashes here and there. The GTI badge. The semi-bucket seat. And most interestingly is the sunroof, and the DRL, and the cornering light as well. I really like all those extra feature. Don't even mention about the 180hp twincharged engine, that alone I think is worth the extra 30k. But then it still cost extra 50k than Polo Sport. Is it worth it? And if i'm going to shell out those kind of money Jetta, the new Golf start to lure me as well. Not to mention other recond geramny car.

My bring home pay is about 7k++, my budget is 3k for house and car which the house I plan to get in this year also. So for the normal polo, with 9 years instalment I have to pay 1200 monthly so I can afford a better house. But then I don't think it's hard for me the spend extra 500 monthly if the gti badge worth it. And my current job also promise me a better pay in the coming months, if not I already have an offer from competing company which offer basic alone more than total of what I get now.

So, under my situation, a Polo Sport or a Polo GTi? What do you guys say?

I saw one pre-owned polo in VW glennmarie, silver colored, less than 200km mileage, cheaper by 8k than new car.

If not mistaken every dry clutch is less reliable than equivalent wet clutch due to their nature in transferring more power from the engine. There'll be no liquid heat loss in dry clutch system but then it'll generate more heat and friction. I think that is one thing to expect from a performance car. And I've heard few times already that VW 7-speed DSG is problematic, is it really so? Or is it because of their premium feeling here in malaysia make user expect more from the car itself?

If the gearbox is problematic, how often it is fail? Do we have to replace the whole gearbox so often or just repair some part when the problem occur?

Due to those problem I was quite worried on buying used gti, how can I be certain that the used polo gti is not a problematic unit? But the DSG will be covered with the 5-years warranty right? And I doubt there is any careful owner with the polo gti, because people buy it to let their heart race, they won't drive it like they drove any camry or teana.
