i think new 16-50 f2.8 also have same features..
just wonder if the lens itself support dmf.. why still require from body..
like the 18-135 not fully support..

AFAIK if lens no DMF only than use from body...

but even have in body.. the 'old' SAM still not support... end up to use the lens switch..

no idea, will try it out this weekend lo, no free for it...

-_____- errrr not really likethat... come TT la tomolo at KL central 1pm~ lol

its a logical issue u have to think a bit.
DMF is there FULL TIME... u can refocus anytime, its the body's AF system that will "dont understand your are Manual Focusing" and go refocus after u play with DMF... coz DMF once u let go, the clutch activate back to AF mode...
u need the camera to lock, and 'deactivate refocusing'.... so it wont kacau your focusing during DMF
*
So technical and it seem like i created a big issue over here rclxub.gif will try it out, thx for it. notworthy.gif

Wow....Cool, i try to turn on focus ring, it work under AF in lens as well, just scatified the peaking mode as AF did not provide it shakehead.gif

hey jimmy give to me la 18-135 like that lol..
actually i no use the DMF.. so i won't care much.. i just play with the sensor only to make it focus right.. easy AF..

even though A77 has DMF in the body.. most of it only can be used with normal screw driven lens only...

ever since have the peaking mode.. i more prefer to toggle AF/MF.. so i can use with all lens lol.. no double standard..
*
hehe...thanks for the offfer, 8tvt....

Better I try & learn on my gear rather than throw it away, right? Anyway, I dont mind you going to throw your gear to me if you don't like tongue.gif

Hi all Sony A57 users, do u find out u can switch to the middle between AF and MF located on body? Does it means DMF? It does not do autofocus anyway.
*
Hi Chi, u bought A57 as well? A57 did not support DMF on body, but SAM lens do allow you to re-focus after the AF, just have to let go as no peaking mode on it

ya, so half press the shutter and adjust the focus. Nice lens, pretty good in macro at full zoom. This lens is poisonous!

Vote for a 57 as well,
1)it have built in stabilization, will get cheaper lens compare to brand N .
2)tamron and sigma had provide more than enough type of lens
3) Sony always have better light sensitivity(my opinion)
4) EVF & live view did well when capturing photo

Please keep the word, it depend on users, not the gear, who ever don't know maximize the gear function, will not produce good photo for it as well.

if u can spare a little more, yea, jump on the A57, the image quality is slight better in term of lowlight, body feel also more solid (bigger compare to the A3 series).

as for lens, there are currently 2 packages, one with the shorter zoom lens, 18-55 (which is a lot cheaper) and the longer zoom lens, 18-135 (which cost a little more around 700-800)...

my advise is go for the 18135, it is very sharp lens, and very friendly zoom range.

as for "wide angle" topic, first thing you need to know is that you are on a Crop sensor, anything that is larger then 24mm is consider wide angle on crop. and 16mm vs 18mm on crop has not much different... unless u are talking bout "Ultra Wide Angle" UWA, which should range from 10-18 in crop factor. but it will cost u another 2k+ just for that lens. so the advise is still try to shoot with the kitlens (1855 or 18135) and try to understand more how does the lens work,... until then, u will know how to pick the next lens to purchase. smile.gif
*
Go for the wide zoom lens, as it is good enough for beginner to try out differ angle. As most of former said, do test out, familiar with your gear before invest tons of money on your gear, get understand what you need before invest it .

A 18-135mm user here. If u shoot a very wide range, and doesn't care a lot for img quality, go for 250/200mm ones. 135mm isn't quite enough for me(I can use clear image zoom to reach it), but damn. I love to use the DMF function, and use a lot.(Nearly break my fren focus ring, its not a DMF lens >.<) Not sure if half press the shutter & turn the focus ring will do any harm? A57 body doesn't support DMF. mad.gif
*
Chihuahua, the 18135mm lens for common use, it had cover good enough for the wide zoom with sharpen IQ. As per your needed, you could go for 70300mm since you prefer zoom range shooting.

18135mm do allow us to do DMF, half press shuttle then turn the focus ring, just the body A57 does'nt have DMF, not the lens la, just turn the focus ring , bro

Any idea where can get cheaper SP90 lens with credit card payment? Will be better for 0% instalment for credit card, I don't care to apply that card.
