izzit naked bike is more suitable??
*
Naked bikes put the rider in a more upright seating position, hence more suitable for 50-100kms rides. Not so taxing to the rider unless you are so flexible and consistent that you can do the same mileage in X00kms in any form of bike.

Since you are travelling from mainland to Penang daily, consider the ER6F though the 6N proves to handle easier on tighter spots seeing how Penang drivers (mainland and island) drives and behave anyway.

Duke 200 also would be a good advantage for town riding, easy to handle while on the straights can maintain 120km/h and KTM's factory or main distributor is just at Sg Petani. If it breaks and you hate it - burn it in front of the factory and post it to youtube.

btw im 636 lover.
hehe.

Loving it and owning it is different, and I hope it is not the latter. For a simple reason that you can own other better bikes for the same price.

That is my 2 cents and I own a 636!

Phobian regret owning 636?? Riding position too aggressive? I like naked bike but don't like to ride them due to the wind battering. Touring sport still acceptable. Supersports is like too much.. Bone too old to bend. biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif  biggrin.gif ...But I believe in Malaysia budget is more valid point for owning big bike as the price is very high.
*
I love the bike as is but my point is that for the price that we are paying - you can get a better bike.

I myself is an old fart already, still can bend and flip upside down on a supersports. It is a matter of getting used to.

R6 for 80k?! You can get a ZX10R or 2012 R1 with that price at Naza bikes. In comparison with 72K for 2013 636, for 1K less you can also get a Suzuki GSXR 750 L1.

Anyway, I am not going to elaborate further on this as the masses are always saying they do not take trade in Naza's bikes cause they were parallel imported from US and so forth. Best of all is that they are saying that the bikes need Juice box to run with our Ron95 fuel etc etc. And best of all, all authorized retailers are saying you will lose more resale value if buy from Naza and the rants goes on and on. To me, its all bloody bull crap!

I use the 636 for city & long rides - fine with me as it is just a matter of getting used to. If you are looking at the Z800, also take the time to compare it with Aprillia Shiver 750.

Got word that Naza has a new orange coloured 2012 Z1000 going for 70K. Lucky I sold my Z1000 already. And not to mention the upcoming release of the facelifted 2013 Z1000. I really hope this does not piss off current 2010-2012 Z1000 owners.

have to throw my bank books away so i can't be tempted to buy them !!  laugh.gif

Word got around that there will be a 2013 facelifted version. A totally new platform - sure, its in the forecast. Very much depending on the sales succession of Z800. Do not quote me or ask me for proof points cause I am not able to as this are just what I hear and gather from people around.

not only that....

plus US bike mostly have different tuning to cope with emission control..hence lower power whistling.gif
*
US or California bikes has a RON91 & 93. Definitely lower power compared to retail tuned RON95 that we buy over here. From my point of view, if the bikes are ridden by the same rider on a level playing field - I am sure it is just a 2 seconds ET laptime looking at the difference of estimated whp of 10-15 at max. But! For RM10K difference or more, I definitely can make do with the difference. I for one would not be able to utilize the full potential of the bike, so it makes no difference to me whether if it is a US, EU or Pakistani made bike.

As per my understanding, emissions are restricted via the catalyzers. Yes, and I agree that Euro has stricter emission controls - but how many of us is going to keep the cats after putting the slip-ons or even better, replaced with a full exhaust system. Right?

Anyhow, my 2 cents worth is relating very much on practicality vs cost. So long as it makes sense and worthwhile for me to own it - I am sold!

Did your source say anything about the Z1000SX?? Because it is the same platform with Z1000....Z1000SX is my next 3 years target....
*
Nothing was said about the Z1000SX.

3 years time, my as well target a Honda V4-ed engine sports tourer which I believe the VFRs will be equipped with the new engine. Either that, or they will bring back the legacy of CBR600F in a 1000cc powerplant.

sad to say, most of those cases are riders who rode beyond their capabilities

i myself never touched 140km/h. call me sissy, but that's where my personal limit is  laugh.gif

130km/h corner speed isnt it!

My corner speed limit is 60km/h - they call me a chicken rider.

Heard this as well...Really got me worrying more with this kawa thingy. There is a Z800 case also. Is it user fault or manufacturer fault?...Still a big question mark......
*
My take if what was posted by the owner is 100% true, I would say it is a manufacturing defect. The crank case burst/cracked in the manner of the photo posted is due to excessive heat. Many factors contributing to why and how the crank case would heat up till it burst like that. Again, this is not a norm - but I would say most probably he got a bad lemon.

Since the bike is 2.5 years old, I am assuming that it has passed the warranty period. Thus, if Kawasaki does not want to compensate then he will be on his own. But if it is within the warranty period, if it was me - I would bang tables and make a ruckus till they make things right. If they do not, just bring it to the Tribunal court.

This kind of blown case very common in the 4 wheels arena. So many smarty pants went and remove the rev cut, advance timing, run so lean for super throttle response and boooooooossssttttt higher without taking into consideration that it is an engine ecosystem that they are messing with. There are so many other factors to consider as well - but what we hear is only on the surface.

If the big bike is use for weekend ride only, what type of precaution or care should be taken? Do we need to take out the battery? My bike is kind of difficult to start after sitting for a week. Need to press 2 times. Usually only press 1 time and it is alive. And is it better to leave a full tank or almost empty tank if store for a week without riding it?
*
Personally, I have never had issues firing up my bikes even if the last ride took place a month ago. And I always have the habit to fill up the tank full or 3/4. Reason being is that I just like to jump on the bike, fire it up and start rolling to my destination and do not want to worry about stopping for gas.

Unless you are going to be away for months, then it is best to disconnect the batteries.

Only time I had issues firing up the bike in early morning was with my Z1000, where I itchy backside went with a Power Commander and then things were behaving very consistent such like had to fire the bike couple of times, F1 light keeps coming out, quickshifter missing it shifts and etc etc. All this was sorted out easily after I revert to the workshop.

What's the effect of a leaking fork?

Lose damping ability. If I recall correctly, the rebound would be low.

Some of the harley guys are okay... but most of them are a nuisance...
*
Personally I have couple of friends riding barley sorry - meant Harley, as they have multiple bikes and having a barley again my bad, Harley is more like a cult status of having a bad boy bike. My take on the majority of the barley owners, crap I did it again - I meant Harley, are middle aged super well to do folks that is going through mid life crisis and living it like Wild Hogs thinking that riding a barley, damn! I meant to say Harley!!!! Gives them a bad boy image. Most obvious flaw I notice about this "punks" is that they do not know how to move or park their bikes. Imagine 200+kgs of metal and they still want to sit on the saddle and pedal the bike.

Ooo then how to maneuver the bike? Usually at that age they have something in between and their movement is restricted.
Something in the middle became bigger.
