Guys, just want to report that Aztech HL110EP(A) homeplug can work on carrying VLAN signal.
Now my ps3 and iptv can use the same homeplug. smile.gif

1st floor (router, NAS, PC) --- homeplug --- ground floor(IPTV-vlan600,PS3-vlan1)

You will need 2 unit of vlan capable switch.
One to combine the Vlan before sending it to homeplug.
Another one to split the vlan after it comes out from the homeplug.

This solution is more useful if you plan to have many devices beside your TV. (IPTV, PS3, XB360, media player)

http://www.tm.com.my/Documents/FAQ_UniFi_Credit_Limit.pdf

I think people with outstanding fees or have trouble to pay monthly bill will find it troublesome. But i think the credit limit for each package is a little bit low. What about customer that uses additional services (phone, HyppTV, VoD etc.)?

From feedback I got from some friends as well as some threads about it here:
1) Crappy Thomson router, even the crappy DIR-615 for TM is better.
2) Random disconnections
3) Recently, have this problem of your web access got redirected to MyLaunchPad page for unknown reasons.
4) Long wait for installation appointment
5) Private IP address, unless you specifically request for public IP with reasons.

IMHO, the low price offer by Maxis is a tactic to increase their subscriber base, and looks like they are quite successful in doing that at the time being.
Could you please list out the issues with Unifi?

I am really loving my Streamyx.
I am using a 4mb though at only RM88.
Got it under the UniPack promo back in September 2010.
But the contract will end on 16/09/12.

Now I need to either jump onto the Maxis Home or Unifi as if I want to enjoy a similar speed on Streamyx, I would need to spend >RM200! Which is crazy.
So I've decided on Maxis as it is much cheaper at RM118 compared to Unifi's VIP5 at RM150.

If Unifi VIP5 costs the same as Maxis 10mb, I would've taken Unifi hands down but
to save RM30 at twice the speed, it just seemed like a no brainer.
That's a huge saving!

However, I still don't mind paying the RM200 penalty for cancelling my subscription.
I've arranged for them to only fix Maxis early September so that I have enough time to monitor the situation at the Maxis thread

Singapore is small country and has different terrain than Malaysia. That's one of valid reason if we discount the usual politic talk. This is what my lecturer used to says, i don't know the detail.

It just natural if they want to have cap on the limit, for those who nvr pay their monthly fees. it happen to any other operator! let me know if any other operator dont have credit limit?

Received this in my mail.

More and more reason to throw Unifi in the garbage bin.

Going to unsubscribe before August 1st.

After reading some information from klseet n rizvanrp... decided to configure my DIR-615 C2 (not TM's 615) with dd-wrt firmware direct to the fibrehome

FYI, i already was using DD-WRT with my Streamxy previously, so it's a matter of changing the settings only
Remember this settings are for DIR-615 C1 or C2 only. Because REV.C uses the same DDWRT firmware despite the numbers. These are NOT for DIR-615 G1/G2 (TM's version)

I dont use IPTV yet so this solution will be alright for now... = )
Shall anyone attempt this pls do read everything on KLSEET and UNIFI ATHENA

Difference can be felt most when using wifi. It really outperforms the stock router many times especially in multiple user extra demanding situations. Not to mention there's no delay anymore when u type in www.xxxxxxx.com and hit enter.

I wasnt used to the stock router, whenever u hit the enter key or clicked a link, there will be some sort of small delay and the page loads in stages. Streaming's fine tho. With my old baby things just come in like poof nod.gif icon_rolleyes.gif

Not complaning tho, really no complaints on UniFi. It just so happens i have a better router than theirs. The installation was quick under 1 and 1/2hrs. Service was activated immediately n it was really no frills. Good job!
