even when the slider was there we needed to press the power button to wake up the phone anyway.
not much difference for me.

honestly speaking since the previous update the phone has been butter smooth. no issues with smoothness or anything.

Hi Droidtrix, try this.
previously my phone ran on default maxis internet settings and due to incorrect APN settings my phone struggles to find signal, and thus draining battery like crazy.
not sure if this would help but here is how you remove the proxy:

GO TO SETTINGS ---->
MOBILE NETWORK ----->
APN ----->
cLEAR THE PROXY (BLANK)

just connect it to your pc, install pc companion.
it will download and update the phone for you, just follow the instructions.

encounter one problem so far though: after screenshot, view and delete, when I get back to Album it is blank and the only option is to restart the phone and everything gets back to normal. for your album thingy, i believe the reason is because the storage information is not updated that's why it doesnt show. try an app called SDSYNC, which forces the phone to read your SDcard again.

for your game does not exit correctly, in future try to press back button until the app exits, or until a dialog asks you if you want to exit and press yes. pressing home button will cause the app to go into background, which would have problems with some apps as they are not optimized. if you have the kind of habit with pressing home button everytime, install a task killer that would let you kill specific app that's having problems.

should save you trouble of restarting more frequent than you need to =)

Hey nordingh i've had that previously, what you need to do is to drain the power completely, total reset the phone (power+volume up vibrate 3 times) then recharge the phone to full with normal charger.

last time i always charge with usb from battery or from PC, that happened after a while.

I havent done the change myself, but judging from fellow forumers who posted their experience, it's about 1 week they need to change the LCD.

I have some fantastic news about my phone.

1) it's a fantastic phone and after i fixed the network thing, i can typically last a full day until i sleep, with moderate usage. 4:30am-10pm
2) I changed to Momax i bought in pasar malam when i went taiwan, RM39. sexy.






3) I got yellow tint on my screen. shitz...~~

dear all.

i was a victim of an armed robbery on wednesday morning and have lost my precious xperia S.

although i have acquired a note 2 now to replace it but my xperia s still holds a special place in my heart.

there were 3 of us and we were robbed by 6 men on 2 bikes, who stopped us in the middle of the road while we were walking to our office.

anyone has an idea if it is possible to trace my phone by serial number ETC when it turns on? would be greatful if any knowledge could be helpful to catch these 6 bastards.

I'm not sure about the existing software, but the 360 monitoring system (China apps) can do that, not sure how it works coz I installed and uninstalled the apps within a week, didn't really learn how to use it...

Added on November 21, 2012, 1:00 pmJust came back from 8D7N Vietnam tour, XPS has been a great companion as camera and leisure, but I encountered few 'problems' about it:
1) The camera didn't work as impressively as I expected, even sometimes in broad daylight. Some turns out great after viewing from PC (looks darkish on the phone and looks sharp and bright on PC). The response time to run camera is fast though, love that!
2) Battery drains really fast, eventhough I only used it to read comic with screen brightness turned off. Stuck in a train sleeper coach with malfunction power socket supply was a living hell sleep.gif
3) roaming in Vietnam, and since first day arrived Malaysia, need to restart phone everytime I want to use mobile data

Besides the above, it serves me well

try to go to your APN settings, see if there's an IP set for proxy, remove it. it could fix your problem.

go to your APN settings, remove the field that says "proxy"

see if that helps.

initially when i first bought the phone, it was incredibly fast and reliable. somehow the later updates kinda killed the best feature on the phone. no idea what caused it.

how true.

felt it ever since the ICS update when i bought XPS, then the long wait. i saw the news and XPS not gonna get any updates until after April next year, which could mean any time AFTER April next year.

Just hope one day they learn that strong software support is a key element to their android phones.

yeah man. maybe this will be my last sony phones. been using all SE phones + one legendary nokia 3310 in my life. LOL. maybe i will get next asus or htc? hmm...but definitely not korean phones. samsung's display hurts my eyes with stupid over-saturated color they called color rich. my arse. the S3 camera snaps real bad pictures. I compared in SENQ side by side with my XPS, showed to my gf, she can straight away tell the PQ difference already.

I personally love taking pictures and everything. i took more than 4k pictures in 8 months before my phone was taken from me a month ago. while XPS lags the hardware specs all other flagship phones have, the quick snatch feature was the main reason i bought the phone. the phone took real quality picture in most conditions, in 1.5 seconds.

After the ICS update the feature itself is so broken. i mean, come on, Sony advertised the feature extensively in their ad campaign when the phone came out, with ICS in the works. they never said anything about no guarantee this feature would remain.

Honestly speaking i still miss my XPS even though it's been robbed and i have now got a painful note 2 in my hands. but regretfully speaking although note 2 does not take better pictures, it's less hassle taking pictures now.

Sony don't have to be superior in their software development or pioneer in Android adoption or whatever. just blardy make the releases work. if it's bugged, fix it, damn it.

When XPS was fresh out of the box, though was looking forward to ICS update, i really really miss how i felt when using it.

oh well.

if the theives or robbers are smart enough to turn off the phone immediately, and does not turn on until they wipe your phone there's nothing you could do about it.

The only thing you could do is to provide your IMEI to police and they have the rights to request telco providers to trace the IMEI# on the network if it's being used.

but i doubt our police is this efficient nor this willing to help. fact is i secured a weapon after the robbery and provided all info. to date i have not been contacted for any reason including providing a sketch of the face of the robbers. even though i came in close contact with them. the inspector in charge FFK us more than once already and have missed every single phone call we made to him regardless on work phone or M#. more than 20 attempts on different occasions.

So my best advise, protect your belongings and do not fall prey to these things. our police cant help us nor they care to help us.
