QUOTE(katmai81 @ Nov 19 2013, 11:11 PM) It does feels like driving manual transmission car....but its part and parcel of CVT i dont think its the cvt,Once you get the hang of it...u learn to play around with gas pedal to lessen the impact of jerkiness but actually the ima system.. the computer cant keep up with the human input |

QUOTE(geek8585 @ Nov 22 2013, 11:20 AM) i'm kinda make my mind to change from 1.8 to hybrid... but can all sifus help to answer few question in my mind as i find it really hard to find a test drive car for this civic hybrid. 1) you need not worry about wear and tear as hybrids operate at low temperatures and therefore will not affect or spoil the engine. Plus hond r&d would've don their research on this. Ima start stop has been around for many years, so far no such issues. 1) when in a congested traffic, i noticed that put the gear on S will stop the engine from Auto Stop. Is is true? I am kinda afraid the auto Start/Stop will shorten the engine life span due to wear and tear. 2) is there any button to stop the Auto Stop function? 3) how many gears the CVT gearbox has for this civic hybrid? 4) if let's say i am at traffic light, i switch my gear to N, pull hand brake, leg lift off from the brake pedal. Will the Auto Stop function works? and how about the Air Con? 5) is the white orchid pearl colour for civic hybrid is different with taffete white applied of other range of honda cars? I'm gonna take this colour if i choose hybrid over 1.8. 6) civic hybrid now comes with reverse camera and handsfree bluetooth? Hell i don't know about that ! Any sifus, big bro who able to answer my question will be much appreciated. Please provide me your precious input. Thanks. 2) no button for start stop 3) cvt has an infinite number of gear ratios. Unlike auto trans which have several specific ones. This helps with fuel efficiency. You won't feel gears changing 4) what do u mean by "work"? But if u release brake and shift to N, engine will restart 5) currently in honda Malaysia, orchid White is only offered to the civic hybrid 6) yes Bluetooth but I can't confirm the reverse cam |

QUOTE(geek8585 @ Nov 22 2013, 01:21 PM) bro really thanks a lot for your reply... sure happy to help for Q1, i do heard that when switch to S mode, the engine wont auto stop anymore.. my concern not only wear and tear of the car engine, but the slightly vibrating of cabin when the engine restart... it do happen on a merz c200 (don't bash me out of topic, but just sharing what i experience) as for Q4, meaning to say in order for the engine auto stop at traffic light, my leg cannot have a rest by releasing the pedal? in short, the auto stop will only reading the brake pedal signal and not the gear, right |

QUOTE(geek8585 @ Nov 22 2013, 02:11 PM) well... i don't think the car will be underpower as it generate the torque which equivalent to 1.8s based on the fact sheel... guess will just off econ button... hahaha the torque is better than a 1.8, because since half of the torque is provided by the ima system, you will get immediate power and thus great for climbing.hey bro, many thanks... will go for civic hybrid soon... gonna ask is it the metallic grey available for the hybrid... |

QUOTE(jeffpwhoong @ Feb 11 2014, 11:43 AM) I js had my car service fir 10k km.. change 5w40.. red colour package after conviced by the person.. so far i din notice any difference in terms of power.. bt thr fc drop quite significant.. last time i used to hav 17 to 18 kml for city drive.. nw i cn only get abt 15 to 16 kml wif control of my right foot.. i use red one 5w40, honestly no big diff. but in the long run your engine will be well in shappe.. you get what you pay for thats all..Considering to change to the 0w20 for my nx service.. my purpose to buy hybrid is to save petrol ma.. and ps took my car from kl to melaka.. long distance the cvt groan is damn annoying.. but if u gently accelarate to speeds of 120-140 and generally maintain it will be quite a smooth ride.. but then again i floored it most of the time and can feel the tiny 1.5 engine struggling to keep up with my driving style. overall a good long distance ride if you dont excessively speed. otherwise... |

it doesnt have to do much with what lubrication your engine is fitted with. the most important factor in acquiring amazing numbers in terms of fc is still how well you control your right foot. i can get 21km/l no prob if i keep the speedo green even with 5w40. yes if you use the 0w20 getting those 20-21 figures are easier but your engine is not at its optimum performance and it wont be good to acc hard while using low vososity oils such as 0w20 as the wear and tear are greater. im an engineer and these are just my two cents. go for the premium oil and you will have a healthier engine for a longer duration.

QUOTE(jeffpwhoong @ Feb 12 2014, 03:52 PM) Ya, i cn hear the roar too.. of course, thats due to the fact that we have an integrated system between the engine and the battery powered part of it. so having a cvt in most hybrids isnt just due to the fact that it increases fuel efficienct by having the possibility to maintain at any or optimum revs. infinite gear ratio. a cvt is able to most effectively transmit these two types of output and combine them. Btw, do u feel jerky (feels like the car shift the gear ratio up n down for few times) when u hav abt 1/4 o half throttle? the jerky feelin you feel is felt because the computer is trying to dictate which power to optimize at that particular time hence the jerk. eg. -from the instant you release the gas pedal computer switches to charging hence (jerk) -from low speed acc.. (jerk) -the amount of brake applied (jerk) because its a honda. we dont get the luxury of more premium hybrids such as the most common a6hybrid that fully isolates and drown out this jerky effect as if it is a normal petrol vehicle. |
