Just give the Essential card to me.

Joking aside, does anyone else have difficulty to get approved for a HL credit card? I got rejected twice, the first one for Wise (thankfully this happened after Wise was changed back in October, so I was hoping it got rejected) and the second one for Essential. They seem to be much stricter. After applying online, I got a call from them to verify that I'm the one that filled the form. And then an hour or so later, I got another call from a different person to verify that I got a call from HL (she asked me for the name of the person that called me earlier). Then they called my office number. But after all that, I still got rejected. Last time I checked, my CTOS credit score is quite high (I pay my credit cards in full every month), so I was hoping for it to get approved. I need an Essential to get cashback from insurance payment.

In contrast, I applied for Maybank Ikhwan Visa Petronas card online (after I got rejected from HL), and it got approved after a few days without me getting any calls from Maybank. Same thing happened with CIMB previously: my application for CIMB CR got approved within days. Is it because I have savings accounts on Maybank and CIMB, or are they simply less stricter than HL?

Any tips on how to get my application approved? Can I appeal directly with HL (I did this with Maybank)?

Maybe because I applied for many cards at once? I applied for SC JustOne, New AEON Gold, Citibank Cashback Platinum, HL Mach, and HL Essential on June – July. SC JustOne got approved, but the HL cards were rejected 2 days after I applied. The others are still pending.
Other than that, I can't think of a reason. I have no outstanding debts, and I pay all my credit card balance in full every month. Last time I checked, my CCRIS is full of zeros.
