Guys,

I have booked Mamatour for tour to Amphawa & Train Market. They will pick us up from hotel at 12:30pm.

Q) Will we have sufficient time to visit Grand Palace, Wat Pho and Wat Arun in the morning? How long does it usually takes to visit these three places? Plan to kick off at 7:30am. Hope can make it back to hotel at 12pm?

Q) 1 day is allocate for shopping. Wonder if i have the route plan correctly as follow?
Pratunam Market -> Platinum Fashion Mall -> Central World/ Erawan Shine -> Big C -> Siam Paragon -> MBK?

Thanks.

P/S: Staying at 93 hotel.

Mam Tours still exist? I sent them multiple emails but didn't receive any replies at all.
Do you mind sharing how did you book them?
Thanks!

Got the info from @shinchan99

I contacted them through email (mamatour1 at hotmail dot com).

Oh Cool~

Initially plan to book budacco, but the price seem high probably due to songkran. So, change to 93 hotel.

Provide some feedback after your trip. Thanks!

May I ask Platinum Mall & Central World Plaza not walking distance?? I'm going to Bangkok next month & plan to go both Platinum Mall & CWP. We booked our hotel at First Hotel near Pratunam area.
*
I believe it is within walking distance of 10mins or so. Some prefer to take cab due to hot weather or other reason.

I'M BACK FROM BANGKOK!
Hotel 93 review:-
You need to take the escalator to reach the Lobby
It has G-4th floor, the 5th floor room need to take the stairs from 4th floor
G Floor is a mini mall.

Overall the Hotel is new and clean, satisfy with it.
Bathroom is nice, no bathtub ya.
Didn't try their breakfast coz im having HANG OVER everyday at bangkok, LOL!
But according my friend the breakfast is So-So typical breakfast

From hotel entrance, u can get cab (but i use cab at night only for clubbing), but location wise to shopping area is nice

During day time, from hotel entrance get down, turn left, walk straight until the end and turn right, walk straight and u will see Platinum Mall
U will passby a lorong whereby a lot of ppl walking there (HUMAN JAM)

When u reach the main road, turn right, and u will see the pedestrian bridge to cross to Platinum Mall.

In case if u take cab, the taxi driver don't know where is Hotel 93, just tell them Baiyoke Sky, coz it's more famous.
From there u lead them, or drop at Baiyoke Sky and walk back, it's so near.

I MISS BANGKOK!!!
*
Thanks for your review on 93 Hotel and direction to Platinum Mall.

Yeap visit the toilets at all the floors over there.
For me I nominate ROME as the best toilet there, because of the sink to wash hand is so special.

You can shop and have your dinner at Asiatique too smile.gif
Anyway the ferris wheel price:-
Tourist price 250 baht
Local Thai 200 baht
*
MK restaurant? But i will mostly travel there after my visit to chocolate ville (dinner). Perhaps will take some snacks there? Any recommendation?

Duration of the wheel? 30mins?

Thanks.

Returned from 5D4N trips in Bangkok.

Day 1:
- Arrived at ard 4pm+, take a taxi directly to The 93 Hotel following the step by step method posted by member here
- Check in at about 5pm+ as the taxi driver bring us to pump gas, turn a big round in the city, searching for the hotel despite we told him that the hotel is just near to Baiyoke Sky. Also, he asks from us 350B, But we refrained from giving it to him. Meter charges are 195b + 50b surcharge + 35b toll fees. I got no smaller notes, so i give him 300B.
- Take a short rest, travel to Chocolate Ville (the journey takes about an hour from 93 hotel) - Taxi charged 400B. None willing to use meter, so we just comply as we have make a reservation there.
- Dinning in the park. Good ambience, good for camwhoring. Recommended!
- Return to hotel (taxi charged 500b). Hard to catch a taxi there.

Day 2:
- Visit Pratunam Market + Platinum Mall (girls/women can really shop whole day at Platinum Mall)
- tried samurai pork burger (nothing to shout about, i prefer samurai beef burger here) + Grilled curry chicken rice (recommended) @ McD
- ard 12pm, back to hotel. Mamatour fetches us up at 12:30pm sharp to visit Makleong Train Market + Amphawa Floating Market <- good and eye opening experience
** detail itinerary as follow:

» Click to show Spoiler - click again to hide... «

Day 3:
- Visit Grand Palace (take almost half day there) - full of tourists, mainly from mainland China
- follow by Wat Pho (take about 1 1/2hr there, follow by 30m massage) <- massage in Wat Pho is pricey compare to outside
** will post the photo of the pricing this weekend
- Hot weather, decided to give up Wat Arun. So, we travel to Terminal 21 directly
- in Terminal 21, there is a huge food court name PIER on the 5th level (to purchase the top -up card from the counter)
- must visit the travel of each level. Well decorated!
- nothing much to shop there.
- Ard 6pm+, take taxi back hotel, rest, then shop around pratunam market. Tried the street food. Pad Thai with Seafood + Grilled Pork & Chicken Satay + Fried mussels with egg + Singha beer

Day 4:
- shop from Pratunam Market to Platinum Mall to Central World to Big C
- Central world - Naraya (girls/women will go crazy there). Only this shop is full of people.
- tried Zen Restaurant (not bad)
- Tried MK Restaurant (food is nice) <- MK restaurant can be found in most areas
- Tried the food court food in Central World

Day 5:
- last round of shopping at pratunam market
- to DMK airport. Last round of shopping at Naraya again.

Thats all. Anything, please ask. I'm more than willing to share. Take a lot of photos there.

hey bro, can you roughly explain how you go to Grand Palace from 93 hotel? interested to know more as I am planning to go Grand Palace > Wat Pho> Wat Arun..and the ticket price also..Thanks in advanced
*
I catch a taxi infront of 93 hotel (a few taxi quoted me 350b, none of them willing to use meter. Only manage to catch one by paying 200b after half an hr). None of them willing to go by meter.

**the taxi driver is a nice guy despite he is quoted us 200b rather than using meter. He warned us that there are a lot of scams outside Grand Palace. Just walk straight to entrance, and ignore all of them.

Entrance fee to Grand Palace is 500b (usually is 400b, im not sure), But the day i visit (sunday), the fee is 500b.

Entrance fee to Wat Pho is 100b. Wat Pho is just right behind of Grand Palace. Do ask the security for direction, they are all very friendly.

I took half an hour foot massage at Wat Pho for 260b (outside normally costs 200b/hr).

To add on:

The bell boys at 93 hotel are all very friendly. Explain to us the details when we enter the room, help us with the luggage when we check up. Even, assist us to catch a taxi using meter for a reasonable price where most of the taxis quoted 400-500b, explaining to us that we need to pay 60b toll fee for using highway. In the end, we only pay 220b in total to reach DMK airport from 93 hotel.

Hey bro, thanks for the details explanation. Since it so hard to find taxi which willing to use meter, I might take BTS + boat to the Grand Palace, will need to do more research first. Its good to know that the bell boys there are friendly, will ask for help when I going back to airport that time. By the way, are you using Don Mueang Airport? If yes, can you roughly explain how to take taxi at the airport to the 93 Hotel? As I never been to this airport before. Will it easy to find the taxi using meter at there?Any sign board lead you to the taxi area? by the way, I already got the map and address(in Thai) of the 93 Hotel from their website, so I assume just let them see and they will roughly know rite?
*
Yes. Don Mueang Airport.

Follow the steps as follow to get to meter taxi stance. *Credit to @atah Post#992

Your trip sounds interesting & lots of shopping. I'm going on mid May too. Appreciate it if you can clarify some of my queries.

1. You contact Mama Tour early in Malaysia or contact them when you arrived in BKK? Do you pay in their Khaosan road shop first or pay only when they fetch you up at the hotel? After the tour, MamaTour sent you back to hotel or Khaosan road? Can ask them to drop at the nearest skytrain station or express boat pier?

2. I plan to visit pratunam market & Platinum Mall as early as possible. When are they open? Pratunam market minimum must buy 3 to get wholesale price?

3. Plan to have steamboat buffet at MK Restaurant too. Is there a set buffet @ about THB 300?

Quite worried after hearing you said metered taxi is very hard to find.

Thanks.
*
1. Before. As stated in email, i must pay the taxi driver when they pick us up. But, i didn't. I only pay when the taxi driver requested from me when we arrived at Amphawa. And, he sent us back to hotel. Yes, you can arrange to have him drop you elsewhere (not sure whether the taxi driver will charge or not).

2. Pratunam market open as early as 4am i think. At least, thats the information i got from the stall people there. Bear in mind, Pratunam market is a whole stretch of area consists of hawker, stall, shophouses, etc.

Platinum mall open at 10am (thailand time). But, some shops open before that. You can visit there 9:30am i think. I witnessed the mall management that photos of shop that not open at 10am. So, i believe it is compulsory for them to open at 10am or before.

3. Not aware of the buffet menu. We ordered ala carte. Recommend roasted duck there!

Sharing my taxi experience there:

1)

to chocolate ville
- get a taxi that quote us 400b to bring us there. He didn't use the highway, then we started to mumbling there. Then only he says traffic jam, use highway. We say ok. He expects us to pay for the toll but we rejected. We say the price of 400b shall have the toll included. Then he was not happy, then drive very slow. Also, he doesnt know the exact location. At least, he keep calling chocolate ville to get the direction right.

back from chocolate ville
- hardly catch a taxi at that area. But, there are a few taxi waiting there. Their price range 400b-600b to return to 93 hotel.
- opt for the 1 with lowest price (400b)
- show him the map to 93 hotel. he says he know where is it. Ended up, he brought us to the 93 building of which is totally another place at all. Then shows him the map again, then he says its quite far from here. We just keep quiet. Then at the toll there. He requested to add 100b more. Since that he is paying for the toll twice, we agreed to settle at 500b.

2) taxi from 93 hotel to Grand Palace
- first three taxi dont want to use meter, and quoted 300-350b.
- 4th taxi agree to use meter. So we hop on, then he show us the coupon saying that 1 stop claiming that grand palace open at 11am. we keep argue with him that we do our research and shows that it opens at 8:30. then he starts giving a lot of excuses and so on and so forth. We just get out.
- 5th taxi also dont want to use meter, but quoted 200b. So we opt for his service. He shared with us on the scam outside of grand palace. Advice us just walk away and ignore these guys.

3) taxi from wat arun to terminal 21
- few taxi that we ask dont want to use meter, quoted 400b to terminal 21. saying that its far.
- managed to get a taxi for 300b. When we hop onto the taxi, he said 300b per pax. We reject. We wanna get off. He said 500, 400, 350... we just ignore. We are firm that we will pay 300b if not, let us off. Then he quiet quiet just bring us there.

4) Terminal 21 to 93 hotel
- easily catch taxi at the entrance. Security will assist us with the location. All meter taxi. 73b from terminal 21 to 93 hotel. I just give the guy 100b.

5) wanna try taking tuk tuk to central world from 93 hotel.
- quoted 30b. Then we are on the tuk tuk, say 1 stop. we denied. Argue for a while. He is not letting us off. Then we was like asking for the pedestrians for assitance, only he stop and let us off.
- actually, it is within walking distance to central world. But, we wanna get a feel of tuk tuk.

*Know your right. Just get off if the taxi/tuk tuk say 1 stop when u are in the car or tuk tuk.
**Meter taxi is damn cheap if you manage to get one.

I didn't face any problems getting metered cab during my trip earlier this year. The trick is to avoid taxis waiting in front of hotels or shopping malls or tourist spots. Just walk further away and flag down a passing taxi. I didn't even have to ask them whether they use meter or not. They automatically reset the meter. The only waiting taxi I used was the metered taxi service from DMK airport.
*
Well.. maybe i am unlucky...

Like Terminal 21, you don't have to worry bout the waiting taxi at entrance as the security will assist you on that... Its depends on the locations/timing/etc...

Seriously doubt if there taxi driver willing to go for meter to Chocolate ville.

Anyway, just sharing my taxi experience there...
