Walked right through ... from terminal 21 to citibank ... but obviously the roads are blocked la ..  people taking selfies .. camping .. lol ... seriously if there's no news .. it really feels like a huge concert only ...
Why u wanna take taxi to pratunam ? BTS to chid lom then walk over la ... this i not sure but my colleague went pratunam last week without problem ... today onwards I'm not sure ..

State of emergency gives more power for Army to control protesters. Tourist can still do their shopping/dining laugh.gif Thai people sure have a way with protest, dancing, snacking, enjoying concerts....a cheerful bunch of nice people. Their protest is so different from other countries, more like a big fun gathering. Lol

I just canceled my hotel booking (Manhattan Hotel) which is near Terminal 21, Sukhumvit Road just in case AirAsia cancel flight during last minute.

At the same time I was browsing thro' Booking.com again & realize that I should be staying near The Platinum Fashion Mall & Panthip Plaza IT Mall area. Any recommendation of hotels in that area? What about the demonstration .... is this area affected? Should AirAsia go-ahead with the flight schedule then most likely I will book hotel at this area.

Novotel Platinum Bangkok Hotel, just above Platinum Mall.

Hey guys! Bought my flight to Bangkok for RM171 return during the promo period last month..quite lucky to get cheap flight.. Traveling in Oct, i reckon it should be safe at that time? Any advise?
I'm planning to book Pratunam Pavilion Hotel, has anyone stayed here before? Any comments?
I will be traveling with my sister, both girls..will this hotel area be safe for us to walk back and forth esp after dark?
*
No one can can't foresee what will happen tomorrow let alone predict the situation in October, that's 5 months away, anything can happen.
Pavilion Pratunam seems not bad, outside looks nice and new. I only happened to passed by while walking the night market there. You may face difficulty finding it as it was located in a small alley, better print a map for taxi driver.

recently i went to bkk too. taking malindo, 3 days after their first flight to bkk from kl

flight delay departure for 30mins++, then when arriving bkk, due to traffic the plane fly fly fly above bangkok, fly sini fly sana, turn left turn right macam give us free tour of bkk city

my question is, usually if they waiting to land due to airport traffic, they will be flying at a much higher attitude right? ini kali dia fly quite low so we can see the city clearly....
*
Most likely Malindo missed it's planned schedule due to initial delays thus have to circle in the sky waiting for next slot. As for flying low, I can only assume there's several other planes above therefore must keep a safe distance.

Those going Bangkok please follow Bangkok Post closely. It seems protester have blocked certain toll near Don Mueang airport resulting to tourist lugging their luggage through highway in order to reach their flight.

Those facing road block were warn not to remove cone or barrier.

I've travelled to numerous countries including east Africa, Thailand is still my all time favorite destination when comes to shopping, food, clubbing, beaches and relaxation/massage. What makes it so attractive is the currency conversion rates and friendly locals.

Just keep yourself updates via news or this forum. I will plan another trip soon after the toll blockage drama is over.

totally agree. thailand is always in my TO GO BACK LIST after countless visits there. besides the currency, we are always felt, see u again, welcome u back!!!.

unlike, kl, one will feel, i potong u kau kau one time when i got the chance cos i don't expect you to come back anyway shocking.gif says mr. taxi driver

Bangkok's resident still nice and friendly but Phuket have gotten worse due to tourism, I've witness ang mo almost got into a fight with one waiter in a restaurant due to his attitude. I no longer visit Phuket as it has turned into a zoo, flooded with rowdy Russians, drunkards, prostitutes.....the place has lose it's charm.

Hopefully Bangkok can retain its beauty forever. blush.gif

just came back from bangkok yesterday. the traffic was not so bad. i reach on saturday the main highway were really jam but the taxi driver know some small road to avoid the jam cost me 450baht to reach mbk from airport. during my stay i didnt see any protest maybe they didnt protest at tourist area. so bangkok are still safe.
*
Thanks for the heads up. Protest usually congregate at certain location, shopping and business as usual for places not affected as these people still need to make a living. Your flight back is from Don Meuang airport? Is there any block at the toll by red shirt as reported?

With the curfew, it's no longer feasible to make trips to Thailand. Those planning a holiday please put your plans on hold while those heading there soon perhaps consider change of date.

Don't think anyone here will have the answer. If it last for months, those running nite biz will be in deep trouble.

I don't think curfew will last more than a month because the country economy is at stake. Just my own prediction.

You may end up in jail, don't fool around once curfew set in, they set the rules for a reason.

Still safe to go because all protest activities have stopped and everyone have to stay indoor by 10p.m. My friends in BKK have to resort to house party as pubs and clubs all closed.

Hi all..
Saying hi from Bangkok....
Arrives here yesterday night...
Well about the curfew i think it doesn't cause that much problems as we thought...
Most of the shopping malls, 7eleven and even MRT&BTS did closed earlier compared to normal days...
But not for some of the night life...
I reacher my hotel around 9.30PM and rushed to have dinner...
Quite shocked that most of the shops and stalls still opening after 10PM (those pasar malam stalls of course)...
Still the road is busy and I didn't see any army forces around the hotel i stay( Chada Hotel)...
The curfew does cause some inconinience but I think it's still safe to travel to Bangkok...
Just wake up earlier if you plan to go shopping...
Peace out...
