wah, 165km/h for wira 1.5 with automatic gear box is fantastic... Specification only says 155km/h

it depends on which batch. if not mistaken the latest wira aeroback has a 4 speed auto so its possible. i had an old wira 1.5 auto to. it was a carb engine and hell its sucks twice the petrol compared to my old nissan blue bird 2.0 on a single journey from KL to Ipoh.

The car is nice to mod but on the long run, it's a nightmare. i hate the 3 speed auto transmission. yes, it's good around city drives but when you're travelling at high speed. the scream of the engine makes your deaf. not to mention there was once i over heated the whole engine when i strike 140 km for more than 20 minutes. reving i think almost reaching 6 rpm. have to stop and cool down the car at the petrol station. wasted the time on the journey. personally if you want to get such car, get a manual. they have least such problem.

another thing i notice that the bonet tends to rust upon time. proton has come up with a niffty anti rust feature. yes, it won't rust for the first 5 years, but after that it will. compared to foreign cars. malaysian manufactures like to coat the cars with thick layers of coating. this means no means of water sipping through the layers of metal turning it to rust. but after years of weatering, coats of paint will eventually lose to weathering. and water sipped into the metals will be trapped by the think coatings. thus result in ugly humps.

its not like i like to condemn on local manufaturers. personally i love their human interaction design ( controls, sterring and dashboard design) but there are lots of room for development esp on safety and reliablity of the machine.

Local cars are good esp they are cheap in replacement parts

fully synthetic cost more than 100 bucks la. its good on the engine. i say you better check on your timings, if not consider doing an overhaul on the engine.

My current wira will be the only proton I will ever get. This car sucks big time. Everything in it sounded loose even on the first day that I got it. Dashboard also vibrate, front shocks also got creaking sound, weird noises from the engine and all. Cannot be fixed or corrected no matter which mechanic you bring to. Fuel consumption is shit. Throttle body giving way after 3 years of service. Don't even start mentioning about the fuel consumption. Protons are useless!!!!!!!

Added on May 11, 2007, 3:09 pm

Wira 1.5(A) fuel injections all the same la. I pump in RM75, can only hit max 350kms only. And my wheels are only 14". Don't waste time sending it to mechanics and decarbonize or re-tune, or check whatever sensors or whatever la. I can confirm with you that it is all useless coz I have tried it all before. Want a more fuel economy car, I suggest you sell off your wira.

actually there is something to do with the way you drive and the transmission ration involve. if you drive with a light foot. that should increase the fuel consumption a bit. in addition. our poor wira up until wise is still using the lousy 3 speed. thats why there is a difference. at top gear, 3k rpm is less than 100kph for 1.5(A) while other cars are around 110-135kph. this clearly shows that the engine is reving more while covering less distance at similar rpm. solution wise? change to a manual or a 4 speed auto

Previously I have the same problems as yours.

But once I replaced my exhuast system + piping , the problem solved.

As I know, the stock exhaust is bigger below, hence, when you go through those bumpers,it will hit it. I replaced it with stainless steel piping + straight flow muffler which is more compact. The mechanic installed it high up to the available spaces. Therefore won't hit the bumpers again happy.gif

same problem and same rectification work applied. in the end, my dad also changed the whole exhaust system. now can park in the car porch without scraping the pavement upon entry.

in addition, i would like to know if those OEM gas jack or hydraulic jack used for the boots which claims that can open the boot upon opening the lock

air suspension mmg comfortable la. since they are soft but handling sucks. the best is citroen's suspension, got fish tank water. was rated one of the best yet and they used it to catch live video shoots on horse race
