ECN and PWR mode? Makes any different? I dun feel any and i always use ECN mode.

From what i understand and experienced, the PWR (Power) mode changes gear at higher RPM (and usually wont change to the top gear at all) - so you have more power and faster acceleration. Also the gearbox downshifts quicker when you slowed down

Whereas the ECN (Economy) mode will change gears as normal, using the most fuel efficent setup as possible, and often it wouldnt really downshift to the lower gear unless its really slow.

Hello guys smile.gif Wira 1.3 Carb (1996 tongue.gif) user here

Just wondering.

1) How much does it take for a shop to install car alarm? I have the alarm unit with me, just need it installed.

2) Can I ask an accessory shop to fix my dashboard? I just got another dashboard, and wanted to change mine. How much would it take?

Lastly,

3) Could you recommend any reliable shop to carry these works in Sunway/Puchong area. I frequent Sunway, but there's so many shops there I don't know where to start.

when u buy it, u din ask recommand workshop from them?

Actually they did offer installation, I'm just asking for second opinion. They quote RM230 for installation (meter wiring, digital aircond, dashboard). Is that reasonable?

By the way, I've been wondering what is this:
user posted image

The pipe that connects between the exhaust part and the air intake part. I'm always confused about what is this. I asked a few servicemen and they say "it's nothing". Can anyone help me explain what is that part?

Edit : oh, that's a 1.3M carb wira engine that is due to be cleaned. I'm always postponing the cleaning x.x

oh so that's what the hose is for. Thanks for explaining, I got a little worried when i saw mine cracked, i keep asking my servicemen but he always say "nothing one lar"... looks like he either stingy on knowledge or hes just don't know what is it for.

Anyone know where can I get my engine cleaned? I wanted to wash it but i'm worried ill flush unnecessary components with water

1.3 on a wira is underpowered. Get a 1.6 or a 1.5 at LEAST!! But if you worry about FC and dun mind driving a bit slower than the other guys...then its ok.
For 1.3, you'll suffer on uphills and when you have a lot of passengers tongue.gif
However, when using it for long trips like going back hometown...I could go 140 with no problem hmm.gif

I agree on the underpowered part. My comparison with a colleague between my wira 1.3 M and his 1.5M shows that he actually saves fuel because of his power/torque. My journey everyday involves a few slopes that forces me to shiftdown to a real low gear in order to get the car moving, while he can just zoom in with a higher gear.

I'm thinking of upgrading the engine to at least 4G15 or 4G91 soon, since that's the only cheapest way to go (rather than fiddling with lots of things that cost you a lot but only can achieve so much)

yes, I heard a lot of people were doing this....buy underpowered car and change the engine. All they needed was the body anyway tongue.gif
*
But there's one drawback on this - the low-powered engine car chassis are usually are not that strong to withstand the bigger engine. I guess those who did this better not to aim for very high if they value their lives smile.gif

Just wondering, would it be expensive to fit in a SRS Airbag into a non-SRS equipped wira? How about ABS?

Question, even if the wira is 1.3 or 1.5 only, but if we fix a rear disc brake, it will improve on the handling anyways right?

A relay is an electronic switch, where the switch is turned on and off by means of electric current. It is usually square, black in color with at least four legs biggrin.gif And they usually make some kind of clicking sound (not really audible sometimes) when they operate
