1. Preferred Brand - Anything, but no HP/Compaq. Also, no Acer, Toshiba.
2. Budget - Less than RM2K
3. Usage - Mostly office work, some gaming (GTA IV, and future GTA brows.gif )
4. Preferred laptop/screen size - Nothing less than 14"

Also, i'm very particular about the cooling. I think dell/lenovo has decent cooling. Also, how does the 7670M fare against the GT640/650M?

And if I may add, more USB ports are necessary. Bundled Windows is a bonus. HDD should not be less than 500GB. RAM should be nothing less than 4GB. No ultrathin notebooks pls. Warranty may not be an issue, but I might want to avoid asus for that matter. HP (from my experience) seems to have a lot of failure ( motherboard, HDD etc).

So, what would suit me? flex.gif

Which leaves you with only these laugh.gif
14"
Dell
Inspiron 14R, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM1999[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(5400rpm)
Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2199[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm); backlit keyboard optional

Lenovo Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM2299, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm)

Try to go for the 14R SE if possible
GPU-wise: Nvidia GT640M > GT630M = AMD HD7670M

No chance for the Radeon 7670M?

Is it better or worse?

EDIT: Found a Inspiron 15R for RM1999.

3rd Generation Intel® Core™ i5-3210M processor (3M Cache, up to 3.1 GHz)
4GB 1 DIMM (4GB x1) DDR3 1600Mhz
500GB 5400RPM SATA Hard Drive
AMD Radeon™ HD 7670M DDR3 1GB

I've already written in the previous post, Nvidia GT630M is similar as AMD HD7670M in terms of performance...
But Nvidia offers better driver support  hmm.gif

Paiseh, too tired after work rclxub.gif

For that budget, maybe I'll squeeze out to the Inspiron 14R.

NVIDIA GeForce GT 640M DDR3 2GB brows.gif

Should still be within my budget.. hmm.gif

Yup, after discount should be quite close to RM2k I guess brows.gif
GT640M is a very powerful GPU, not to be trifled with  thumbup.gif

Darn 14R-SE cant change OS to W7Pro doh.gif

hmm.gif

After some deep thoughts, I need W7Pro. (work related lol)

So 95% chances I'll end up with a Inspiron 15R. With the Radeon 7670M (been having great luck thus far with ATI. whistling.gif )

Final price is RM2182. Added media kit.

Try and see whether the discount coupons in the previous page work or not icon_rolleyes.gif
Or you can PM putochip123 and see whether he can do anything about installing W7Pro on the 14R SE brows.gif

What do you mean? hmm.gif
You can also bargain with online Sales agents for cheaper price, regardless of which Dell laptop you are buying..

Alternatively, you can deal with viper88 too

Online chatting now brows.gif

Anyhow, I'll see what I'll end up with. Kinda urgent, and hopefully can get within this week itself.

My trusty MSI died after 4 years sad.gif

Ordered a Dell Inspiron 14R SE. Added media kit, 2 year warranty. Got a Belkin bag for 50% off.

Thanks!
