1. Preferred Brand: Anything (No Apple's plz.. Pears allowed tongue.gif)
2. Budget: <RM3500
3. Usage: Gaming (Guild Wars 2, Dragon Nest, Battlefield 3, Skyrim, CoD etc...)
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 14"/15"

I'm currently eyeing on lenovo y580.. FHD not really a problem for me because you can always get an external monitor biggrin.gif Besides, fps rate is higher with lower resolution right? ^.^... I'm looking for a desktop replacement-like laptop so I don't mind it being freakishly huge and heavy. I would prefer to go for a desktop, but my current lifestyle wouldn't allow a desktop in it tongue.gif... So, any recommendations? Or I should just go for the lenovo y580? biggrin.gif

While I'm at it, if I have an external monitor with 22"+ The resolution would follow the external monitor or it would stay as the laptops resolution? I'm kind of blurred here... Is the resolution stuck on the laptop screen, thus having an external monitor would change that?

They say the higher resolution, the lower your fps in games.
If you use an external monitor, does that still apply?

Beside y580, should consider:  hmm.gif
15.6"
Asus N56VZ-S4079V, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M + (1920 x 1080) + BluRay@RM3599[Bang&Olufsen], 4GB, 1TB, W7HP, subwoofer and backpack
Dell Inspiron 15R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + AMD HD7730M + (1920x1080; anti-glare) + 32GB SSD + 1TB HDD(5400rpm)@RM3199, 8GB,backlit keyboard optional

Bold part: Yes, but u can always optionally set to a lower res. No harm getting fullHD. If games u running capable to run at higher FPS with fullHD, why not?  sweat.gif

FYI, on game and monitor itself u can always choose and set ur own preferences resolution from lowest until highest.  icon_rolleyes.gif

I'm thinking of getting a 22" FullHD external monitor (Can connect to ps3 oso, woohoo)
Well, I think I'll just get the y580 without fullHD, it doesn't really bother me. Even though it's a laptop, I never actually brought my current laptop out to anywhere besides my room.. Haha...

Are you buying in a hurry? laugh.gif
If not, perhaps you might wanna wait for the rumoured-to-come FullHD version of teh Y580 which is said to be around RM3.6k...

If you're buying in a hurry, and you want to get an external monitor (which will of course cost you quite a bit as well), why not just get a gaming laptop at RM4k- Asus G55 or MSI GE60- these two come in FullHD and GTX660m too brows.gif
And yes, the higher the resolution, the weaker the performance because the GPU will be more stressed in "handling" more pixels, applicable to any external monitor that has a resolution higher than 1366x768 haha laugh.gif

Haha, thx for the info. I'm not really in a hurry, but since I never really cared about resolution before, I really don't mind having a laptop with 1366x768 (actually this is my current laptop resolution on 14" though). As long as I can get a nice gaming laptop before 25/8 (Guild Wars 2) tongue.gif

I don't think I can go for the fullhd because it is totally out of my budget.. My original budget was planned for a lenovo y480. Wanted to buy the lenovo y580 because the price for an upgraded y480 is the same as the y580 with same specs as the upgraded y480 but with a bigger screen + bigger hdd + slightly better gpu.. So might as well buy the y580.. ;3.. While the external monitor is something I would like to buy during November/December...
