1. Preferred Brand: ASUS, HP or Lenovo
2. Budget: <RM2000
3. Usage: Medium gaming, multitasking, video and images editing as well as light usage like programming and assignments.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size: 13" or 14". Prefer 4GB RAM with at least 500GB HDD. Extra RM100 to RM200 from original budget won't hurt, but the lesser the better. Thinking of getting ASUS or HP since both has good reviews but not sure which one is better. Also, hope for less overheating problem since old laptop has trouble with it. Thanks in advance!
*
These would be good:
14"
Asus A43Sm-VX102v, i5-2450M + Nvidia GT630M@RM2099[2.4kg], 2GB, 500GB (5400rpm) *this one is relatively old in terms of technology

HP Pavilion G4-2006/2007/2008TX, i5-3210M + AMD HD7670M@RM2199[2.19kg], 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm), W7HP

Lenovo Z480, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM2299, 4GB, 750GB(5400rpm)

Can consider this one too, the GPU is a lot better than the ones above:
Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i5-3210M + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2199[2.38kg], 4GB, 500GB(7200rpm); backlit keyboard optional

Aiya.. so in ur opinion, which one nicer? ><

I can't really comment since its a very tough question haha
But its surely in between Asus, HP and Lenovo...
The Asus and HP is quite good in terms of design.. but the Lenovo offers a more ergonomic keyboard hmm.gif

As mentioned, don't just choose merely based on the brand.. sometimes you need to test out the real thing.. it'll help you decide better nod.gif

QUOTE(ranytan @ Jul 14 2012, 12:18 AM)
Now at the point of buying I am in doubt again...

A: M5-481TG-53316G12, i5-3317U + Nvidia GT640M LE (28nm Kepler) + 128GB SSD@RM2899[1.85kg], 6GB, W7HP
B: N56Vz-S3088V, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT650M@RM2699[Bang&Olufsen], 4GB, 750GB, W7HP, subwoofer and backpack

What is the cost of adding 120GB SSD to N56Vz?

Help~
*
A 120GB will set you back by around RM400 or so iinm (not very familiar with SSD prices tongue.gif)
If portability is not a must, then the N56 would be the better pick as yon always upgrade your HDD later on... CPU and GPU are usually not so easy, if not impossible to upgrade sad.gif

Can consider those with i5-3210M:
14" (Prices are in RRP, can bargain around RM100 off if you're good brows.gif)
Acer V3-471G-53212G50k/g/s, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M@RM1999[2.3kg], 2GB, 500GB black,gold,silver, Olympic, 3 years warranty

*
A 14" notebook is the usual average size
Can consider these nod.gif Comes with OS too~
14" (Prices are RRP, can still bargain until it hits RM1.4-1.5k)
Toshiba Satellite L840-1000, i3-2350M + Intel HD3000@RM1599[2.12kg], 2GB, 640GB, W7HP

Fujitsu LifeBook LH531, B950 + Nvidia G410M@RM1599, 2GB, 500GB, W7HB, colors: black/maroon/red

Lenovo G470, B960 + Intel HD3000@RM1499, 2GB, 500GB, W7HP

THe Toshiba is relatively newer in terms of release date, and is also better in terms of CPU power, can consider it~

1. Preferred Brand: Any brand, no particular preference.
2. Budget : Around RM3k
3. Usage: Buying it for uni so it'll be for regular work, average video/photo editing, gaming (ie FIFA, racing games, etc) and for watching movies.
4. Preferred laptop/screen size : At least 14" I guess.
Haven't been looking at computers for a long time since it's been years since I bought my desktop so I'm clueless. So far the recommendations I've gotten from some friends are the HP Pavilion dv6-6c19tx and the Lenovo Y480. They seem like pretty decent ones, what say you guys?
*
Same as above, these two:
Dell Inspiron 14R (Special Edition), i7-3612QM + Nvidia GT640M(28nm Kepler)@RM2799[2.38kg], 8GB, 1TB(5400rpm); backlit keyboard optional
Lenovo Y480, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650(GDDR5)@RM2799[JBL], 8GB, 500GB(5400rpm), backlit keyboard, W7HP, 2 years international warranty

The Lenovo is better in terms of gaming performance~
You can use the remaining money to extend warranty to 3 years onsite thumbup.gif

Depending on what lines you're going for..
IdeaPad lines are generally budget laptops. In terms of quality, Y > Z > G series
If you're talking about ThinkPads, then its another story brows.gif

There has never been a M13x bro sweat.gif
The MBA 13 is out of your budget.. and nope, the MBA and VX6/VX6s are not really good for gaming unfortunately...

These would best fit your budget, but you're going to have to either top up abit, or install Windows by yourself nod.gif

The Dell XPS 15z is kind of outdated, its not worth it imho hmm.gif

14"
Dell
Vostro 3460, i5-3210M + Nvidia GT630M + 32GB SSD + 500GB(7200rpm) HDD@RM2899[2.23kg], 4GB, W7HB; colors: red/silver/bronze

Use the remaining money for warranty extension (RM249) and to upgrade to W7HP if desired nod.gif

If Asus, then this:
15"
Asus N56ZM-S4079V, i7-3610QM + Nvidia GT650M + (1920 x 1080) + BluRay@RM3599[Bang&Olufsen], 4GB, 1TB

Very subjective... you should check out both laptops and see which one you like more nod.gif

Apart from that, I guess the more important question is: Do you want a 14" or a 15.6" notebook? If you are travelling all the time, then the 14 incher would be the better pick~
